Sometimes they are good, nice and caring and other times they are absolutely NOT. Earlier this spring I came in by squad for severe abdominal pain and instead of giving me medication for the pain, they gave me IV ativan for "anxiety" because I was crying. I was actually crying because I was in so much pain, they asked me if I was feeling anxious, they didn't ask me if I WANTED anything for it. It was incredibly messed up to do this, and after they gave me the ativan through the IV, I lost all memory of the events that came next, they gave me a CT scan WITH CONTRAST (you have to sign something for this, I do not remember signing anything!!) they claimed I was alert and oriented when I made a complaint to their internal team, I may have been, but I have no memory of that or anything else after they gave me that ativan... They made me sign medical papers while I was under the influence of that medication, and it had a really messed up effect on me, I texted my brother "I'm scared, I don't know what they gave me" I spent TWO HOURS in the waiting room lobby after they discharged me unable to get home, I eventually got an uber home, an uber... while I was still under the peak effect of the mind altering medication. They claim in their response to my complaint that the "peak" is 15-30 minutes, but the blackout effect of the drug can last for six hours... When I got home from the hospital, I was so dizzy, lightheaded and confused that I passed out on my living room floor, coming to an hour or so later, barely coming off the meds and really not sure what was wrong with me. The psychological fallout from this happening led me to seek mental health care the next day which I have records of and they know this. No matter what they said in their patronizing response to my complaint, there was no medical justification discussed with me for giving a me a sedative instead of pain relief for the reason I was there, stomach pain. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating me in such an inhumane way, I deserved to be a participant in my own care and instead I do not remember most of what happened, and I had a procedure (CT scan with contrast) done to me that I do not remember and I do not remember providing consent to that procedure... this incident was one of the worst things I have ever experienced, and their response to this has been disgusting, gaslighting and patronizing. Be careful coming here for stomach pain. Instead of addressing my ACTUAL symptoms, I was given Ativan a drug I didn't ask for or need and felt like the doctor just wanted to sedate and brush me off rather than treat me like a human being. Regardless of what they claimed in their response to my complaint, they didn't do enough to make sure I was actually okay, alert and oriented, and they had me sign consent forms while I was under the influence of this medication that I do not remember signing.... Went to the Aultman/Canton ER for concerns of sepsis, a deadly infection. Waited for 4 hours without being helped and left with two other families, one of which concerned their loved one was having a heart attack and had been there for 9 hours without attention. Throughout our experience, the Aultman/Canton ER was seemingly run as a mental health crisis center. One woman was screaming about Domestic Violence, cursing at staff and demanding to go to the police, with many security employees surrounding her to attend to her situation. This went on unresolved for 2 hours. Another Patient was begging for attention and mercy, wailing in a geriatric chair from the moment we arrived until we walked out. A third Patient appeared to be without need for emergency services, dancing jumping and singing with obvious motor/sensory impairments-perhaps substance induced (again-security telling him "we can't leave you alone because of the other incident"). He was provided drinks and snacks to remain compliant and cooperative, vitals checked in the common area as the attendant went from one Patient to another without disinfecting any devices. We were told they don't have any rooms open. NO, Aultman-you don't have STAFF TO TRIAGE. YOU HAVE NO PROTOCOLS. Chances are, you also don't PAY well, so you can't GET any staff, and if you want a crisis center, open an effective triage unit for mental health/non-medical crisis. In the meantime, whoever is looking at marketing strategy or business/accounts receivable needs to realize they are losing money (commercially insured Patients) walking out the door and may benefit from hiring the staff to bill out 5 times their salary. read more

