I'm an elderly woman in my 70's. A year ago, I had a bad fall and broke all the bones in my ankle (bi-malleolar and tib-fib fractures). My daughter accompanied me in the ambulance to Augusta U Hosp ER that afternoon. CT scans verified the extent of the injury. Sometime around midnight, after many hours of exams and waiting, one of the residents told my daughter I needed to be admitted for surgery the next day. Because she had work, my daughter left and went home at around 1 a.m. She was told she could come back the next day to see me after the surgery. But then at around 4.30 a.m., a tech came in and put a temporary cast on my leg. I was told there were no beds and I was being discharged. "How?" I asked. "I have no transportation. How will I get home on my own?" A nurse got me some crutches, accompanied me out to the waiting room and said, "You can call Uber." Literally, I was left to my own devices. The grumpy late-night Uber driver saw me struggling to navigate on the crutches, but wouldn't budge her position, far away from the doorway of the ER. It was not a great experience. The kicker: I got no callback from the medical center to schedule my surgery or even for a follow-up to see a surgeon. The only way I was seen by calling repeatedly. When finally I met the surgeon, he was outraged that I had not been immediately admitted. The bones did not heal well and now I need an ankle joint replacement. We should be able to expect better from our medical providers. read more

Horrendous treatment of suicidal trans patient with HIPAA violations abound, fix your observation room and your attitude immediately, please! I had to make this review short because of character limits, but I have a full one up because of how awful the situation was. I am looking into potential lawsuits or ways to get in touch with higher ups or to spread the word. I am a cis woman with a trans wife who got sent here for suicidal intent back in December 2023. Basically, be aware if you have a loved one who is trans who is suicidal. If they get sent here they will be put in an observation room where they are fair game to be completely disregarded, misgendered, insulted about their appearance, and have their life and full name announced for other disturbed patients in the room to hear. (some who apparently are free to look into your cubicle to stare you down menacingly, even though you've been sent here for emotional distress) Very disappointed as a former Augusta Health worker and someone who was made to believe by their staff on other visits that they are trans rights friendly. Disgusting situation my wife had to go through that she is still suffering for today and I really hope this place and this nation wises up soon. I had no choice but to go here because that's where my insurance sent me. So I guess I go... or die and be miserable from migraines.... and that's not an option... they can't cut off your head and you still survive... so playing the lottery next. Parking is horrible! No handicap parking anywhere... only like 2 spots (ok... maybe that is an exaggeration, but for the amount of people... the percentage isn't there). I checked in early, they got me in a room but I had to wait way past my appointment time. I guess I'll try to get a morning appointment next time. read more

Well I had to go on and get my throat checked and in the ER you go from 1-7 windows before a doctor will see you. They will call you back to check your BP and temp depending on you case but the mostthing that gets me is the waiting! Now i understand everyone is short staffed but 10-12 hours in the ER thats a long time. The you have people who dont wear mask and wear them on there chin like a fashion statement(look at Gucci mask) ask me if I give a penguin hoot! So as you make it to the back doors which I call this hallway the"rack em and stack em" area. This is where you spend you last 2-3 hours before your released or admitted. A doctor or resident come out and talks to you about your problem. For me no covid,flu, or anything else funky going on swollen lympnoids. Guess i was lucky Steroids and antibiotics for the next 7 days The doctor's and alot of the residents are hard workers but in the ER waiting area there were a few HIPPA laws broken like discussinga patients case in public and asking personal questions to them what things they have ever contacted. I find it amusing that anyone could give this place more than one star. I, unfortunately, had the experience of having to deal with more than one department (ER, X-RAY, GYN ONOCOLOGY, and spending the night in the hospital. the administration does a very poor job over all. Their is very poor communication between departments on addressing patient needs. If you develop issues as a result of your treatment that requires another dept their is an attitude "that's not our responsibility " The CANCER CENTER phycian assistants have too much autonomy and make impulse decisions that impact the patients overall health and well-being. Good luck if your unfortunate to have a crisis and have to go there.I would rather die. read more

