The Fairfield school is closer to me but they never responded to any of my calls or emails. Milford responded right away. They were very friendly and professional with a good sense of fun and enjoyment of what they do. Bear in mind that they don't like to offer any criticism even though it may be constructive. This is because they don't make any money by discouraging students no matter how untalented they may be. Personally, I welcome correction because it leads to improvement. The teachers com from a variety of backgrounds. My teacher was a graduate of a college level music program and he really knew his stuff!

He took out a Les Paul and gave me a demonstration of the lowest cost amp he had and said this will get you by until I am ready for somethimg better. I love the amp, (I'll keep it forever. First amp right?) John was an incredible help to a complete newbie and now I can't wait until I need something else. They are a dealer for Buffet and Selmer, and carry Clark Fobes clarinet gear too. Every time I see Crystal at Wright Music it is a great experience, and reminds me that in these days of internet shopping, the human interaction in a "real music store" adds considerably to the buying experience. She is always knowledgable and helpful, and if she doesn't have what I'm looking for, she can get it quickly. With the near-evaporation of the W 48th Street (Manhattan) music strip, I've made Wright Music my go-to spot for all things relating to sax & clarinet. Highly recommended and always worth the trip!
