I came prepared to spend time exploring this shop and making a few purchases. Now, the reason why I gave a 1 star review. Not sure who their target demographic is, but the impression I got from my first visit to this antique shop is that I am NOT that person. I was not welcomed when I came in. I figured she was busy. As I continued to explore the store, I overheard the shop keeper welcome and make small talk with every person who came in. (Of note they were older and white). After hearing this multiple times I put away what I was planning to buy (some old post cards and books) and left. I am very disappointed by my experience. Is it possible that this lady wasn't judging me? Sure! However, she gave me this impression and therefore I will never be visiting this establishment and will telling everyone I know not to do so as well. Antiquing is a passion of mine and knowing that there is a beautiful shop so close to where I live due to poor behavior, makes me sad. If you (look rich) and are white, congrats, you will receive red carpet treatment. If you look not rich, even though you actually do well (physician in my case) or are not white, this is not the shop for you! Luckily there are plenty of great places for me to spend money!

There is SO much to look at - I could spend hours in here. There is a full main floor, upstairs & basement! Actually, I spent at least an hour in here. You can find antique Christmas items, books, clothing, fabric, glassware, toys, furniture, etc. We found some vintage American girl paper dolls from the 90s for $5! My daughter will love them. I found this place by accident when I was out in Hudson for a doctor's appointment right after the…read morenew year. Saw the big sign, the big fenced in lot, the building looked appealing. Walked in to the nice smell of candle and saw shelves of jewelry right in front of me past an old rustic table. I'm home! I spent an hour going through all the rooms and chatting it up with the friendly clerk, came out with some treasures. In summary: this is my new favorite vintage store in Cleveland! It's a former florist where they grew all their own flowers so the building is big and has a country and shabby chic appeal. The style in here is an interesting mix of cool retro vintage, shabby country, and newer things that go with having a cool lifestyle. Their handmade soaps are the cheapest prices i've seen around town. I love that so much recycled and repurposed things are here: it's not just a place for gifts (for yourself or others), but i'm finding practical things too (I've been here three times total since I first walked in this January). It's the kind of place where you'll see a shelf of interesting old and weird books next to brand new quirky cookbooks, a rack of nice jewelry calling out at you, then around the corner there's some amazing old stoves and shelves of retro kitchen stuff and 60's barware, and before you know it you're planning to redo your living room with mid-century decor and cool painted furniture while you stock up on great rock records. There's things i'm not into but I can see the appeal like old architectural pieces and farm antiquey things and retro kid's stuff. In all, it's like a big general store but for cool stuff. Without a doubt, Silver Eagle was the best discovery of the day. Definitely better than the Oktoberfest itself, but that's another story. Like so many antique shops; it's packed from floor to ceiling, musty-smelling, and filled with little nooks and crannies that house the most interesting things. There are several rooms, and we easily got lost for a couple of hours looking at all the cool, old treasures. They have a huge collection of local memorabilia from Akron and the surrounding areas. There are also lots of old postcards, appliance ads from the 30s - 60s (hello, Mad Men!), and LIFE magazines which were really fun to read! My favourite discovery was all of the old photographs -- they were really, really lovely. The owner seemed a little crochety, but he kept to himself. I found so many cool things in here that I wanted, but didn't have any cash on me -- I'm definitely going to have to come back.

If you collect bottles this place is your holy grail. The owner was once a huge bottle collector and knows a lot about Akron's dairy history. I love a vintage store with an owner full of knowledge. There's a pretty solid vintage appliance collection, baseball memorabilia, civil war relics, native american arrowheads, art, costume jewelry, old photographs, barn tools, antique metal toys, and even furniture (good luck getting it out). When my Mom and I stopped in a few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised. When you enter, drive in off of Darrow Road and park in the back. You'll see the sign instantly. Once you're inside, you'll be greeted by a stairway with an intersection of two floors. The bottom floor is filled with furniture, artwork, and other various home furnishings. The top floor is filled with purses, women's wear, jewelry and other accessories. As an avid consignment/vintage hunter, I can easily say that Twila's has one of the best furniture collections i've seen. Eyes can be deceiving on this place. The bottom floor is quite expansive, and I was wildly impressed with their selection of mid-century and Victorian style bedroom sets....particularly, the tall, old fashioned dressers with lock and keys, which are simply beautiful. The clothing selection is also impressive. While the store is generically organized, its worth it to go through all the racks, since many of them are out of order. I loved their wide variety of styles and sizes, and was happy to see quality brands like Coldwater Creek, Chico's, Kate Spade, Kate Landry and others. Looking forward to stopping by again soon, and maybe even bringing my own barely worn clothes for them to consign!

Of late, estate-saling has become my hobby (it's good to do something other than work, as long as it doesn't require more working to fund it), and I came to Twinsburg this morning in quest of a set of Pyrex nesting bowls. I stopped into Twila's on my way back home, thinking I might find another Pyrex prize, and was pleasantly surprised to find a bright, attractive, and well-stocked shop with helpful employees (the cashier signed me up for their rewards program and let me know during my birthday month to expect an email with 15% off as a gift -- I will be back). The lower level was well-organized and filled with furniture, décor, and housewares (the reason I stopped in), and upstairs were racks of clothing (spaced generously apart; not a bunch of stuff crammed close together), outfits displayed nicely, jewelry, shoes, and accessories, with sale items clearly marked. I dislike shopping for clothing (jeans and a pullover is my go-to uniform), but found several items I liked in a short amount of time, tried them on (the dressing rooms were a lovely surprise! Plenty of hooks, an ottoman, clean, pretty, large mirrors), and bought two blouses that will surprise the rest of the tops in my closet. I'm glad I stopped in; should have done so sooner!
