I usually enjoy going to Auntie Anne's at multiple malls around my hometown. I'm a Buffalo boy, so I don't usually find myself in the Syracuse area. This was my first time at this location. The first thing that I noticed in the famous "glass case" of foods was a jalapeno pretzel hot dog. I love their jalapeno pretzels. I love their pretzel dogs. But I've never seen a jalapeno pretzel dog sold at an Auntie Anne's before! Mmm! It looked good! Unfortunately, I had just eaten a delicious smoothie from Cold Stone, and was too stuffed to eat the pretzel dog. Plus, I was on a budget. I didn't want to spend $5 on one of the jalapeno pretzel dogs. Since I had never seen the item before at any Auntie Anne's, I went up to the counter to have a quick, friendly discussion with a pretzel baker about the jalapeno pretzel dogs. I wanted to know if they were made all the time at this location, if they made them at any other Auntie Anne's, etc. I went up to the counter, and an energetic, dancing-to-the-beat-of-the-music employee, named Matthew, met my eyes. I told him that the jalapeno pretzel dogs looked delicious, and that I had never seen them before at an Auntie Anne's. Before I could say more, he quickly asked me, "Do you want one?" I told him that I didn't think so, this time. I just went to Cold Stone next door for a smoothie and that I was full. I couldn't eat any more. Matthew grabbed the food tweezers. He opened up the door to the glass case and reached for a jalapeno pretzel dog with his tweezers, with quick speed. Almost as if he was ignoring my reasoning for not wanting the dog. He asked me again, quickly, "Do you want it or not?" It was said in a tone where, if I had to pay for the item, then he would have been a rude mannered, snot nosed brat. However, up to that point, we had made pleasant conversation, and Matthew successfully convinced me that, maybe, he wanted to sneak a jalapeno pretzel dog to me for absolutely free, just because I was nice. Similar events have happened to me at other restaurants, and stores. You get more when you're nice. Now, I dont usually EXPECT free food from any given restaurant, but I thought, wow! A free pretzel dog from Auntie Anne's! What a deal! Even though I was stuffed full, I really wanted to taste that jalapeno pretzel dog. I said, "Yeah, sure!" He took the pretzel dog out of the glass case and put it in a bag for me. He brought the bagged pretzel dog over to the counter, and asked me, "Will that be all?" He started to type something on the computer. He wouldn't. After that impolite, upselling attitude, he wouldn't. I gave him a dirty look, and said, "Yep. That's it." He continued typing on the computer at a quick pace. Still jamming to the music. He might have been on drugs but I couldn't tell. He brought up the full price of the pretzel dog on the computer. He told me, quickly, "$4.31." That sneak! Trying to get me to spend money on the pretzel dog when he KNEW that he suckered me in to saying "yes", hook, line, and sinker! I waved goodbye to him. I knew better than that. I told him as I walked away, "Worded impromperly. Tricky, tricky, guys!" I was infuriated. Never had I been treated that way at an Auntie Anne's before. I will stick to the Auntie Anne's locations that are closer to home in Buffalo. I am never going back to this one. The Cold Stone employees were much friendlier to deal with, didnt try to weasel me in to any purchases, gave out free ice cream samples to me when I requested them, and the drink that I purchased at Cold Stone was very tasty, even if you can't compare pretzels to ice cream. I wish I could I give no stars for my encounter today. First, I'm at the mall just shopping out and about. I decided to my this place my last stop before heading to my vehicle. It was an easy walk up to the register since there was no one in line or being waited on. I decided to get my usual, a mango lemonade and almond pretzel with cream cheese. Simple, right? It was about 5 employees when I approached the registered and they were all dancing and listening to music while I'm trying to order. The person who took my order was a black male with smurf blue hair. He was so busy in to the music and dancing with the other employees instead of being attentive to me. When I got my pretzel I figured to just take it with me and eat in my car as I always do. When I reached for my pretzel and bit into it. The pretzel was so hard like a rock, I mean, I felt my crown shift in my mouth. Absolutely disgusting!!! There was a whole display of different types of pretzels and I'm assuming they had to be sitting out all day since opening. When I tried to bring to the blue hair man attention, all of them were so busy laughing and dancing they couldn't hear me ask about my pretzel being hard. I was so annoyed, I just left. I will NEVER go back to that place again as long as they are all working there. You want to talk about customer service? The man with blue hair just put my bag on the table and walked away. Didn't even have the decency to hand me my pretzel. What a shame to have this type of employees at a place so busy like the mall and this is the type of behavior goes on. I know this seem small but it's the principles. That's all I got and will not be following up. As for the pretzel, I didn't even feed it to the birds in the parking lot. My favorite is the almond pretzel (it is less sweet and also has less calories than the cinnamon pretzel). I took my BF here for his 1st Auntie Anne's pretzel experience. We tried the jalapeno pretzel (that the worker mistook for raisin at first) with spicy cheese dip and the cinnamon pretzel (option of getting caramel or icing dip but we had it plain). We got our pretzels at the end of the night when they were about to close so I think they had been sitting there a while. The jalapeno one was darker brown and tougher than they normally are. I think it was cooked for longer than normal. Jalapenos didn't sit on the face of the pretzel the way I remember these pretzels being made. Overall, I still enjoyed all of my pretzels. The guy at the stand was very enthusiastic and friendly. They ran out of the almond pretzel the last time I came here but I guess it's to be expected toward the end of the night. Auntie Anne's is much better than Wetzel's Pretzels. Their dough is sweeter and less tough. read more