Aultman has the most disgusting staff and organization functionality. The wait room times are out of this world. I spent 12 hours in their waiting room and wasn't seen because they "don't have any rooms open" which is bullshit. There were only 15 people in the lobby when I arrived. Their billing department is inept and incompetent. Took DAYS to get a simple receipt because of a typo misspelled name. No excuse--I had date of service, birthdate, address, name, everything but my last name spelled correctly and it took days for someone to find it. I went to the Er about a week after a severe fall backwards into a cement basement floor. It took me 2 days to get upstairs. After a week in bed I was slowly with a cane able to stand and barely get around. I lost my job but due to bad hospital in Canton I was afraid my spine issues would not be dealtg with or bilateral shouldes, fingers or my right knee. I have a ADR in my cervical spine that now I can barely turn my neck and other issues causing me to believe I have myleopathy due to my arm and hands and shoulder issues. I have severe gait issues. When Dr O Toole came in he did a very poor evaluation. He failed to evaluate my cervical or lumber spine and doesnt have a clue about the placement. He said it was a stimulator and a fusion. What kind of a idiot do you let see a spine patient becase he is stupid and ignorant. He trained at some third rate college for his degree from a underrated school and probally couldnt get a job anywhere but in a blue collar town at best. He never checked my shoulder or fingers and touched my hand, one hand only ,but not my fingers that I complained about. He could see I have significant knee problems but did no Ct on my knee or shoulders. The records are all wrong and he said I only have arthrits. The only arthritis is in his idiot brain. How do tell someone you have arthritis when you have no evidence of anything without evidence a nd only a MRI is possible on a ADR but none was give. The nurse states on record that she gave me something but that is a total lie. I had no food for 6 1/2 hours and cannot drive and had no food so Ieft. Worst care of any hospital I have been to in Canton. Aultman hires the least expensive doctor that knows nothing about spine injuries. Dr never asked about bladder or control and he and hospital and get ready for legal action as my L45 have severe spjnal stenosis and the dr or radiology ever checked what they are required to check and if I have what I think I do my attorney will file a lawsuit. I had a sleep study July 12th. Beautiful experience. Had CPAP sleep study/fitting on August 25th. It took them weeks to get the results to my doctor. They were "understaffed" is what they told my doctor. Finally September 15th, my doctor gets the results and sends them to Aultman Aultman Home Medical Supply. I called on September 29th and talked to Courtney. The order was still sitting. She was getting it sent to the respiratory therapist. I called again on October 7th. That lady said they were waiting on paperwork from insurance company. I asked what paper, she said breath. I asked when it was sent. She said she had gotten go it yet, but she would do it after she took care of 2 orders and then apologized. To date, I don't have a CPAP machine. No return call or anything but you know what I do have...the bills for this service. They have great follow through in billing and must be well staffed. Unbelievable. I will NEVER go to this hospital's "emergency" room again. I called for the wait time for my husband and was told 56 minutes. 5 hours later at 4 in the morning, my husband had his IV taken out and we left. I thought this was an emergency room. No one was in any kind of hurry. I kept checking on how long it would be, couldn't tell me. My husband is an insulin dependent diabetic and he felt like his sugar was crashing. I'm sure they just would have left him lay on the floor as it wasn't his turn yet. Massillon West is no better, the doctor out there when I went for myself had an attitude problem. This is the third time I've been the 'victim' of poor communication between departments. Once again, I arrive to the lab to find the Oncology department had not sent an order to the lab in order for me to have blood drawn for an appointment the next week. This occurred despite the fact that I specifically asked if the order would be available in the lab when the oncology department called ME to reschedule an appointment. This unpreparedness and lack of attending to details on their part is a disservice and inconvenience for me. I'll take my health care elsewhere. read more

The worst possible hospital ever. ER is the worst on the planet. The patient advocate does nothing more than say nice things & files you, as do not help this person. They forgot to turn the heat on in the ER waiting room. I recently had a terrible fall. I was badly injured. My cardiologist sent me down there because he was afraid of my injuries because I am on a blood thinner. I left at 11:00 at night because they didn't think my head injury was severe enough to warrant their time. My cardiologist was afraid of a brain bleed. This review is exclusively for the Labor and Delivery Department.....I had a very long and rough labor, but ended up having a c-section early in the morning on July 4. Lots of blood, sweat, and tears were shed to get my baby here. (I'll spare you all the details). But the nurses were nothing short of amazing. Especially: Katy, Kim, Leah, Sydney, Joyce, Pam, Sandra, Amanda , Candace, and Jen. I think I may have forgotten a couple names, but I loved them all! The most caring and patient women ever! Also the Nurse's Aid (I believe that was her position, but I'm not sure): Courtney! And the lactation specialists Carrie and Heather. And all of the residents. Anesthesiologists Tony and Stacey were amazing. Shelly too. There was one who was slightly grouchy, but to be honest, I don't remember her name. Doesn't matter.....the others made up for her. I was there for quite some time, so I got to meet a lot of staff! Whomever I may be forgetting in the OR, please know you are appreciated. I was shell-shocked, so I don't think I got to properly thank everyone for taking such great care of me. I am usually great with names, but I have to admit giving birth kind of gave me some blurred memories and "pregnancy brain". I can't say enough nice things. Usually I do restaurant and foodie reviews on Yelp, so I'll go ahead and add that the crushed ice and popsicles were delectable and completely scrumptious. Seriously though, I was so scared about the birth experience, but they all set my mind at ease and made me feel really comfortable. I would recommend Aultman to anyone who ever wishes to extract a small miracle from one's tummy. read more

