I went back to to them after the great first experience. This was a mistake. I signed a Contact to have Aurora to add an additional asphalt driveway. They subcontracted it out to a small company. A totally horrible job. It wasn't close to being level. Water pooling on driveway didn't drain down the slope at all. They killed my grass when they put their tools on it. It's illegal to subcontract if they don't state it in the contract. Aurora came out to fix it. They just put a small layer on top of it to level it. Now I have several cracks. Will never go back to them. They went from an A to an F.in my book. read more

We had a new patio & driveway put in in 2021. Very good work! But their communication and customer service is very subpar! They would have a great business if they were customer friendly. If you have great patience and have plenty of time to wait getting your project done, then I would recommend them. But if you want or need a job done promptly then look elsewhere. The word that best describes the quality of work of Aurora is "craptastic". They keep everything a secret including the details of the warranty, won't tell you when they are planning on coming, they destroyed our lawn, landscaping and one sprinkler head and when confronted about it, their response was "sorry, that's not our problem. Better call someone else so you can pay them to fix our mess". They seemed like a reasonable company but were just the worst. I would NEVER recommend them. Check their better business bureau rating! Poor quality work. Driveway already cracking. The crew that came to pave the driveway didn't listen to what we were saying. What a great prep crew! Lucas, Wyatt and Jose were simply amazing. We had a big job for them. Two paved driveways, a concrete parking pad and a concrete deck for a hot tub. They removed the old asphalt and brought in some beautiful crushed fill. They were all so kind, conscientious and wanted to be sure that I was completely satisfied before leaving. When I mentioned to Lucas the deck is for a hot tub, he said we are going out more rebar in it to make sure it withstands they weight. No extra charge, just really nice guys! I can't wait to see the final product next week. Weather has been an issue, so delays are to be expected. I'm glad they don't rush through bad weather just to get it done. I'll let you know how the rest of the project turns out. Great company...highly recommended! Concrete crew arrived right on time. 7 man crew...wow. They were fabulous. Nice guys. Beautiful workmanship and FAST! All work was done in less than three hours. I just can't say enough about my whole experience with Aurora! They poured a new pad of concrete in front of the garage. It was predicted to rain that afternoon, so they covered the area with a tarp. We don't have gutters and the water pouring off of the roof created a depression in the soft uncured concrete. They should have never poured the concrete that day! Months later we got the company to come back out to repour the one section that had the most damage. Unfortunately, 6 months later, that new section is significantly darker than the other sections, and looks terrible. The company has not been willing to correct their mistakes by redoing the job. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY Had old driveway lifted and put in new asphalt, which cracked the entire 21 ft width within approx 8 months of installation. They WILL NOT fix it. I was told it is my responsibility to take care of the crack, they in no way intend to fix it. So, after paying $9000.00+ for a new driveway, it is now crack for life. The old driveway had aging surface concerns, but DID NOT have any crack across the entire width after 20 yrs of use. They said it was from snow we had this year. Buyer Beware - We used Aurora Asphalt & Concrete to replace our concrete driveway and sidewalk in 2015. Over the winter, a crack developed on our sidewalk, a place in which we had no problems with our previous 20 year old concrete. We had the company out the following summer and were told they do not cover or fix cracks. We had the company out again this summer as this has now expanded into a much larger split with small pieces of the concrete breaking loose (see picture). I was disappointed that Aurora Asphalt & Concrete would not help with the repair or assist us in finding someone to help. The company has told me: 1. They don't cover cracks 2. This still looks like a crack and we are now beyond our warranty (although we had them out well within the warranty timeframe) 3. They don't do repairs of this small size, even if we were to pay for it 4. They don't give references for other companies who could do the repair When I choose a company, I want to know that they will do quality work, honor that work and help us with headaches down the road. Totally a professional business in disguise. If you are a female needing a new driveway definitely check elsewhere, unless you have a man come over when new asphalt is poured. This company doesn't have any clue about customer service. Not sure what the sales person was supposed to do. Yikes! Hoping the new driveway was done correctly since they threatened to not do it the right way. They have a very nice folder they give you with information in it. Read it very carefully because it is the only communication you get. ( Unless you do something they say is wrong , then you get called nasty names and told you are stupid) It looks very straight and the quality does look pretty good. Not sure the drama was worth it. Received a sealcoating quote for my driveway in a timely manner. Was told I'd receive a text before they came. Did not receive one. Someone came to the door to ask if all of the vehicles were out of the garage and that was the last I heard from them. I did not receive any instructions on care of new driveway or bill. I took a quick peek after a couple hours and thought it was a little sloppy job. I paid the bill over the phone and notified the office with a couple pictures and was told someone will come and look the end of the week at the quality of the job. I verified the following week someone had stopped and that was the end of it. I believe they fixed one spot, otherwise no explanation, no apology, no discount. Maybe I have too high of expectations. Last year we had our asphalt driveway replaced and we were very pleased. This year we had it seal coated. Quality work. My only complaint is that we were not aware that the crew was going to contact us the day of the work to make sure our cars would not be blocked in the garage. While we appreciate the reason behind this, we were out of state in a remote area with no cell service. The only reason the work got done the day we wanted (while we were away) is that our neighbor, who knew about the scheduled day and that we were out of town, reassured the crew that our cars were taken care of. BEWARE!!! Aurora installed our concrete driveway last summer. When the snow melted we discovered our new driveway was riddled with popoffs and scaling. We contacted them and they sent someone out who told us it was because of Minnesota winters and salt. We did not salt the driveway or use deicer. I looked into the causes of popoffs: "Popoffs can be a result of a poor quality concrete mixture, improper finishing, or inadequate curing practices that result in a poor bond between mortar and coarse aggregate particles". The Minnesota winter is not the problem; freezing doesn't cause popoffs unless the aggregate mixture has low quality porous particles. I found many similar bad reviews and several complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. If you have had a similar experience with Aurora, please contact me. We will be taking legal action. And if you're wondering why there are positive reviews: they offered us $50 off if we left a positive review. I am editing mine from last summer. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

