literally the worst ER I've ever been to which says alot, because ERs suck ! We waiting for 4 hours…read morewith no help, no answers, and very rude staff, who could care less about you. Which, why are you in health care with no empathy ? We were pressured into signing refusal of care ( after asking how much longer) which I regret doing but was just so out of it at that point. Don't come here if you want help. if I could give -stars I would

Went to the Aultman/Canton ER for concerns of sepsis, a deadly infection. Waited for 4 hours…read morewithout being helped and left with two other families, one of which concerned their loved one was having a heart attack and had been there for 9 hours without attention. Throughout our experience, the Aultman/Canton ER was seemingly run as a mental health crisis center. One woman was screaming about Domestic Violence, cursing at staff and demanding to go to the police, with many security employees surrounding her to attend to her situation. This went on unresolved for 2 hours. Another Patient was begging for attention and mercy, wailing in a geriatric chair from the moment we arrived until we walked out. A third Patient appeared to be without need for emergency services, dancing jumping and singing with obvious motor/sensory impairments-perhaps substance induced (again-security telling him "we can't leave you alone because of the other incident"). He was provided drinks and snacks to remain compliant and cooperative, vitals checked in the common area as the attendant went from one Patient to another without disinfecting any devices. We were told they don't have any rooms open. NO, Aultman-you don't have STAFF TO TRIAGE. YOU HAVE NO PROTOCOLS. Chances are, you also don't PAY well, so you can't GET any staff, and if you want a crisis center, open an effective triage unit for mental health/non-medical crisis. In the meantime, whoever is looking at marketing strategy or business/accounts receivable needs to realize they are losing money (commercially insured Patients) walking out the door and may benefit from hiring the staff to bill out 5 times their salary.

One morning, my 6 month old woke up for a diaper change. To my horror, his diaper was completely…read moreblack from front to back. No exaggeration at all - it was 100% pitch black, and looked like fine coffee grounds. He was exclusively breastfed and on no supplements, so I immediately called the pediatrician. They had us come in, ran a test on the diaper contents, and confirmed it was blood. They told us to immediately take him to Akron Children's Hospital ER. My husband and I were in tears. We get to the ER, and we wait for about an hour. They finally take us back to check his vitals, then send us back out to the emergency room for about two more hours, give or take. At this point, my husband and I were hoping our son didn't bleed out internally. We were so scared, but no one was helping us! Finally, they bring us back to a room. Lots more waiting, lots of random doctors coming in with the same questions, feeling his stomach and not really doing much at all. Then they said that they were going to do an X-ray of his intestines. (I'm no doctor, but even I know that X-rays aren't for soft tissue). Surprise, the X-ray didn't show anything! (You can bet we saw it on our bill, though!) Next, they did an ultrasound of his abdomen. The ultrasound tech was very kind and good with him, but again, they didn't see anything. After all this - hours and hours at the hospital - another random doctor comes in and says that we can go home and that they don't know what it is. Um, what? We kind of expected at least a list of possibilities! So we wasted an entire day, $4,000 (since we hadn't met our deductible), and we didn't even get any answers. To top it off, for the last hour and a half we were there, there was a newborn baby crying horribly in the room near us, and no employees even batted an eye. It was gut-wrenching to hear it cry so hard, and to not see anyone lift a finger to help. So, if you have the displeasure of going here, make sure you don't leave your baby alone overnight, or else it won't be taken care of.
