Apparently if there is a fragment of tooth or bone from previous dental work - it can start to work its way outward - the body is attempting to "eject" the fragment. I had a consultation and soon after scheduled myself for an appointment. Everything went without the hitch on their end but for some reason the anesthesia wore off early so I woke up to the sound of them drilling into my mouth. I woke up crying and then cried for a full hour afterwards too. I was so loopy I had no idea what was going on or why I was crying. The staff was extremely kind and let me just ride out my wave and when I woke up I got to keep all my wisdom teeth in a bag just like I requested. They were so big and my husband and I still look at them every now and then and revel at my molars. No dry mouth or extreme swelling. i'd have to say that I was pretty pleased with my experience overall.

Dr. Ovcharenko is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to, and I've been to many many…read moredentists, for crowns, root canals, implants and other dental procedures, big and small. I know most people judge a dentist on how gentle, attentive and friendly they are, and Dr. O excels in all those areas, but what I really care about is skill. Can he perform a difficult root canal, or build up a broken-off tooth for a crown so it doesn't have to be pulled - that's what I care about. I'm in my 50's and plan on dying with a full set of real teeth! Dr. Ovcharenko is a genius, with the hands of a surgeon. Twice now, I've had crowns that were put on 35 years ago break off, leaving barely any tooth above the gumline. He saved me from having to have an implant both times. I recently moved cross county to the West Coast, and when a dentist there told me I needed to have my tooth pulled, I bought a plane ticket to VA to see if Dr. Ovcharenko could provide any better options. He performed a difficult root canal and set me up so that I can get a new crown instead, saving my tooth and saving me more than enough money (from not having to go to an oral surgeon for an implant) to pay for the plane trip. I had to get a second root canal, have had crowns for both. The two badly broken teeth have been extracted. Two other cavities. Am in the process for the two implants. Since it's on my tongue, I have to use my medical insurance instead of my dental and this was one of the offices in the area that accepted it. I was originally scheduled with a periodontist out in Manassas and had a bad experience that I decided to call this office. I got an appointment scheduled fairly soon (within a week) and saw Dr. Pham. I was prepared to get a biopsy since that's what the periodontist at the other place said. I'm so grateful to have scheduled here because Dr. Pham gave me a better second opinion that it was just my tastebuds and "would be a waste" to get a biopsy done. Not only did he save me from having a week-long recovery that was unnecessary, I appreciated his honesty.