As the driveway raises, I have to park my truck outside in the winter elements which then causes my driveway to crack. I could write a long review of my painful experience with Aurora Asphalt but bottom line: I started my driveway and concrete apron/ stair replacement the first week of August 2020. They have just now finished the project. If you're lucky and all goes well, great. If you have any issues with the work, it will take you months and months of phone calls and follow up emails to get them to do the right thing. Wishing I would have seen the poor reviews sooner. We had Aurora install a new asphalt driveway in November 2023. Looked great at the time. When spring arrived, the ground thawed and temps were consistently above 50 during the day, we started getting tire damage any time we parked. Some damage occurred in as little as 10 minutes. Some occurred when an empty utility trailer weighing less than 850 lbs was parked for less than 30 minutes. We have more than 40 spots/pits of tire damage on a 6 month old driveway and haven't even reached summer temps yet. Aurora says the driveway needs to fully oxidize and we need to stop parking on it until it does (we were initially told we could park on it after 2 weeks). They are refusing to honor their warranty and say the damage is not because of a fault in their preparations or poor quality asphalt. They have now stopped responding to my inquiries to have this problem resolved. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality asphalt driveway, dependable warranty or good customer service. Your money is likely better spent elsewhere. read more

Aurora installed a faulty product with obvious blemishes. I notified the company in April and here I sit in mid-September without resolution. Instead of shouldering the responsibility, Aurora, assigned blame to the concrete company and has delayed corrective action sighting mixer / vendor challenges. Bottom line. I paid Aurora not the concrete mixer and the company's use of an inferior product shouldn't be a customer's burden. I do NOT recommend! The first meeting and install went well. However, about a year later you will see the results of a fast install. The driveway has multiple cracks, pebbles are coming up to the service causing the service to be pitted. It looks and is terrible! Drew apparently came by and took pictures a month ago. He has never called us to discuss and I made multiple calls to him with no response. I finally went to a person who does the quotes and he got him to call me back. After placing the blame on the customer service ladies (saying they were supposed to call me back)... he took no responsibility for the poor job done. Everything started off pretty well. The estimate process was easy and I thought that the person that gave me the estimate was relatively easy to work with. Once the work started was where everything went downhill. They technically showed up the day they said they would, but not until after 9pm. They started jack hammering and cutting concrete at our house about 10 feet from our neighbors. After some complaints from the neighbors and ourselves they stopped for the night. Once they starting pouring concrete, they randomly laid out rebar without any plan. They have large sections without any rebar. They claim they "lifted" it but I have video from my backyard camera that proves they didn't. In addition they finished the concrete right before a storm was foretasted and now we have some non-uniform finishes, which would have been prevented if they covered it with plastic, or waited until a clear day. After that they left all sorts of random material left, and didn't even remove many of the wood forms. Once I removed some wood forms you could see some holes that remained. I sent Aurora my pictures and concerns and they couldn't care less. I thought maybe they would give me a discount or come back and fix it but they said that's how they do it, and it should be fine. I'll update this post with how and if the concrete survives the winter. Pros: - Their prices were inline with other concrete customers. Cons: - They make their employees rush through their work. - They don't care about your satisfaction, whatsoever. - They do not clean up after their job. read more

