Cupcake is located in a large plaza. You can't miss the signage of a huge cupcake in blue and pink. I parked in one of the curbside pickup spots. I was picking up a takeout order and felt that it was fine. While waiting for a nice woman to fetch my order, I was looking at the desserts. This place has ice cream, macarons, and lots of baked goods. The chocolate croissant caught my attention. I knew that I needed to get one. When the woman returned with my Mason Jar Kitchen order, I asked if I could get the chocolate croissant. Yes! She got me one and placed it in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I also managed to include a tip. It was straightforward. I thanked the woman and headed back to the hotel to have lunch. I had the chocolate croissant as an afternoon snack. The croissant was okay. It was buttery, but it wasn't as flaky has I had hoped. It was more dense like a paperweight. I wanted flaky and airy. The chocolate was yummy. I prefer dark chocolate and loved it. I feel the need to go back and consume more items. The cakes and cheesecakes looked yummy. I was too early to take advantage of 50% off all pastries after 3 pm. Sure, vanilla can be boring but it IS a flavor and theirs is very good. We'd usually buy half a dozen bundtlets each time we went. Their other flavors are fine, just not my favorite. And everyone who tried the vanilla when I'd grab a few extra all loved it too. Obviously the owner can do whatever she wants but not carrying classic vanilla is definitely... a choice. It's good enough that I'll drive out of the way to get one for a special occasion but disappointing I can no longer just stop by when I feel like having one. Although my go-to is the chocolate croissant; I eat it almost weekly! The bakery also makes and decorates special occasion cakes. I recently ordered a Princess Torte for a friend's birthday, and it was a hit! I always feel welcomed at this bakery, no matter how busy or quiet a day it is. I hand selected two dozen donuts and the employee working was friendly and helpful. I was a little shocked to see that my total was $45 but it is what it is. The glaze donuts are a staple and the filled jelly was also a winner. I wish I was able to try a bunch of them but how many donuts can one person eat?! I would love to see a couple options of donut holes but it's possible I missed them during my visit. I'll continue to stop in for special occasions for the team.

She made 32 hand painted cookies - the 3 seen here plus a "Madeline" cookie - for our children's literature themed shower. Our guests were so impressed - some joked they couldn't possibly eat something so beautiful. But when they inevitably did...(there were only these 3 left at the end) - someone remarked it was the best cookie he had had in his life. I will tell everyone I know about Sweet Lulu's!
