Came here because of a tip in Fodor's. They listed it as a bistro with $$. I was expecting casual and easy. It is casual, but it is the best restaurant in Rambouillet supposedly, and it is not bistro fare. read more

I love it, and my friends love it too…read more Fresh ingredients, oysters infused with the sea breeze of Marseille--this is a feast depicted in many Chinese literary works. Six years have passed, and time has left its marks upon us. I hope every year when we come to Paris, we can continue enjoying such wonderful food. This time, I've brought special delicacies from China as a tribute to the cuisine here.

I settled on the Hal's crab and hubby had the Langoustine Ravioli, which was supposed to be a sharing size. The crab was cold but visually pleasing. There was not much seasoning so the mayo dipping sauce made for a bland tasting dish for me. Hubby enjoyed his Ravioli but the three small pieces did not really seem like a sharing size. Overall nice Paris experience but I definitely left there and ordered some takeout to fill in my empty space.

We ordered the seafood tower (whole stone crab, langostine, 6 oysters (3 local varieties), tiny fried shrimp in a cup, ten or so whelks. We also had the shrimp roll, a delectable sea bass ceviche, a bowl of tiny mussels in curry broth that was just SO delicious and a whole pan fried sea bream atop a thin cushion of pea purée and topped with red cabbage & carrot. Everything was superb and our server was swift and smiling throughout the evening. The restaurant itself is small & charming with a simple rustic feel. We felt it was undiscovered but it's likely it was just a slow night on a drizzly evening. I'd certainly recommend a visit!

There was a smattering of ice on the tray but certainly not enough to keep the oysters cold. That said, perhaps this is how the French serve them. These were the only whelk of the trip that had sand in them. And, service was underwhelming. I think a party seated after us was served drinks first and I had to walk to the bar to ask for my check. There, I was ignored until I said something. Then, I asked if I should pay at the bar and they replied, "If you want." They clearly were not ashamed that I was compelled to seek out my check on foot. It was just poor service for a $$$ place. Though, the fois gras pate and smoked scallops were quite good. There are so many other great seafood places in Paris; I wouldn't recommend this one.

Our waiter spoke fairly good English and helped translate descriptions of several menu items. He was fun and friendly also. The food was delicious, starting with an Amuse busé, fresh oysters, mussels and prawns and octopus and lobster starters. Filet of beouf was cooked perfectly. The scallops tender and flavorful. We tried so many delicious dishes. And a couple good wines too. A great French cuisine experience.

The amuse bouche was a trio of very tasty small bites including a great crab and avocado thing that was amazing. The dozen Normandy oysters were super fresh and shucked expertly. For our large plates I got grilled bass with a number of purees and my wife got seared scallops. Mashed potatoes were served alongside the meal. My wife reported that the scallops may have been some of the best she's ever had and I loved my grilled fish. Perfectly executed and superbly fresh. For dessert we shared the cafe gourmand and it was excellent. I especially liked the chocolate mousse and the raspberry madeline. The ambiance was cozy and inviting and made for an amazing meal. I had been told that the seafood in Normandy was a cut above what gets sent to Paris and I absolutely believe it