Had Aurora pour a concrete driveway in Sept of 2018. There was no mention of getting it sealed before winter so that salt could not damage it. Their paperwork that was given at the the time said not to use any salt or deicer products the first year. Unfortunatly, it was a year with a lot of snow and salt and salt made its way to the driveway from vehicles. In the spring i sent photos of some of the damage to Aurora and they said it was salt damage and the pock marks were normal. I accept that. But this winter, because its more than a year old, i have been putting down deicer. Not salt. The driveway is literally falling apart. I am sweeping up dustpans of chipped concrete. Called Aurora and they now say that the packet of info that i received says that they recommend not to use any salt or deicer, ever. It does not. I called another concrete company and they said that they would not pour any concrete without putting a sealant on it prior to the first winter. Never. Aurelora never mentions this anywhere in their " packet" of information and they also don't do any sealant. I dont understand how a company can pour concrete, in Minnesota with all its salt, and not seal it. And then have the audacity to say " too bad, no warranty". read more

On October 31st, 2019 Aurora Concrete and Asphalt poured a concrete driveway at our home in St. Louis Park. We had called the day before to express our concerns over the weather forecast for the next 7 days where the lows were going to be from low 30's to the teens. Aurora assured us there would be no problem as they cover driveways with insulated blankets to ensure proper curing. On 11/6/19 they sent an email stating they would remove blankets on 11/11/19 and when they came off we may see some spots that seem discolored. They said this would be "completely normal" and they would fade and concrete would be "symmetrical in color". The blankets were removed and there weren't just "some spots that seemed discolored", it was a mess. We called and sent pictures and were told Adam (the operations mgr) would stop out. The office called back and told us to call back in the Spring if discoloration hadn't cleared up and they would power wash the concrete at that time. We called in early June and sent pictures of driveway again. The office called back and told us Adam would stop out. Adam never called or had anyone in the office call to update us on how Aurora would proceed. We called every week for the next month to get information. Sometimes we were told Adam would call by the end of the week and other times it would be the end of the day. Nothing. We called the 2nd week of July and told the receptionist that it was beginning to feel like Aurora (Adam) was stalling in hopes of us giving up. We were put on hold and eventually told that Adam's notes said he had been researching a remedy and ordering products. Adam eventually called and said they would be out 7/17/20 to apply some kind of acid wash to driveway. Driveway was somewhat better, but still very blotchy. There was no follow up call, so we called at the end of the week to see if that was all they were going to do. We were told they would be out on 7/27/20 between 2:30pm-3:30pm and we told them we would be there. At 4:00pm nobody had showed, so we called to see if they were still coming and they said it would be anther hour or 2. Someone finally showed up at 9pm and said driveway looked bad, applied a treatment and said he could tell right away it wasn't working. The next day upon returning home we noticed overspray on dirt and weeds on driveway perimitier. Nobody bothered to call to ok this with us and let us know what they they were going to do. We took pictures of driveway 2 days later at 8:45pm and sent an email to Aurora on 8/3/20 and said it was unsatisfactory and that we would like a supervisor to contact us. Of course, no response. We called on 8/10/20 to verify they received the email with pictures. They confirmed they had received the email and said Adam would come out 8/13/20. When Adam came we asked what they had put on driveway the previous week and he said it was a tinting product. He said these imperfections couldve happened in ideal weather conditions and that it looked perfectly acceptable. Adam said we could go look at highway concrete and we would see the same look. We asked Adam if if would use pictures of our driveway in advertising Aurora's "quality workmanship" and he responded "yes". Of course, he could hardly say no. When we then told him Aurora should refund some of the $5000 and asked who we should talk to about a partial refund he said he makes those decisions and asked "how much"? We said $1000 and he replied "that isn't going to happen" and then he went on his way. Posted below are pictures of driveway taken (7/30/20) after Aurora's various attempts to remedy the problem. Aurora's literature stresses "customer satisfaction". This look might be fine for a freeway, but we doubt most people would be happy with it at their home. So much for the "symmetrical color" they assured us of in their email. Aurora's customer service was severely lacking, we have had to be the ones to reach out through the whole process.We would caution anyone considering using Aurora Asphalt and Concrete for any home projects. read more

