We used Rhett and his company in 2018 to add a 44'x12' addition to our house - enlarged the living…read moreroom, enlarged the master bedroom, re-configured a bathroom to a walk-in closet and build a new, spacious 10x10 master bath. This consisted of detailed engineered plans, digging and pouring foundation, a new peaked roof (not a shed roof) on the addition, and new hardwood flooring in all main living spaces except the kitchen. He also removed our old cedar deck and installed a brand new Ipe wood deck, with new footings and structure. The original builder used "unique" building choices that were discovered only after removal of siding and pouring of foundation - those choices, left unaddressed, would have weakened our structure. Rhett worked diligently and with his engineer to resolve all the problems the original builder created and our home is safer for that. His carpenters built with quality - exterior sheeting was placed with care and precision, not sloppily. We added two new picture windows, exactly copying the two existing picture windows in the existing living (now dining) room. Those windows were installed perfectly level with the existing windows and one cannot tell they were added at a later date. The new deck was carefully designed, and the structure is solid and doesn't wiggle or shift, unlike the old deck. Rhett designed the deck so that a 4x8 joist was present everywhere deck boards met, meaning he had plenty of support for two boards on one joist - no one does that. The ends of each deck board were chamfered and he used stainless steel screws, each counter-sunk into the Ipe. We were so happy with the work that we recommended Rhett to our painting customers (we had a painting business at the time) who needed construction. Every customer we referred to him who hired Rhett was pleased with the work quality and communication from Rhett - I never received a bad word from the dozen or so customers who hired Rhett from our recommendation - AND we never were paid referral fees, so this review is based on work he performed for us and feedback from joint customers, not on payments made to us. We recommended Rhett because of his integrity, work ethic, and quality. Since then we have had Rhett remodel our hall bath (gut and replace everything), redo our back landscaping and add a concrete patio, peaked cover (also engineered by a licensed engineer), and pergola over the deck. The work is of the same quality as before. Lastly, we've had no quality issues where Rhett had to make repairs.

Work failed within a couple years. When I contacted for recommendations on repair I was told it…read morewould be resolved. I was strung along for a year with no resolution. Other repair companies told me it never should have been done that way to grout the corners. Everything has cracked and separated. All the original work ran late and so much had to be corrected. Hired this company as part of a state home modification so unfortunately could not fire them part…read moreway through. $22,000 for ceiling removal with asbestos abatement, sound dampening and a new soffit. It was weeks of trying to avoid doing contractual work, add fees, calling me names, hanging up the phone on me before the first crew finally walked off of the job in front of the company owner. No apology provided to me, but after significant negotiation they did agree to hire a subcontractor to fix their work. Unfortunately this meant that they sanded their texture work and did not seal the ductwork first and refused to put up plastic in the doorway. I had to put up plastic and then spent 30 hours cleaning my home once I figured out what the air quality issue was. I have a disability and am prone to respiratory infections which is what I was diagnosed with following this event. The new crew told me that the soffit the previous crew built was too crooked to fix but I wouldn't notice it. They decided that they completed the project and the problem was the ductwork underneath the soffit. They want thousands more to replace my ductwork and build a new soffit. I cannot find their electrical license online although they did electrical work. The light fixture they installed will not turn off and they will not hire an electrician to fix their work. This was supposed to be a home modification project to help my disabled son--a fact that they have had no regard for throughout the project.

Barry, himself, along with my 3 witnesses that personally saw Barry, Jason and the gentlemen with a ford truck There is documentation, including messages and representations, connecting the work performed to American MasterCraft and affiliated business names. . From the homeowner's perspective, workers arrived at our residence, performed partial work (Which still remains unfinished), accepted payment, attempted to change pricing mid-project, failed to complete the agreed scope, and then ceased communication. Lets not forget after contacting me (barry), Barry sent out Jason the very next day at 10am, i made Jason called Barry in front of me, my wife, my father and a worker at our home that we had to paused service for while Jason came by, Barry answered the phone and said he said he sent Jason to do a estimate. Regardless of internal authorization disputes, the result for our family was and is the same: incomplete and damaged work with no resolution. Jason did receive payment with a receipt from us as he didn't have one on him and we have the bank statement after he kept pressuring us to pay him. If your company name was misused, that is a serious issue that you need to address with Jason & Barry, your worker you are denying, and one you should investigate internally. However, as the homeowner, I can only review and document what was presented to us and what occurred at our home along with what i, personally, experienced from this company. Now we want to sell our house and found that we needed to install something so that we could pass inspection. We looked at several options and could not wrap our heads around building something ourselves - we are definitely not contractors and not very successful do-it-yourselfers. I called and put feelers out for several contractors with no real bites. Thankfully, Randy reached out to us and offered to send Stephen out to give us a quote. Stephen came out and took a look at what we did and was so great - he didn't laugh at our handiwork. Stephen removed my old deck in one day and then went to work on creating my new one. It is 25' X…read more20', so we're talking big deck. It is free-standing off my yard. The wood is cedar and we decided to use cables to keep the view open. There is no table up yet, as we are still social distancing, but it's so nice to be on a beautiful new deck. I will be working with Longhouse Construction again.