I have been getting pretzels here for so long its not even funny. I also absolutely love their lemonade and nothing else beats it on a hot summer day! They have so many types of food that you can get, its very hard to keep up! Some days you can just go for the normal stuff and get a regular pretzel or maybe the enhanced garlic parm pretzel. Other times you can be bold and get yourself a delicious pretzel dog. No matter what option you choose, it is essential to get their yummy cheese and marinara sauce! I totally miss the cheese pretzel bites. They were so good! They have these new pepperoni bites, but they just don't do it for me at all. You can't cook cheese on the outside of something. It just isn't right! So in my opinion, if you want bites, get the pretzel dog bites. So yummy it hurts. The only issue I have and it is so weird, is that their cups are terrible. I know that sounds weird, but it ruins your drink. Wether you get a medium or large coke, once you get about 1/4-1/2 done with it, it starts to have this awful paper taste to it. I have thrown away so many of their paper cup drinks due to this. Not all places are like this either. So its their cup for sure. The only other place this happens at is Wendy's normally. BK, MCD, ETC all have cups that don't leave a funk. Fix that guys and you will be the official lords of the pretzel joint. read more

Disappointed to arrive a few minutes before closing and be told by employees that they had just thrown all the pretzels in the garbage. I asked why and they simply said that their manager "CJ" told them to. What I should have done ismdemand thatnthey make me the pretzels I briskly walked all the way across the mall to order before closing time. Never. Close. Early. Especially when it is a fair weather day in CNY. Had I had the opportunity to enjoy a pretzel, or had the employees offered to make my pretzels despite just tossing (and wasting) whatever pretzels were already made, then I quite possibly given this review 4 or 5 stars. read more

If you have a hankering for a cinnamon sugar pretzel in the mall, the best one to get it from is on level two by Cold Stone. Others, for whatever reason, just don't have the same service. I've been getting food from Auntie Anne's at Destiny USA in Syracuse ever since they opened,, For years I've loved their pretzels and drinks and still do..The staff have been amazing ,courteous and helpful,some of who I've known for years! Lately there's some new ones who've been working that have insulted me, and the manager " Shawn" embarrassed me when I went in for a pretzel and asked fir a squirt of more iced tea in my drink since it was sour. The help who's name is Justin said he'll have to ask the manager. After a few minutes this guy comes out..He very loudly said we don't give re fills,, there was a line behind me and I cringed! I showed him my full cup and said I know you don't give re fills as you can see my cup is full.. again he repeated the same thing in a loud voice like I'm asking for freebies ! I told him to zip it I don't need the drink,, to my horror, he said this is the last time I'm buying a pretzel from this place! I was not only humiliated, but appalled at such a unprofessionalism,, As a 20 plus years associate of a Macys we get a discount ,so earlier in the week I went for my usual craving and informed this very same Justin I work next door .. and he goes how do I know ,you have to have id,where's your ID? I go to Auntie Anne's about once a day. I work in the mall and its nice to be able to receive a soda for as little as one dollar. I have never really had a problem here... although, they have never been overly friendly either. But all-in-all good. On December 1, 2012 I waited in line like I do everyday, to see a teenage boy making the pretzels. What I thought was bad, however, was that after every pretzel, he would reach his hand over the glass wall and hold his girlfriend's hand... or touch her face, only to then make another pretzel. I waited to get up to the front of the line to say anything. I did not want to make a scene. However, when I asked the cashier to ask the boy to wash his hands, she instead called the boy over loudly, and the boy yelled "im not washing my hands! We dont have to here cause they go into the overs!" I explained to him the it didnt not bother me that they wear no gloves (working with food before I understand about heat and gems) but that it was that he shouldn't be touching anything else after washing his hands before beginning to make the pretzels. After the boy got even more angry... I pointed my finger and said "just do it." Which made him wash his hand. Many people in line left after hearing the boy said he wasnt going to wash his hands. If this wasnt bad enough... I returned to the stand today, 12/3/12, to get this daily soda and noticed that the manager was working. I stated to explain to him what had happen. I didnt get two sentences in without him stating, "We dont have to wash our hands... they go into the over." he cared less about the poor service I experienced or the business they loss by the boy being rude. All I wanted was an apology and the promise to talk to the boy about his actions. Instead, I will now walk to the another end of the mall to get my pretzel from the other, smaller and friendlier, Auntie Anne's. I will not stop shopping here because I enjoy your pretzels and I have faith that you do not teach your workers that they never have to wash their hands. However, I do believe that the specific manager at this Auntie Anne's is not teaching their workers to be respectful or to have good hygiene while at work. read more