Aurora Asphalt & Concrete doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating. The only thing reputable about this company was the subcontractor who actually poured the concrete & determined that the initial plan and quote for the project was not the way to do the project if we wanted to be sure water drained away from the house - which is what we expected from the beginning but had no way of knowing that the estimator's plan would not have allowed for that drainage!!! It resulted in a significant reduction in the amount of concrete actually used but Aurora expected us to pay for the concrete estimated - not used!! Within moments of starting the project - which was almost impossible to get scheduled with them once we gave them the deposit - they had destroyed our lawn & cut through main tubing of irrigation system. Drew, who had identified himself as the supervisor for the project & was the person running equipment, came to front door & told us water was running everywhere so we had to shut off water to irrigation. He told us he had already contacted Aurora office. A little while later I discovered that our yard, & a small portion of my neighbor's side yard that we had gotten permission for Aurora to go over to access our back yard, was already completely dug up from the equipment. When I saw damage to yard from equipment Drew told us Aurora would take care of it & that daughter of owner, Nikki G (possibly same Nikki G who gave 5 star Yelp rating for Aurora) had been out over lunch and took pictures of damage. Aurora didn't complete removal first day so we had to reschedule electrician so Aurora could come back next day. When no one showed up 2nd day, & repeated calls to Aurora office didn't get any resolution, I researched MN State Contractors licenses & found Aurora's licensed contractors name, found a phone number & called. Person who answered identified herself as wife of owner who said there was probably a miscommunication when the crew didn't show up the morning of the 2nd day, even though they had confirmed just before they left on the 1st day that they would be back first thing the next morning!!! Late in 2nd day a new supervisor & crew showed up. Before having him start he confirmed that he knew we were concerned about damage done previous day (he initially approached me very cautiously because he'd heard I was livid day before) & reiterated that he knew "the office" had already taken pictures & would be repairing the damage to the yards & irrigation system. We agreed to let them continue on project because of the representations made by Aurora's employees - who were the only ones we were ever able to speak to about our concerns - confirmation that Aurora would be taking care of the repairs. Repeated calls to the Aurora office throughout the project, from trying to schedule before start of project, damage done first day, no show 2nd day, I was told no one in office was available to talk with regarding concerns. When I asked Drew, first day supervisor & driver of equipment that caused damage, who owner was & how to contact him/her, Drew told me owner was a silent investor & not available. We would never have let them back on our property without several employees telling us that "the office" knew of our concerns regarding damage & Aurora would be taking care of it. Project took multiple days & I found out at end of project that Ron, Aurora owner, was actually onsite one of the days but never reached out to talk with me, even when I had been in the back yard. When project was completed with significant changes in amount of concrete they actually used compared to bid, we were unable to get anyone to talk with regarding our concerns for the repairs to lawn & irrigation system as well as significant difference in concrete used. 1&1/2 years later still trying to get resolution. They contend that contract stated homeowner is responsible for landscape & irrigation damage. Prior to signing estimate I asked estimator about potential landscape and irrigation damage. He indicated that if all sprinkler heads were marked (we flagged every one of them & pointed them out to Drew before he started) there probably wouldn't be much damage because they'd see the flags. The landscape damage could be some "tread marks" which could probably be fixed with grass seed - we contend employees confirmed that Aurora had taken responsibility to repair damage which is why we allowed them to continue with project to completion knowing that they continued to cause more damage (over $4500) to lawn & irrigation system. They contend that when we agreed to concrete expert's suggestion for modification of concrete installation to insure proper drainage away from house resulting in a much smaller area of concrete being laid at 6" without telling us that we would still be charged for the significantly higher amount of concrete quoted even though it wasn't used, that it was our choice to use smaller amount of concrete!! read more

