The staff was quick to correct this, so I am presuming it was just a strange accident and not something that occurs frequently.

Warm & bursting with flavour, fantastic. Main was the Crispy Orange Beef ($30.00). This was good but not super delicious. The beef itself was delicious but the veggies that came with were just ok. The server "Kirk" had a great sense of humour & kept pace with the tables humour. Kirk also supplied some hot sauce that brought some additional taste to the Orange Chicken. I found the ambiance in the bar area a little cold but there was seating at the bar. The bar had a great tap selection of beer including one of the better ones Erdinger. The hostess and our server were very friendly, too, and they checked in on us a few times to see how we were doing, and if we needed anything. Nice! My friends had thier small dog with them (leashed), and dogs are welcome here on the patios. They even have doggie water bowls about. Super nice! The menu of food offerings is large and varied, and there's a big range in prices, too. I'm sure most everyone could find something they like on this menu. Super nice! We ordered various appetizers for the table (I remember the edamame but forget the others), and I ordered the chicken fajitas (which were a bit spicy but delicious. And wow, the portions were HUGE. I brought most of it back to my friend's house, where I was staying). So, with all these nice features, why am I giving this restaurant only three stars? Here's why: my two TO friends I dined with are very generous to me, and they always have been. (I've been close friends with one for 43 years!). They insist on getting me at the airport and dropping me off there, too. They house me in their home. They take me sightseeing and get my tickets for any shows we see. They never let me pay for anything, despite my being thier houseguest. This irks me to no end!!!! So prior to this trip, I told them they HAD to be gracious and let me pick up the tabs for meals out. And they reluctantly agreed. Thank goodness! So when we came to this restaurant, I told the hostess and our server (twice) and a woman who came to our table to see how we were doing (the manager or owner?), that I wanted to pay for the table's appetizers and we all need separate checks. (My friends earlier said they'd "let me" pay for the appetizers but not their lunch, but I could pick up dinner. They are SO problematic!). Anyhow, I told every employee at this restaurant within earshot about this arrangement, and they all told me "NO PROBLEM". And what happened? They put our whole order on ONE bill and presented the bill to my friend, who wouldn't relinquish it. WTH. WTH!! I was really REALLY unhappy with this restaurant for not following through with the bill arrangement they had agreed upon. They apologized, but wow, it was too late to change anything. I was not happy.

I hit OpenTable and found Sunset Bistro open for reservations, so I quickly made a morning reservation. Thankfully I checked OT because their hours on Yelp showed that they were closed! We both ordered coffee and the amazing Bistro Benedict and were not disappointed. The service was great, our server Jibran kept our coffee filled with coffee and kept bringing milk. The music was a little loud, but being only one of three tables this morning, it is likely more noticeable without the constant sound of other tables talking. Their food is of elevated quality and the service is good. There are two parts of the restaurant. When you enter, there is a bar area which is just average in appearance. Then you get to the main dining area where it is nicely decorated and plenty of light entering the area. The dining area is befitting of an upscale restaurant. We ordered the following: 1. Mixed Green Salad (small $7.95, large $13.95). 2. Fish & Chips (1 pc $18.95, 2 pc $26.95). 3. Baked Pistachio Salmon ($26.95). 4. Bread Pudding and Ice Cream ($9.99). The Mixed Green Salad has tomatoes,  cucumber, matchstick carrots, sweet peppers, onion, goat cheese candied walnuts, and tossed in a lemon vinaigrette. The salad was good but needed more vinaigrette. We asked for more and they gave us a container with more, which made it perfect. Another thing: we ordered small but they misheard me and gave us large. They were nice enough to change our bill to reflect the price of a small. We ordered two pieces for the Fish & Chips. The fish is haddock, beer battered, with fries, signature tartar sauce, and cole slaw. The haddock was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. The batter was crispy but a little too thick. My mother and son didn't have the strength to cut through it. The Baked Pistachio Salmon had a pistachio crusted salmon, roasted sweet potatoes,  warm spinach, seasonal vegetables,  and drizzled maple butter. The glaze had a strange taste. I found out that they put Dijon mustard on the fish to hold the pistachios in place. I usually don't like Dijon mustard it it wasn't overly strong. The mustard should be listed in their menu I think. On the positive side, the salmon was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. It appears that this restaurant serves good seafood. I will have to come back to try other items. The Bread Pudding and Ice Cream was smooth and delicious. It is a custard with raisins and rum butter sauce, with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. The custard was smooth. I hardly tasted the rum which is good because I don't like alcohol. The whipped cream was fresh and light. There are 4 parking spots nearby on Elizabeth St that are free for 20 mins until 18:00. I happened to arrive at 17:59 and was able to park for free for our entire dinner! There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. However, we were really upset about the hidden fees that were not explicitly told to us (18% gratuity on top of tax and a $25 fee per missing person). We would have rather underestimated our reservation than pay more - we sat at benches so we would have just squeezed in further. We were told about the gratuity but not that it was on the total after taxes. I can understand charging for no shows but we were a very large party that was only short 3 people, and again there was a lack of transparency when booking. So now I've paid $75 extra and a gratuity for guests who weren't present...??! I think in the age of people not attending parties when they are sick, there should be some leeway. We also were told we were expected to pay for one meal for every guest, even though there were 4 children 4 and under. This was most certainly not communicated to us as we were not even asked when booking how many adults there would be. We wouldn't come here again as a large group as we felt they were not very transparent and not very family friendly. It was a very upsetting end to an otherwise lovely time.