If an ambulance were to tell me they were taking me to Aultman I'd tell them to turn back around and drop me off. Misdiagnosed me sent me out the door with a sprain. Went to a specialist 2 days later and I'm in a cast for 11 weeks followed by a surgery.. thanks dickheads. Room 435 in labor & Delivery had no hot water. No shower after giving birth ... maintenance was called and said it was fixed. Clearly it was not and no one was too worried about it. Sue, the nurse, decided it was necessary to be rude to my son because he was sleeping on the floor - because the pull out bed didn't work and we spent 16 hours in labor. She told me not to worry she would whip him into shape & that he needs to get up and be a Dad. He is already a wonderful Father. We also had to hear how she breast fed with inverted ripples. I had to change ice pads, etc for my daughter in law. Sue was too busy judging my son. She handed me the pad and did not offer me gloves. Real nice - blood & bodily fluids. DO BETTER. Luckily, after Sue told everyone my Son was a jerk we never saw her again. The new Nurse told us they get a lot of complaints about her. Aultman has really gone down. I did submit my feedback and complaint to them directly with no response. So if you like Pina Colada's, not being able to shower and being referred to as a pain then go to Aultman! read more

went to have my baby 4-4-24 they tried to kick my husband out for asking questions about my blood pressure all the nurses on the on unit acted so scared of my husband and the security tried to kick him out! he never raised his voice or even got loud he was simply asking a question! I hate this hospital and the only reason why I think they wanted to kick him out because he was a black man!! Then on top of that the security was making calls to the nurses on my unit asking how we were doing in our room we even caught one of them standing outside our door listening in our room! If you need care, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. Went in with double pnemonia and other lung problems. First 3 days wasn't good but didn't die. No help with bath, no clean sheets, no clean gown until I asked for one, no sponge bath, no wipe down even with servere diaharra. On the last night on the 6 floor, was moved to room 4606 as they needed that room for another patient. I had a lady that came in that afternoon before moving to check and make sure I could go to the bath room by myself. The last lady was to come in and make sure I could go and wash down and go to the bathroom by myself, which she did the next day. The doctor had recommened I sleep with a oxygen mask as my oxygen was so low and I did the first night and didn't have have a problem. I cannot stand to sleep with my head covered but it didn't seem to bother me. The second night I went to sleep with it, but woke in a panic attack and was tearing it off. They took it off me, but in my fight with the mask, I pulled a muscle in my back. My doctor sent two strong pills and i only took one for the strained muscle and I fell back to sleep with no problem. The next night I asked for another pain pill, and finally they brought two more of the same kind of pills but they had some over the counter ones that I wanted and didn't use the strong one. The next night I asked again for the pain tablet and here they come again with the two strong pills I would only take one and asked if they could just get a patch for the place on my gack. When I was discharged it was noted on my chart that I had a drug problem??? I texted my husband at 2am to come as soon as he could the next morning to see me. He showed up early as I was completely bullied and scared to death by the nurses. They released me that day No cleanness no hygiene in bathroom or room Sleeping in a bed for 4 days without clean sheets or any type of help for cleaning ones self. standing outside of door of room at 2am talking about patients and playing on phones. I don't know if the hire from heaven, but everyone I encountered was an angel. I've been here three days and not one person disappointed me or neglected my needs, emotionally and medically. Wow. I'm here for a body collapse because long term abuse trauma. I have always considered Aultman to be the best hospital in our area. Todays experience has definitely changed my mind. I brought my husband to the ER with excruciating pain in his side. He couldn't sit down, he was pacing and bent over and moaning in pain, and after hours at one point down on his knees on the floor crying. A staff member told him he had to get up. Are you kidding me ? I begged the staff repeatedly to help him. I even asked them if I should call an ambulance to come get him from the ER waiting room. The staff would do nothing to expedite some relief for this man. They left him like this for hours. Ultimately it turned out he has a kidney stone. Once we finally got in, the Dr. was very good and the nurses kind. But, how can you be so inhumane that you leave someone in this kind of excruciating pain for hours at an ER? read more