No I would not recommend this hospital. They don't take their patients health serious. They keep pushing my appt. Back. I've waited a year and a half to get my upper and lower GI done . Everytime I eat or drink I get tremors and GI issues that causes me to have a heart condition called PAC and is messing up my blood pressure. I think they are kust waiting for me to DIE! read more

So where do I start, let's see. My husband is currently staying in the hospital up here in the AUH and the experience has truly been something. We traveled about 3 hours to be here and this place is extremely dirty, holes (huge holes) in the walls, air units are broken, lunch staff are horrible, rude, and very inconsiderate. They will forget your food, damage your tray, poor liquid all on it, and then snatch your money and roll their eyes and do that thing with their mouth that they do when they do not want to do their job. A 2 year old child comes to mind one. I try to be very polite and respectful at all times and even when I wanted to throw the food tray at that rude lady I instead kept my cool. The showers here in the room are broken. You will get three sprays of water to fall out with the exception of a side spray to the toilet and all over the floor. You will die in here if it were to be an emergency we spent a few nights with the call button alarm going off all on its own constantly!!! All night on top of the nurses having to come in and out. Called maintenance twice and unfortunately, they could not fix it. My husband who was admitted pulled it out the wall and plugged it back up when he needed to. Most times no one answered anyway. Thank goodness someone was with him!! You may think after reading this I may sound like a "Karen", but I'm not. I was just a concerned wife. Please, be mindful before coming here, read the other comments. This place is beyond bad!!!!! I could name more but I'm not for the sake of time. I had to call three times to get a tray of food that their handbook says is $12 but you have to give it to the people who bring it up with no receipt or proof of no source. How much do you want to bet it will be on the hospital bill? Anyway, my husband is back in his room from having a procedure. I hope to never come here to this hospital again. read more

DISGUSTING. Overflowing trashcans, dirty cotton balls on the floors of the hallways along with wads of hair, dust, and other medical supplies. ER bathrooms had urine all over the floor and none attended to them in over 24 hours. Patient care is nearly nonexistent. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Their billing department is absolutely horrible! I keep getting the run around and they aren't billing insurance correctly! They have now caused me to go to collections twice when for both visits I have been in contact with managers/supervisors of the billing department because they didn't do their job correctly. I don't understand how something is in dispute and they can still send it. Every time I call, I talk to someone new and I always get the run around. They are sorry the account isn't handled correctly they promise they will fix it and then they don't. So here we are. They need to employee people who are willing to help and fix the situations. I will NEVER go to AU! I don't care what the issue is. I will continue to go to Peidmont formally University. read more

Do not go to AU HEALTH HOSPITAL.This hospital in the emergency dept is a joke.The nurses talk about how big this guy's Penis is 7 inches long. How they are all goofing off and not caring about the patients. They are worrying about getting a sugar daddy to live off.Its one big party when the shift changes happens and they don't follow up with all the tests are requested by the doctor.They leave the specimen out on the table where anybody walking through can destroy it. AU Health has some of the best doctors around I started coming here in June 2016 when it was dIscovered I had Bladder Cancer. The doctors and nurses are friendly and up beat. They readily answer your questions in language you can understand. The largest fault with the hospital is it's ER. Over the last 2 years I have been to the ER 5 times. I have yet to be there less than 5 hours. Today's visit looks to be 12 hours or longer. We arrived at 10:00 AM and it is currently 8:25 PM. We have been in the waiting room almost the whole time. They have take blood, gotten a urinary sample, and gave me a bag of fluid. I just want to go to bed and sleep. read more

Just finished a frustrating call with the Billing department. I received a Final Notice bill today, but we never received the previous bills because they had the wrong address. I spoke to Melissa and explained the issue and she updated my address. I also asked if they could bring the 30 day discount pay back since I never received the initial bills. She said that she spoke to her supervision Lisa and they said they would do nothing. This was the first dealing with them, but pretty sad that they would not help me when it was their error on the address to begin with. My advise would be pay when you leave the office and do not allow it to go to the Billing Dept. read more

