I left a message explaining my situation and asked for a call back. Two hours later, I called back and finally got to speak to someone. When I said I left a message but have not received a call back and was wondering if the office was open since it was a Friday afternoon. She responded that the office is open but they have been very busy. (As one who deals with the public on a daily basis, I don't care that you're busy. We all are. It is not a reason and a very poor excuse at that. Just apologize and ask what can I do for you?). When making an appointment she said for new patients the first appointment would be about 3 to 4 weeks. I said that was fine. She proceeded to take my information and when I said I'd like something first thing in the morning since I would not be able to eat for the blood test. She said that if I wanted a physical, an appointment would not be available for two or three months! I have not had to have a new doctor in 20 years and I always assumed the first appointment was a physical. Am I wrong? What is the purpose of a "first" appointment WITHOUT it being a physical??? Are we just going to talk over coffee and get to know each other? Then maybe decide if this is a relationship worth pursuing?? All the while billing my insurance, (for what I ask)?? WTH?