Very disappointed in this facility. Our primary care immediately sent us to Aultman after my daughters A1C came back at 12.7, plus high blood sugar at our visit. We had no idea she was diabetic and had lots of questions. Our Dr sent the paperwork to the Aultman ED, called to say we were coming and that patient would need an IV and checked for keto acidosis (which is very serious). Our Dr was extremely concerned; however, after 7.5 hours in the ED waiting room, we never even saw a Dr there. The nurse who drew her blood made a mistake and had to draw again. She asked us "why did your Dr send you here?" as in this isn't serious- you don't need to be here. Another staff member asked why we were there, and I said you have the records our Dr sent and tests we need done. I have had nothing but negative experiences with the Aultman foundation going back the last 4 years. Everything from outpatient, ER, inpatient stay, billing, and Aultcare insurance. This will be lengthy, bit I'll try to keep it as concise as I can. Scroll all the way down for the Too long, didn't read if you wish. Several months ago I was diagnosed with covid in the ER. Was sent home. I continued to decline so I went back to the ER. This experience is not my issue, just a preface to give you the whole story. I was seen at Aultman West ER. I was then admitted and transferred to Aultman 4 South. This is where the issues began. The Doctor ordered IV remdesiver for COVID. Thete was no discussion with me about my treatment and frankly at the time I was too exhausted to ask about it. As my condition improved, I began to research the drug. In short, the drug had been proven several times to do nothing to treat covid. It causes kidney and liver issues in most patients, and also that it was extremely expensive per dose. That aside, the nurses on the floor were extremely rude and unprofessional. I'm doing to cut them slack because I understand Aultman loves to overwork and understaff all the way around the board. But the pettiness displayed by one nurse in particular calling my employer to make a complaint when I was hospitalized really pushed me over the edge. On to of that, I saw the doctor twice my entire stay for roughly 3 minutes per visit. She did not answer my questions, and between the doctor and the nursing staff, I couldn't get an antacid for heartburn I was experiencing, instead having the charge nurse argue with me over it. When I voiced my concerns over the remdesiver treatment they were ignored. When they tested my blood I sure enough had elevated liver and kidney enzymes, which in turn meant I needed more IV medications to level everything out. I was discharged later that day much to my relief. Fast forward months later, I received my new statement from Aultman. I was currently on a payment plan for previous services rendered prior to my hospitalization. Nothing was out of the ordinary and it looked like insurance had covered the costs of my ER visits and inpatient stay. I continued to make my agreed upon payments to now receiving a new statement, 2 months after the initial statement. My balance had increased by over $300. I contacted the billing department and when questioning the statement, the CS rep said the charges were from physical therapy. I haven't received physical therapy in a year. She also informed me that the statement I had just received in the mail was wrong and that I owed over $500 on my balance. She said it's very typical for insurance to take several months to process the claims. However when disputing my statements, I pointed out on my end they insurance has indeed processed and provided the payments. Her claim was that apparently Aultcare had retracted some of the payments. I also stated that I believe the statements should have been withheld until everything was then processed and finalized instead of sending multiple confusing statements with no new services listed but changing balances. She began to get very defensive and vulgar towards me when I said I wasn't paying this balance until I had confirmation from the insurance. She continued to be vulgar and hung up. I tried calling back only to have my call placed on hold, ignored and then hung up on again once I stated my name. Very classy, Aultman. Very classy. I have been in contact with some friends, relatives, and colleagues who have had services provided from Aultman and have Aultcare insurance. In short, Aultman has a long history of predatory billing, with these people reporting similar issues. One in particular paid a balance off entirely and had the records to prove it only to get a bill almost 11 months later stating they had an overdue and outstanding balance. When it was disputed and the records were produced, the charge was dropped. Tl;Dr I cannot in good conscience recommend this hospital or the associated insurance. Aultman is chronically understaffed, with overworked employees suffering from major burnout, and unfortunately it's all too often taken out on the patients. The main hospital staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, the doctor did not address my treatment, questions or concerns with me, they were ignored. The food was awful. Treatment is typically what can be billed for the most money, not what's best for patients. Predatory billing, poor patient care, very poor customer service from Aultman billing and Aultcare insurance. read more

AultmanHosp ER would not let the patient see a Doctor. We asked the head nurse for a doctor. We asked the Physians asst for a Dr. we waited and waited and a new non-doctor would come to the ER. What are the rules these days? You can go to the ER, never see a doctor. Get xrays, never see a doctor, get prescriptions written that you can't use and ask for a Dr. But, never see a doctor. After yesterdays truly cluster mess from Aultman Hospital. I went to another one in the area and got what was need for my medical situation. I want to know why my doctor at my community health center did not even see me but had the nerve to have the attending RN call me on my cell as I was entering the hall way , while other nurses were yelling down the hall to put me in another room so I could talk to the attending RN .to tell me that I shouldn't of left the ED because before being evaluated, The RN in the ED already evaluated me and all symptoms pointed to palsy. The doctors office could of seen me and did the same thing that was done this morning at another hospital. I got no blood test, or any other test other than physical test to make sure it wasn't a stroke. It baffles me at the incomitance of this situation. read more

And when it came time to be discharged they told me a nurse would be in to give me my papers and leave. It took them nearly 45 minutes to even notice us we had to walk out and talk to them and the lady said that she was just told about us. Lobby is still filled with patients and that's why. The single star is for the emergency room I went there last night had four people in front of me and watched them all go and come out then about a dozen more people filed in each and every one of them went before me so I asked "Do you know when its Going to be my turn?" and they replied that your type of services require a special room. Now I'm no fool when it comes to the hospital's I was there to get a 1-hour IV drip of antibiotic every single room is equipped for that so they judge me according to how I look or what I was there for and basically I sat there all afternoon and half of the evening just watching people pass me by finally I was the only one in the emergency room and I sat there for two hours and no one called me back I finally went home untreated! Horrible service from the ER for absolutely no legitimate reason. I have had no complaints with any of the treatment I have had in other areas of the hospital but when i needed them the most in the ER, I was horrified by the lack of common decency I suffered from. read more
