My date and I sat at a table by the window, clearly the best table for two. To start I had the foie gras, which had the perfect amount for one person, and every bite was delightful. It didn't need the chutney it came with. For my main, I had the duck leg. Duck confit is one of my favorite dishes, and I've had it in multiple places around the world. This was one of the best. Crispy skin, perfect meat underneath, and a bit of gravy to top it off. I can't stop thinking about it. My date had a mixed salad and the ribeye, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. The manager recommended a beautiful Bourgogne wine, and his choice was spot on for the meal. We skipped dessert, as we were full from our meal. That said, I wish they had more than 3 options for dessert, as none of them seemed exciting (creme brulée, chocolate fondant, or some Nutella concoction). Service was knowledgeable and attentive but not overbearing. Basically made us feel like we left London for the evening, and that's just what I need some times.

It's…read morequirky and cosy; the food is good, the service is friendly; and the bill will make your jaw drop - but in a good way. I was taken there recently by a friend who lives nearby. The exterior doesn't prepare you for what you find inside - not that much could. What you find is an intimate space, decorated in dark reds with baroque panels, rather like the sort of small 18th century opera house you might find in Prague or Salzburg. There are even little balcony "boxes" with tables accessed by vertiginous stairs (NB not good for long legged or tall people). The food is a mixture of French and modern European. There are vegetarian starters and mains, but the menu is heavy on throroughly meaty dishes, such as char-grill Lamb Steak, with crushed new potatoes, julienne vegetables and green peppercorn sauce, or chicken breast stuffed with minted minced lamb, herbal mash and Port wine sauce. I had the grilled Portobello mushroom, prepared with garlic and served with spinach and a roast pepper sauce; followed by roast aubergine strudel, stuffed with grilled asparagus and ricotta cheese, served with French beans and a tomato and basil sauce. Service was very pleasant throughout and I like the fact that they don't charge for a basket of bread. The prices vary depending on whether you book before or after 7pm; you'll save a pound on the starter and a couple of pounds on the main course if you go before. We had a very decent French vin de pays as the house wine. Pleasanter still was the bill - £55 (including service) for three people each having two courses, after 7pm. I'll definitely go back - or maybe try one of their other branches...

I came here a fair bit 10 or so years ago and had forgotten how good it is for the money. I love the ramshackle seating here and service is always friendly, if somewhat brisk. The dishes are all a little different from the norm, so it can be a nice experience to try a few dishes between a few people. I know that every review mentions that price, but the last time I paid The Little Bay a visit, I was actually surprised at the relatively high price of three people dining and a bottle of wine to split. It used to be very, very cheap. Regardless of price, the food is great here. The atmosphere has it's charm. The service is a decent standard. What is not to like?

Yelpers are right about this one, most definitely. We were hard pressed to find a restaurant a bit more "down to earth" whilst staying in uber fancy Knightsbridge, so luckily a quick search pointed me through Hyde Park north to the lovely Angelus. Tucked into Bathhurst Street, it was the perfect dining destination to ring in year 4 of being married. We wanted something nice to celebrate our anniversary, but not...opulent/over the top. Angelus fit the bill perfectly. We arrived a bit early or our reservation and opted to have a few glasses of red wine on the sidewalk seating before coming in for dinner. We were escorted in, sat at a The service is the stuff dreams are made of. I am not kidding, one time I picked up my last bite of bread and the plate had disappeared to ready the table for the next course before it reached my mouth. ON POINT doesn't even begin to describe it. And not just efficient, but friendly (as friendly as French guys get, right? Yes!) We felt welcome the entire evening from start to finish. The food, yes -- that too was fantastic! I enjoyed the beef tartare and the chicken, both gorgeous, rich and decadent. The menu is truly French, not French-British or French-American so do be prepared to see snails and the like. Yum, you'll like it if you give it a try. They event sent out a small anniversary plate for us with some delectable little desserts. Such a pleasant London meal -- Angelus boasts old school charm, but with all the polish and sophistication of its West London location. Service, food, ambience - 5 stars.

I ordered the recommended "Creme brulee" which was delicious, but the portion was far too big.but I guess they had the justify the ridiculously high price tag that went with it. Into the mains. I have to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this meal. The waiter had highly recommended it hence I expected something amazing...on par with the stater.especially as it cost around the £30 mark. What my friends and I received was a slab of overcooked meat which looked and tasted like a cheap piece of pork chop. Underneath was a small piece of potato or something. A total disappointment. Finally, the small bites that came with the teas and coffee tasted and looked burnt hence we had to leave most of it aside. Unfortunately, after that experience. None of us will returning.
