Thankfully, I got a second opinion from Dave's Master Floor Care. Dave carefully inspected the entire floor and explained that refinishing was possible -- and he delivered outstanding results with good value. Dave is thorough and an excellent communicator. He explained the types of wear on my floors and outlined his refinishing strategy step by step. With little room for error on this type of flooring, I appreciated his clear approach -- there's no "undo" button with refinishing! Dave also has tools I've never seen before -- it felt like he had a gadget for every challenge that came up. Plus, he's been doing this for years, so he knows how different stains and woods react. I even learned a bit along the way. And the best part? Dave does the work himself. Sometimes he brings an assistant to help with simple stuff, but you're really hiring him -- not a random crew. After seeing what he did with the floors, I also had him fix some big cracks in my garage and driveway too. Same story: great work, no fuss. If you want someone knowledgeable, equipped, and detail-oriented, I highly recommend Dave's Master Floor Care.

He provided a consultation for my indoor floors, but then I had him also look at my garage floor and he said he was able to do the work I was looking for, which is what I will be reviewing here today. I had a few cracks in my garage floor and was looking to Epoxy it to protect it for the winter. Dave explained to me his process and how it differs from the competition which helps keep his cost low. The best part about Dave was that he stuck to the quote he gave me, with no surprises or additional ask for money, and he started when he said he would, got the job done quick, and finished when he said he would - anyone who has worked with contractors before knows this is a rarity! Dave was respectful and treated the place with care, and I would recommend his work to others. We think the garage looks great! Dave is passionate about his work and did tend to over-explain some things to me, so some people might enjoy that more than others but it was great to hear how much he knew about the subject!

Betty is one of the most clueless people I have ever dealt with. Never realized there was a problem or show any concern for how the job is going. They don't do the work themselves by the way they use subcontractors, so the communication takes even longer and more clumsy. Two days prior I had a very nice, helpful conversation with a woman from their company via telephone. She and I scheduled an appt for Betty to come to our house at 3:00 on 9/5. We were interested in having them refinish our hardwood floors and Betty was going to give us an estimate. On the day of the appt, Betty called me at 3:00 to say she was at the house. I apologized and said my husband was on the way and would be there in a few minutes (later I found out the interstate was down to one lane due to an accident, which is why he was late.) She said she would wait until 3:15 for him. At 3:05 on the dot my husband showed up at the house. While Betty was walking up to the house, my husband pulled our infant out of the car seat, said hello to Betty, then walked to the other side of the vehicle to help my three year old and four year old exit the car. It was then Betty turned around and walked back to her car. My husband assumed she had forgotten something in her car. Instead, she started to drive away. Her window was down and she yelled something out her car window but my husband couldn't hear her because a garbage truck was driving by. She drove off and my husband had no idea what she said. I showed up at the house at 3:15 exactly and was very confused when Betty wasn't there. My husband told me all that had happened so I called her immediately (still having no idea why she drove away or if there was something wrong.) When she picked up her cell phone all I said was "Hi, this is *" The first thing she said was "I am not interested in bidding on your house." and without me saying anything she began saying things like "We had an appt for 3:00 and you are disrespectful for not showing up on time." "I get that your husband has kids to help but he was rude by not giving me a proper greeting." "I will not expose my staff to clientele like you." She continually used phrases like "you people" and "people like you." It was truly bizarre. And even though this woman clearly had some sort of personal issues that had nothing to do with me, I still felt insulted. The only words I could get out were "I'm shocked." She replied "I thought you might be" and then hung up on me. I was stunned that someone in customer service would treat the public in such a manner. Plus it was just so bizarre! I called her back and left a voicemail very kindly asking her to give me a call back so we could discuss the situation with a more gentle tone. I apologized for my husband being 5 minutes late and asked if she could call me back so I could explain the circumstances surrounding that (the accident). At this point I knew we wouldn't do business together but I at least wanted a peaceful resolution. She never did call me back. I found D.B. Flooring on Craigslist and I am clearly disappointed by my experience with them. Next time I will seek out a flooring company by word of mouth from friends. And one final note: we had a carpet installer out to the house that same day, same time. He witnessed the entire Betty encounter, he stayed to give us a carpet quote for a different area of the house, and is very happy to now have us as customers.

Josh was our salesperson, and was tireless, knowledgeable, and patient in working out different options and educating us about the pros and cons. We did some comparison shopping. BCO's good pricing, their responsiveness and promptness, and them doing their own work (not subcontracting) were compelling, so we went with them. After we ordered the work, BCO was able to put the job on schedule within days. The BCO installers accidentally installed the vinyl plank in the wrong area. This error also led to some other issues. When BCO realized this, it immediately acknowledged its error and responsibility, and worked to correct as soon as it could. The BCO installers were back the next day to start addressing the issues, and Eric and another employee even visited the job after their workdays, just to evaluate and determine solutions. Matt (general manager) got involved at the end to make sure that we were satisfied with the resolution. (We were!) However careful a company is, some type of error will happen sometime to that company - that's a fact of life. How the company - and the people at the company - respond sets the great ones apart. And Bloomington Carpet One, through its actions and the actions of its employees, clearly distinguishes itself as a great company!
