I'm a CPA. I've owned a multimedia company for over 20 years and I also produce events. I had rented speakers for events in the past from Audio Design without incident. My partner is s renowned DJ. He rented monitors and speakers from Audio Design for an event that was held in Palm Springs in July, when the ambient temperature exceeded 110 degrees. The speakers failed in the heat, i.e., they kept cutting out every 15 to 30 seconds and provided only intermittent sound, which is unacceptable at an event where attendees paid $200 per ticket. Luckily, the attendees were understanding and the resort that hosted the event had house speakers that we were able to swap out in short order. My partner told Audio Design about the problem when he returned the speakers. Perhaps because he's brown (I honestly can't begin to guess why, this is just a guess), they treated him like he was trying to scam them and they would make no financial concession. Meanwhile, there were 980 guests at the event, as well as the resort personnel and the emcee, who could attest to the fact that the speakers failed. We charged back through our credit card provider, after which we received a voice mail from Audio Design, again accusing us of trying to scam them, because "the speakers worked fine after they were returned." I'm sure they did work fine...in 75 degree heat. We tested them in San Diego before we transported them to Palm Springs and they worked fine at 74 degrees. But in 113 degree heat, they failed. If Audio Design would have put them in a huge oven at 113 degrees and replicated the ambient conditions under which they failed, I'm certain that they would have failed again. But they could not have done that because there is no oven large enough to house them. In that case, maybe they'd be inclined to believe the customer; ya think? I provided documentation to the credit card company, which included letters from the GM of the resort, the emcee, and several event attendees attesting to the fact that the speakers failed. When I spoke with the people from the credit card company, they read from a script and had absolutely no comprehension of the underlying matter, which was in and of itself frustrating. They asked for a letter from another company in the same line of business attesting to the fact that the speakers, in fact, could have failed. Meanwhile, we had already provided letters from those in attendance (and the GM of the resort where the event was held) that said the speakers HAD, IN FACT, FAILED. GRRRRRR!!! I searched far and wide and found a company in Miami that wrote the requested letter. I chose that company because Miami is a hot climate where speakers are likely to fail under hot conditions. The credit card company then called and said that they needed a letter from a local company. I could not provide that letter, so the dispute was resolved in the favor of Audio Design. I'm on the fence about whether to sue in small claims court on principle, but time is money, and the rental fee was not material. As I wrote, I had had favorable prior experiences with Audio Design, but this one was horrific. A good company does not accuse its repeat customers of scamming them. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this company. read more

I apologize that this review is months late, but Mark and his team know what they're doing! I received fast/professional service when I thought something was wrong with my Pioneer DJM-700 Mixer. Turns out, I was using a burnt out RCA cable. Womp Womp. Mark was patient and showed me upon testing the bad wire that I need new ones. He even hooked me up with gently used speaker stands!
