This is the ideal school in the entire CSRA. Top tier academics, athletics, fine arts, and prepares your kids for life beyond the classroom.

Open Door Preschool - Inexplainable mark after a day in school.

In response to Pricilla F…read more Thanks for the positive things you have to say about the school despite what you feel was a safety concern. We reached out to you privately after this review and back in April when the mark appeared, but we feel that a public response is appropriate since you are challenging the integrity of the school's staff in a public forum. We in no way want to diminish your own feelings surrounding the unknown cause of a mark on your child. We know a mother doesn't ever want to think of her child being harmed. We certainly don't want any child to hurt either. A child's well-being is of the utmost importance to the staff and we feel due diligence by the school was taken. Although you declined having a sit-down with the teachers or being seen by a physician, we would still be willing to meet with you any time. We are always looking for ways to better the school so thanks for your feedback.

The mission statement is really good for this school. This is an actual open door school. All…read moreteachers are approachable and courteous. However, I give this place two stars because my toddler (2 y/o) came home with a hand print on the inside of his tight. I decided to take him out of the school because nobody could explain to me what happened, not even the person responsible for changing his diapers. The fact that there was no explanation to this incident made me doubt the integrity of his teacher. It is unfortunate because I liked the school, but I rather focus on my child's safety.

The program is a wonderful balance of structured group activities and free learning, with an emphasis on creativity and character development. Concepts like the alphabet, seasons, numbers, and days of the week are introduced in a fun, gradual way. The thing that really sets the Beehive apart is the warmth and caring extended by the teachers, parents, and kids. Ms. Ertz and Ms. Chesser genuinely love their work and absolutely pour themselves into what they do. They truly do an incredible job and "bring it" every single day. I have gotten more than a couple parenting tips from watching the expert way they are able to soothe high emotions and create an environment where the kids are motivated to act with kindness and respect. Finally, I would like to say that my daughter is seriously ecstatic about her teachers, friends, and all the activities she does at school. She constantly pretends to be a teacher at home now, and she has learned so much from the other kids (thanks to a lot of gentle teacher guidance) about sharing, kindness, and the joys of being a good friend. I whole-heartedly recommend the Bee Hive for anyone who celebrates childhood and wants a holistic, intelligent, loving preschool program for their little one.

She was saying things about me to my kids and yelling at my kids, venting how my kids are the problem at her school ,not her school and it's so sad because we're not from Georgia and I've never seen as much hostility in my life and so I moved to Georgia. I feel like as an adult, She should've spoke with me and not to take her anger out on my children and disrespecting their mother, thinking that they were just gonna sit there and allow her to talk down to them about their own mother. I feel like Richmond County school district need to do better and get more professional people to work in the school system. I am in dire hope that my children can transfer from this horrible school and go to a more comfortable and safer environment.

Now, I get their behavior is probably a every day occurrence HOWEVER when a parent walks in, full work uniform WITH work badge in sight, there is absolutely no need to yell at the staff to "make sure you see ID, & the name given matches." That line there was/is COMPLETELY outta pocket. Not to mention the fact that it had to be yelled as a attempt to embarrass me. I could care less if WHS is considered one of the best high schools in Richmond county, this irkes me to no end. Next time, when a parent walks in, you both could not bark orders & perhaps take the time to maybe extend a helping hand, as stated previously, my child and I have not stepped foot in WHS, let alone Augusta. We will say, Ms. B & Ms. M were beyond AMAZING!!!!! (We thank you both for your kindness)

While we were long-time members, a recent failure by management to handle a situation professionally forced us to withdraw before the year was up. I am sharing our experience to help other parents make an informed decision. Following a peer rumor that inadvertently involved the business, my minor daughter proactively requested a meeting with the owners to clarify the situation. Given our long history, she expected a safe, moderated environment. Instead, we found the meeting to be hostile. In our experience, the co-owner spoke to my daughter in an aggressively loud and elevated tone before she could finish speaking. The situation felt so unsafe and unprovoked that I felt compelled to physically remove my child from the room, as the owner could not de-escalate the interaction. When my husband subsequently met with the owners to address this behavior, we felt there was a complete lack of accountability or apology. Furthermore, during this discussion, the owners shared details regarding another child's past behavioral history by name. This lack of discretion left us with no confidence that student privacy is respected behind closed doors. Worse, we learned that instead of mitigating the peer conflict, leadership allegedly instructed other teens in the program to focus their grievances toward our daughter and another student. While we understand that business owners cannot prevent outside rumors, the way this peer conflict was handled felt entirely inappropriate for educators responsible for minors. While families may have a fine experience when things run smoothly, our situation completely changed how we view this leadership. In our opinion, Ft. Steam handles conflict poorly and does not maintain the level of professionalism or student privacy we expect from an educational environment. Since sharing our experience, there have reportedly been threats of legal action toward individuals and groups connected to discussions about Ft. Steam and their handling of similar interactions.
