The invoice was presented only after the work had already been completed. The technician arrived at approximately 6:00 PM (the appointment had been scheduled for 4:30 PM) and left at 7:14 PM. We were later told that two hours of labour were charged. In total, we were charged $345 for the dishwasher repair (1h10 min) and $80 for a very brief oven adjustment (5 min). The issue was the lack of clear and explicit confirmation of the final total before the repair proceeded. A repair expected to fall within the $150-$180 range became a $480 visit. If you choose to use Repair In Toronto, make sure you request the exact total in writing before approving any work.

Two items were returned without any issue. The third item was a pan. I clearly explained to the cashier that I had used it once, it immediately changed/turned bad, and I wanted to check whether it was eligible for return. The cashier had trouble scanning the item and called over someone I assume was the manager. She stated that the item could not be returned because it was used. I acknowledged that and said "okay, no problem." She then added that the item was also beyond the return period..again, I said "okay," fully understanding both reasons. However, she then added, "and we don't sell this brand here." That comment was unnecessary and came across as accusing me of lying. I told her I purchased it from this store, and she repeated two more times that they "checked" and do not sell that item here. Before I could respond or clarify anything, she walked away. At that point, it stopped being about the return and became about respect and professionalism. If the return could not be accepted, that was already clearly communicated and understood. There was absolutely no need to imply dishonesty on top of that. This interaction was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I left extremely upset, and unfortunately this experience has cost Marshalls a regular customer. For reference: this occurred on January 28, 2026 between 1:00-2:30 PM. The employee had black hair, fair skin, and was wearing a white/beige top. I'm extremely mad at her behaviour.

Initially, the issue was no heat, but everything else worked. Sham diagnosed it as a faulty control board for $407.30 repair cost. This quote included me dropping and picking the unit up. He later messaged me that it was ready so I travelled to pick it up. He had me wait in my car and told me that he needed more time. I waited 40 minutes and he said that I should leave and he needed to continue working on it. He let me know a few days later that it needed additional parts (a door micro-switch and the switch mounting assembly that he broke installing the switch). It was a $15.00 door micro-switch that was the cause of the no heat problem. I questioned him regarding the original control board and he said it was not returnable since he opened it. Sham insisted i would have to pay for it and he blackmailed me that he would not return my unit until i paid him $300.00 in addition to the $200.00 that I already gave as deposit that he demanded to order the control board. I took delivery of the unit for $500.00 total paid to Sham. The control board was $289.00 + 13% tax included in this cost. I listed the control board on eBay and sold for $200.00 less fees later to recover some of this expense. Why should a customer be responsible for a $300.00+ part that was not needed or used for this repair. Sham said that i am responsible to pay for his misdiagnosis or he keeps my microwave and my $200.00 deposit. This is blackmail! The part that he ultimately used was to fix the issue was $15.00. Fast forward 14 months and the same issue no heat. He told me it was out of his warranty so I needed to pay another $80.00 labor and $15.00 for another cheap micro-switch. He told me that the switch was a 3rd party compatible part and not the original and if it happened again recommended the original part. Two days after this repair again same problem - no heat. I messaged Sham and he quoted me $27 for the factory original part which I agreed to. He also wants $65 more for labor when he offers a 30-day warranty. He told me only parts have warranty. This is 2 days later and $595.00 I have already paid in the last 14 months for a $27.00 failed part. I'm leaving this review with all factual information. I will not proceed with the additional service with Sham and I will find a new tech for this and any future service. Also, he has changed his name from Sham Appliances to Private Appliance Technician Inc. Check his old reviews by searching his phone number--he changed his business name for a reason. No warranty for his service after the same issue reoccurred in 48 hours. Do not recommend!