I have been a patient at AU for several years. The system has completely broken. I was advised to go to the ER after seeking care at a CVS MINI Clinic. I did not see my problem as an ER option due to the wait times experienced by acquaintances. After the CVS PA followed up with a phone call, I contacted my AU Chronic Care Team and spoke with the Nurse there. She also told me I should go to the ER. I explained my reasons for not going there. She then attempted to make an appointment for me. This call was at 1:03 PM, on July 27, 2022. (My prior attempts for an urgent appointment with an MD had not been not successful.) At 5:20 PM, I received a phone call from AU Family Medicine, MCG making an appointment for 9:50 AM on Thursday, July 28th. I presented at 9:40 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022, to the Family Medicine Clinic receptionist desk where the clerk (wearing no name tag) informed me that I did not have an appointment. I showed her my phone where It displayed the incoming call to me at 5:20 PM, as I explained the purpose of the call. She did call the phone number listed which was the appointment center for the AU Hospital. I had failed to ask for the person's name that had called me, therefore, no one admitted to calling me. The End result: Jessica's (had to ask her name) computer refused to acknowledge my scheduled appointment and she turned me away informing me that my Primary Care physician' appointment schedule did not open until October. AU's Health System is completely broken and has been for a few years. Or are they employing inept clerks....... read more

The parking is terrible. I had to park in the cancer parking so my wife could see the liver specialist almost 1.5 miles away. The help desk is just as helpful. Reluctant to help and seem to tell you anything to get you out the door. Begs the question if the doctors actually care. The students on campus when asked for assistance tended to be rude and obtuse, like they where modeling their teachers and administrators care. If you can get past these obstacles then you be seen, just do not expect a phone call to explain the labs or follow up treatment. read more

Ahhh my old school. It brings back a sense of nostalgia, and I enjoy going back as often as I can. What can I say about my old school? Well, it's a good school. No matter what anyone says, this has got to be one of the best public universities, that started out as a local college. Augusta State IS the oldest institution in the state of Georgia, while the University of Georgia is the oldest "state charted" institution. From my time there, several years ago, the school is also growing exponentially, and 90% of its buildings are considered "new." Located on "the hill," in Augusta's historic community, Augusta State is surrounded by old historic homes, that are well kept and have prestigious owners. Located very close to the downtown area, ASU finds itself in an interesting location, which has prevented growth in the past, due to the fact that the surrounding neighborhood doesn't want "unsightly" buildings in their area. ASU has fixed this problem, by establishing a satellite campus in close proximity to the main campus (a quick 2-4 minute drive). The reason ASU has been given a 4 by me is that the school continues to have horrible parking problems, and since they are blocked from building a parking garage on campus, they have to waste useful space with parking lots. Also, although ASU is one of the fastest growing universities in the state (as is the surrounding area) ASU still lacks the opportunities that a larger institution can provide. Yet, it is the perfect institution for those who can't afford larger institutions, or for those seeking to finish a college education while maintaining a job outside of school. ASU is a great institution, and the only real reason I left was because I felt like I had more opportunities elsewhere. Otherwise this school is great and I hope to see it bloom in the next few years into a well established and competitive school, with other major schools in Georgia. read more

The parking is ridiculous and the building is the most confusing building I've ever been in, worse than LAX, which I didn't think was possible. There's no helpful signs anywhere, it's extremely confusing. I'm sure the geniuses who designed this hospital are also the ones who had the bright idea to change the college's name twice within 4 years. Poor administration leads to whatever you'd like to believe. This was a great school, but the Dean of students, the psychology department, and the school of education is far from top notch. The worst part about this, the majority of the Board of Regents is operated by women. Hence, anything that a male student does is placed into question. But it's not the Board, it's the rest of the place. The school of education (where the education department is) will also give a young man hell. Anyhow, ASU has cool game rooms, nice dorms, and an exercise room. The library is huge, and the ladies there are extremely kind. NO TRUST EXISTS! read more