I am really disappointed in the job done by this company and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. We had them come out and replace our front steps and walkway because the bottom step was sinking and breaking away from the others. They had damaged part of the brick facing next to the walk but left it to us to repair. One year later, the bottom front step is again breaking away from the other steps. I called and emailed showing the problem with pictures. After several more calls (each with a promised return call that never happened), one of their managers came out to look at the steps. He informed me that the problem was not covered under warranty. Really? The whole reason the steps and walkway were replaced was because the step was sinking and they verbally assured me at the time that they steps would now stay intact. Then he said to wait until Spring and they might come out and fill the crack. read more

Aurora replaced my asphalt driveway and installed a concrete apron. Should have known I was going to have trouble on day 1. They came in and ripped up asphalt next to the garage where the concrete apron was going in and then left. I had to call them back to ask why they didn't dig up the rest of the driveway. They said it wasn't part of the job order. After 30 minutes of back and forth. They found the rest of the order. Came back, ripped up the rest of the driveway and then a few days later, concrete and asphalt were installed. This past fall/winter, I started noticing the concrete apron was flaking, and it got worse. I called them, they came out, and said it's from salt damage. I called in two other concrete companies and my general contractor who all stated it was a bad mix of concrete. I called Aurora, explained this to them, and I eventually got Drew to admit they received a bad batch of concrete from their supplier. Fast forward three months later and no returned phone calls and today I finally get a call back after lighting up one of the folks that picked up this morning. Drew told me again that it was due to road salt from my vehicles. I then told him, no, you told me back in April that you received a bad batch of concrete. Aurora put a new patio, step and walkway in my back yard this summer. Within 4 weeks of the install, the concrete began to crack. Attempts to get Aurora to fix this were met with repeated claims that it was not covered by the warranty. The cracks have continued to get worse and I have continued to send updated photos to Aurora showing them this and continue to be met with a "sorry, not covered" response. The concrete is deteriorating, separating and now beginning to have chunks fall out of it. This is all within summer and a mild fall. I am honestly dreading to see what it looks like after a winter of water getting in the cracks and expanding and contracting. I understand that all concrete cracks, but the way the area was prepared and joined was poorly done. I have had some second opinions on this and they are in agreement that this should not be cracking like this so soon. On top of that, my lawn was left strewn with empty Mountain Dew and Gatorade bottles and dirty shirts. I went with Aurora based on decent reviews on Angie's list and the fact that they gave a very reasonable quote for the work. I really wish I would have paid a bit more for work that wouldn't be falling apart within weeks and a company that would stand by their work. read more

Called Aurora concrete and they gave me a bid on March 26th for a walkway and steps. At that time I let them know that I needed to get my home on the market by the middle of May. He let me know that there were road restrictions and as soon as they were lifted they would start the project. They lifted the restrictions around middle of May. I did not receive a phone call I had to find out myself. I asked if they would put me on there schedule and he said that he wouldn't be able to do that but that it was a 2 day job and it would be done after Memorial Day. On Tuesday no one showed up and no phone call on when they were coming so I called them and left a message. On Wednesday afternoon I received a call from Nikki and said "we were going to call you" to let you know we are going to do your project next Wednesday June 6th depending on the weather. I let them know that I was in a contract and that I was now in breach of and could they come on Monday. She said no and wanted to end the call. I let her know that I understood that I was not a priority but I needed them to understand my situation and that I had made a deposit back in march so that I could try to avoid these delays and not get pushed down on their schedule. They were not sympathetic nor very friendly. In fact Nikki was pretty rude and let me know that my estimator would call me if I liked and I replied yes. So Josh Miller calls me and let's me know that they are sending me back my deposit and said they were not going to do the job that I had waited 2 months for. This company wanted to stick it to me. Please beware of their business practices and that they over promise and under deliver. I spoke to another concrete company and they said that this should never had happened and that places like this give them a bad name. I am a realtor and will let as many people know of this company and my husband is an attorney and we are now looking to sue for damages. BEWARE..... read more
