I hired Show Plumbing, LLC to clear a clog in my main AC condensate drain line. Unfortunately, the…read moreservice was poorly diagnosed and improperly performed, nearly causing significant water damage inside my HVAC unit. The technician only cleared the drain at the entry point near the sink trap but never verified that the line was fully clear. A blockage remained about one foot further down the line. He then installed a 90-degree elbow on the secondary (overflow) drain line, pointed upward, claiming it was to test drainage. This modification actually restricted the overflow path and caused condensate to back up inside the air handler. As a result, water pooled inside the unit and leaked through the seams of the drain pan -- something that should never happen with a properly functioning primary and secondary drain system. Within an hour of the technician leaving, I cleared the remaining blockage myself and corrected the overflow elbow orientation. The problem resolved immediately. When I contacted Show Plumbing requesting a partial refund, they sent a supervisor (Jason). Instead of acknowledging the incomplete work and the issues created, he defended the original service. He did not address that: - The primary clog was never fully cleared - The modification to the overflow drain contributed to the backup - I had to fix the problems myself I declined any further work due to concerns about additional unnecessary modifications. Despite the clear errors in diagnosis and execution, there was no accountability or offer of compensation. HVAC condensate drainage is a straightforward gravity system. A professional plumber should fully verify the line is clear end-to-end before making any changes, especially ones that can disable safety features like the overflow drain. Because none of these basic standards were met, I cannot recommend Show Plumbing LLC.

When he arrived I was told that no credit for the $175.00 trip charge would be given toward the cost of doing the work. In other words, I would owe them for the trip charge even if I elected to do the work. This is very unusual from any other service vendor I have ever used. They always remove the trip charge if the work is done. Now that I was into them for the excessive trip charge, I was told that the installation of the shower trim would be almost $1.000.00 and that did not include the trim parts which I already owned. I should have sent him on his way and cut my losses but I regretfully allowed him to do the work. After he finished the water pressure was very poor and he told me that the parts might be defective and to call Moen the manufacturer. Not wanting to ever see Carl Skelly again, I called another plumber out to take a look at the problem. He completely disassembled the shower trim and removed 3 flow restrictors and screens (which I asked Skelly to remove) and put it all back together. The water pressure is better than ever now. Skelly Plumbing is a ripoff and takes advantage of their customers by charging an excessive non refundable trip charge. The work was unsatisfactory and this "expert" plumber didn't even know how to remove the flow restrictors to allow useable water flow volume. Buyer beware!!!

Eventually, after running a camera we determined the root cause was roots perforating my concrete pipe. I had two plumbers quote a replacement for the concrete pipe. Wedgeworth quoted $3250 w/ 5yr warranty and Beacon quoted $2560 w/ 10yr warranty. Beacon completed the job quickly and for the agreed upon price--while also identifying errors Wedgeworth had made when they ran the camera. After dealing with several plumbers in the Spring Branch area over the last year, I would highly recommend Beacon Plumbing. Their prices were lower, and their quality of work was greater. A few minutes after, water started coming out of the toilet -from top and underneath-. This was happening fast and, while in panic mode- started placing towels towels to contain the nasty water. In other words, we were facing a septic emergency, and we needed professional help "pronto". After wasting almost 2 hours -while waiting for one of the big names in plumbing- I decided to call Beacon around 10:30pm. They did not only pick up the phone and confirm the service call within 45min, Beacon actually arrived -ready to tackle the problem- on time! Matt and Adrian started working right away, and in minutes they provided an assessment of the situation and a quote. Not only Matt and Adrian were extremely professional, but also their customer service skills were above par. This was a very tricky job; nevertheless, Matt and Adrian were able to temporarily resolve the situation and start arranging the action items required to permanently resolve the sewage drain issue the following morning. Ona side note, while Matt was walking me through the plan for the following morning, Adrian was working on cleaning all the affected area, and the results were outstanding. Things were almost like nothing happened. The following morning, Beacon sent Matt, Adrian, and Omar. Omar was in-charge of making the repairs, and the results were excellent. He was able ro replace the affected pipe and have things back ro normal in no-time. I have ro say that the quality of work, professionalism, and personalized attention were excellent. I cannot thank enough Matt and his crew for saving the day. Beacon will be my go-to plumbing service provider for the years to come. Also, they are fairly priced!
