Great weekend place for brunch! Stopped here because we heard good things about it, and we got there just on time as it was getting busy. We sat on the lovely covered porch, as it was a lovely day. I had the breakfast with eggs a ton of bacon and rye toast. It came with some yummy potato wedges and homemade ketchup. My partner ordered the breakfast gnocchi with creams sauce and poached eggs. Cute little restaurant in Beamsville. I was there for lunch, so I only had a lunch entree , but it was very good and quite filling. I had the French Onion Brisket melt. It was very good and served with a dipping sauce and Home Fry Potatoes. I really enjoyed it because it was juicy and had been cooked with a sweet smokey sauce. I would definitely order it again. The tables are spaced far apart, with repurposed window frames serving as dividers in the dining area. I had the breakfast gratin, which had two eggs on top of a creamy garlic vegetable gratin with Swiss and Asiago cheese. It is served with a side of crispy potatoes with a choice of white, rye or cornbread. I like the dish as it came piping hot and the crispy potatoes went so well with the creamy gratin. You might drive by the spot without really noticing it, but I would recommend that you give it a go. We sat on the patio today and it was nice, except when a car pulled in right next to us. We had brunch and it was awesome. The French Onion Soup Brisket sandwich was delicious. I took away half of it so there would be room for the sticky toffee pudding, yum!. I found August on yelp after picking our own fruits at a nearby farm to grab a quick lunch before we head back to the city. I was pretty excited based on the pics and the stellar reviews but got disappointed after looking at their menu. Every item on the menu with the exception of salad and beef bourguignon has cream in it. Being lactose intolerant, I only had one dish to choose from. The waitress even confirmed that was the only dish cooked without some kind of cream. As for the beef bourguignon, the pastry was very light and crispy however the taste was just ok. I found it very salty and the flavour of the beef was not the best. It had a slight hint of ginger or some kind of spice that wasn't pleasing to my palate. Complimentary herb potato bread was served with our entree. We all ordered different dishes for dinner - Seafood Stew shrimp, scallops and fish in a sweet potato and coconut curry served with mango chutney, Creamy Seafood Mac 'n' Cheese baked with shrimp, crab and scallops in a tarragon cream, Potato Gnocchi and Blackened Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach in a basil pesto cream, Flank steak with Potato Gnocchi, and Lasagna. I thoroughly enjoyed the Seafood Stew shrimp, scallops and fish in a sweet potato and coconut curry served with mango chutney. The curry stew had a bisque like consistency. The mango chutney acted as a palate cleanser. It adds a hint of acidity to the overall dish. My only recommendation for August would be to either cook the scallops less or use larger scallops as most of them were over cooked. Everyone at the table were content with their meal except for my brother who ordered the Flank steak with Potato Gnocchi. The steak was over cooked. The gnocchi was bland. He was extremely disappointed at his meal. Overall, I would recommend August Restaurant for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Great restaurant. My girlfriend and I were on our journey around the Ontario wine routes, and we chose a B&B not far from this restaurant. Most people we spoke to recommended this restaurant, and the menu and prices sounded fair enough so we decided to go. Well it was a great surprise to an uncertain chose. We thoroughly enjoyed thai restaurant, for a number of different reasons. Firstly, a lot of their produce and products come from the "terroir", and their wine list is filled with wines from the region. We did a bit of wine tastings before dinner and the friendly staff allowed us to continue by tasting a few more during dinner! How amazing is that!!! Well I had the antipasto plate and it was one of my favourites ever, if not my most favourite! And as a main I had the seafood stew, wow was it ever delicious! Wow, it was so delicious! We had a large group for the location with a variety of meals at the table. The Ice Tea was a pleasure to have as it is house made and uses far less sugar than commercially obtained versions. Duck rolls were a nice appetizer to have by yourself or to share. The locavore appetizer was very nice to share among as many as five of us. Sat Jan 23 2016 We dropped in without a reservation at 5:45 and got the only open table, the interesting seat at the entrance, almost inside the kitchen. This turned out to be a good thing as we saw every beautifully prepared dish going out to the main dining area, and we became very friendly with the owners and wait staff, a really great bunch who love their restaurant and love their food. On the menu: House Caesar Salad: 3 out of 5, dressing was too creamy for my taste. Seafood Stew; 4 out of 5, very tasty with a slight curry flavour that added a lot. Sticky Toffee; 5 out of 5, the best sticky toffee we have had, and we always try it if it is available for dessert. Overall, a lovely meal and a restaurant we would recommend. We finished everything! I shared the Mac n Cheese, and a Meat Tourtiere with my friend. Both were SO GOOD! The Mac n Cheese was just perfect - tons of melty cheese and steaming hot. We came here for dinner on a recommendation from a friend after spending the day at Forty Creek Distillery for Whiskey Weekend. We were greeted warmly, and even though we arrived over half an hour early, they were able to seat us right away at our table. Our waiter, Darren, was friendly, welcoming, and appropriately attentive. There were 6 of us in our group and each had a different, tastey meal. All the menu choices looked creative, including several vegetarian options, and it was difficult to choose. My husband's smoked mushroom and bean cassoulet was delicious and my short rib over pasta was perfectly cooked. We finished the meal with the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which my husband stated was "maybe the best dessert he ever had!" Even though we live three and a half hours away in Ohio, we will definitely be back next time we come up north! read more

We quickly knew what we wanted, but we couldn't decide between the crab cake eggs benny or the smoked trout eggs benny on a biscuit (!!!) so we each ordered one. The crab cake was good but the biscuit/trout blew it out of the water! So delicious, and the hashbrowns (with sweet potato) were absolutely delicious. I did find the hollandaise was a little under seasoned but it was still good. This dish gave me goosebumps.... on this dish alone I would give 5++ stars... I moaned outloud after every bite. The special for the evening was a braised short rib severed with a parmesan gnocchi It was amazing. The rib was literally falls off the bone tender.... LITERALLY. .. not figurative.. literally. DELICIOUS. Ratatouille came with the dish... personally I am not a ratatouille fan, but my partner assured me it was a great. The meal came with a basket of their house made bread... from what our server (the amazing Allison) told us this selection changes on a daily basis, the Asiago and herb bread we had on this night was so amazing we requested some for our doggie bag. We also had the seafood Mac and Cheese... served Very hot... however once cooled it was rich savory and well balanced. so often seafood mac is merely fish with pasta, this was a perfect melding of flavors... no-cork fee free Friday is perfect way to pair your newly discovered wines and save money. my only regret is that I live 200 miles away from this culinary delight.... definitely a four and a half star experience.... if this restaurant is something you are considering. ... Top quality food, excellent service, comfortable décor and a very good local wine list combine to make this a true gem in Beamsville. From the outside this place looks kind of like a local pub or family restaurant, but don`t let that discourage you. Inside, the décor is warm and comfortable, with a cozy dining room and nice clean washrooms (always important!). Service is friendly and knowledgeable, the wine list is full of local gems with a good number available by the glass. The food is the real star here, though. The menu changes seasonally, but if the seafood mac and cheese is available, you have to try it. Decadent comfort food, they take your Mom`s classic and up the game quite a bit. The crab cake benny is awesome, rich and filling. The scones are fresh made and come with some delicious preserves. The Andouille sausage hash comes with a mix of regular and sweet potatoes, and is also awesome. I`m looking forward to coming back and trying their new tapas offerings. read more
