Popcorn, fresh fish, meat, flowers, all kinds of produce, wool, ton of food trucks, live music. My friend got the Japanese pancakes and I had a bite. Very fluffy and a touch of sweetness. I had a hankering for eggs so I found a truck called Mum's Crepes mmmm mm I got a nice piping hot cheese and mushroom omelette $8 plus 1.50 per extra topping. Very neat marketplace experience. The produce is cheaper than the supermarkets.

Mind you we all love food so this was the perfect spot. There were so many tents lined up and so many different vendors to choose from. It was like super farmer's market compared to what I'm used to at home in Hawai'i. We walked around for bit just eyeing out all the different food. There is definitely something for everyone here. Also, a great place to buy produce and meat. Probably for a cheaper price than you would find in a grocery store. Because we couldn't decide on one food stand we decided to get food from multiple ones lol. We got out drinks from a tea stand. We got liliko'i and mango teas. There was one stand where they were selling breaky sammies for $5 and they were huge! We got one of those and a gian samosa from an Indian vendor. The samosa was almost the size of my hand. Ain't gonna find any samosas like that in Hawai'i unless you make em yourself. We also got pork belly shish kabobs. It was a great experience and so much fun too! If you're ever in Brisbane I recommend going to Rocklea markets. Everyone just seemed so happy and excited even though it was a bit rainy that day. It was also a good place for families. My boyfriend and I will be back next time we're in Brisbane again.

Fresh Seafood delivered weekly on a Thursday…read more The prices at this place are pretty comparable to that of a fish market, their produce area always fresh and they have 2-3 types of salmon that you can grill up and crispy skin. The guys behind the counter are always very knowledgeable about where the fish are from and are pretty honest about the way to cook them, and if they're not for you. All that aside though, what I really really super duper love about this place, is their half price cooked seafood after 4pm everyday! Woohoo! Get a huge crumbed basa fillet and some chips for $3? How can you beat that. Just wait a little and the big sign will appear on top of the counter and away you go! They also have a seafood shop in the foodcourt of Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre so they must be doing well.

This place is pretty good for a fishmongers located in a shopping centre. It is decent in size and they have quite a trendy looking fit out... For a seafood shop that is. I like it! Of course, in addition to its attractive appearance, it does stock quite the range in fish and other seafoods. I especially love their big king prawns in the front window. It gets me time and time again. I could never resist purchasing a kilo or two. You'll find plenty of fish, prawns, squid on display and some chilled products in their fridges. The staff are very helpful and really know their stuff when it comes to fish. I'm still new to cooking seafood creatively, I usually, like to just slap it on the grill and douse it in lemon juice. There is plenty of time to learn different ways of cooking seafood, but for now, I'm getting hungry just writing about it. I think, it's time for me to stop by there today and buy a few bags full of seafood. And I think, you should too! Just in time for the weekend.

Hidden Gem How did I not find this place earlier?…read moreOnce you find it you'll remember the charm. This is a gorgeous vintage feel cafe that has ample seating and space. There is on street parking. It's opposite a cute little kids playground. Walk up and either put in the order or find a table - there is table service - quick, friendly and efficient. The menu has some old favs like crumpets with passion fruit butter and the usual eggs and toast - both are great. Breakfast Burger is a very tasty meal. The coffee is good. This place is now one of my favorites - love the general store charm. Ohh! It's also dog friendly ( sitting outside) - they serve a puppycino - paw stamp of approval from outer chocolate lab.

We were seated in the back where I got a clear view of the entire restaurant. The place is buzzing! We started off with some coffee, because that's what you do when in Australia. The coffee culture is HUGE here. After everyone arrived, we got down to business. We ordered: Crispy Corn Fritters: absolutely delicious! Crispy corn fritters soft on the inside are served with perfectly scrambled eggs. Not on the menu Breakfast Sandwich: this was for the kids who couldn't find anything on the menu they liked. Essentially a bacon and egg sandwich (on a burger bun). Smoked Pork Hock Hash: my least favorite dish is smoked pork hock potato cake dotted with green harissa, avocado, kefir tahini, and finished with two poached eggs. It wasn't bad, just kinda boring when compared to the rest of the stuff. Eggs Bender: Billykart's version of eggs Benedict. Two poached eggs and a respectable Hollandaise sauce paired with house smoked Ora King salmon, and a side of sauteed mustard greens. No traditional English muffin here, instead a thick slice of rustic sourdough bread substitutes. Aussie Asian Eggs: my favorite dish. Also, possibly the most creative. A cake of fried noodles is topped with grilled prawns and bacon plus two deep fried eggs over the top. Food is good, really good. If you're in the area, definitely stop by.

Get your $6.99 rump here, get your $6.99 here, you won't FIND prices this cheap anywhere else,…read more$6.99 for your grain fed rump everyone, come on up. I have respect for these guys who stand in front of shops and yell out the specials. The young man was particularly cute on this day when I heard the speaker go, so I went to check out his 'rump steak'. MMmm yes, very tender. Perving aside, thus started my 15 year love affair with Andrew's Quality Meats. It sounds gross, like who the hell has a love affair with a butcher shop? Me. Okay? They always do a great rib fillet. They do $2.99/kg chicken drumsticks practically all year round (my honey soy drummies are fantastic), the cuts are always good ones, not sloppy fatty ones (you know what i'm talking about), they do a great roast chicken breast with macadamia and cranberries inside (oven roasted 180 degrees celcius for 40 minutes) and they do amazingly lean sausages that taste even better than the fatty ones. They will french cut the pork rack for you, they will practically kill a cow and slice the rump off if they are out, they will crumb your lamb cutlets in front of you if they have none in the display window. In fact, Andrew even told me how best to cook my rib fillet roast as i'd never cooked one before all those years back. The shop was busy, and he took the time to pull mea side and make sure I knew what I was doing, to get the best out of the great cut of meat i'd just paid for. They also do family packs, bbq packs, cheap bones and mince for your dogs... the mince is minced fresh daily as well. 2kg of Premium 4 star beef mince for $16. 4 stars people! The meat isn't glad wrapped up, they do great turnover and they take orders over the phone, there isn't much these great bunch of guys won't do. Ask you how your day is and mean it, oh sorry, there are a couple of ladies there to. Definetely get your meat here, if you're into the freshest meat around anyway.

For pre-party preparations, this supermarket has saved me on more than one occasion- which is why I love it so much. If I forget something, which often occurs, I just drive down one road and I quickly grab what is needed. Sometimes, I feel as though I treat this Foodworks as a use-and-abuse situation, because I hardly ever come here to browse and pick up groceries which weren't on my list like I do when in Woolies. Foodworks grocery selection may be limited but if you pay close enough attention you would find that their prices for many popular items are much cheaper than Coles and Woolworths. Make sure you check dates for the items in the fridge, as I've found that most times the products are close to expiry. But that doesn't stop me from buying, because shopping here would mean I needed those immediately. Friendly staff, there's always hot BBQ chicken available and most times, you will end up finding what you need. Many of my desserts and food have been saved by this Foodworks- Thanks!!
