The wildlife center located at Sinnemahoning State Park is amazing. There is a really nice…read moreinteractive exhibit about the nature and history of the area, with some excellent kid-friendly features like a cave to crawl through to find animal displays. It also features a nice large classroom space with activities and short films - on the day we visited, it was alternating between videos on elk and eagles. The restrooms were exceptionally clean and in good condition. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The park has a lot of things to explore - and keep your eyes peeled for elk as you go! There was a sighting of a large bull while we were there. There is a reservoir created by a dam that offers opportunities for boating and fishing, and the dam is a great place to get a good overlook of the area. They offer pontoon boat tours on Sundays during parts of the year, but unfortunately, ours got cancelled due to the boat needing a repair. Camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing areas are also available in the park. We really enjoyed our visit here!

Fortunately, I didn't! I stopped at the wild center- a gorgeous looking and clean facility with a very friendly staff. They rent out kayaks, canoes, life jackets, and bikes for a donation of "any amount". Later I spent 2 hours photographing all the verdant beauty of spring. Such a gorgeous park. Couldn't catch sighting of an elk or eagle, but saw lots of frogs in the creek. By the way, they lend out FREE skis if you want to cross country ski there. They have a long and beautiful path that any beginner can do!

The setting was serene. A few families and individuals were fishing nearby during our stay (the water is well stocked), and everyone was very polite. We actually enjoyed chatting with some of them. It added a nice social touch without ever feeling crowded. Most of the time, our site still felt very private and tucked away. The campground staff and owners were genuinely hospitable and made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a quiet, scenic spot with good people and great fishing, I highly recommend this place.

All RV sites have water and 30 amp electrical service. There are two dump stations on site. Enjoy the tranquility of nature as your fish for trout and bass in our two on site ponds, great for kids. We have a fully stocked bait and tackle shop on site. Campers can also enjoy water activities, which include swimming and tubing in the creek. In the winter, enjoy snowmobiling right from your campsite as we are located right beside the southern potter snowmobile trail. There are also several ATV trails close by for your enjoyment.

The campground is wide open with a beautiful view of the lake. The grounds are kept immaculate and it is so quite and peaceful even though it's not very private. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked and the host was around even day checking on things. She was wonderful! We loved our stay and our campsite. Can't wait to be back!

I was impressed by the inclusion of park staff for educational programming and talks about the the galaxy stars and more. They had telescopes for people to use as well which was pretty cool. Neat place well worth the visit on a beautiful starry night! If I had one complaint and it isn't park related, people really need to abide by the red light rules. We were absolutely blinded on several occasions by people with cell phones and other white light sources and it definitely takes you out of the experience. It really is that dark and it matters!

For those that hold family gatherings or other large grope picnics it also has numerous picnic areas that can be rented. We, until recently, lived only a short distance from the Park. Today we went for a ride and came to the Park to relax and decided to have a dish on Ice Cream. I choose Mint Chip and my wife had Black Raspberry. We sat on the porch and enjoyed our food as well as the beauty of the park. If you have not visited Black Moshannon Park you should give if a try. You will enjoy the beauty and tranquility.

Black Moshannon State Park is the place for people like me, and I reckon I'll return if I ever get the chance to meet Phillips Burg and decide to live in his town one day. The campsites, while basic, did the job with ease. I've never had a better s'more in my life in those fire pits. The falling acorns, however, made me have several Sir Isaac Newton moments and even gave my camping tent a concussion. It was nuts, but I slept like a dead dog every night. The 20 miles of hiking trails are excellent, and the bathhouse was suprisingly clean. I'll be back once I figure out what I'm doing with my life. The end.

Lyman Run is one of my favorite places to visit in Potter County. It has something for everyone…read morewhether you like camping, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, swimming, hiking, ATV trails. The campground has added a play area with equipment. There are bathrooms/showers. It is very picturesque and great for those interested in photography. There is abundant wildlife. I personally have seen owls, black bear, eagles, bobcats, deer, snakes, porcupine, raccoon, and more. Even if you can't physically hike, I love that this park has some dirt roads that contain two outlooks, one with a view of the lake and the other with rolling mountains. I highly recommend.

I love open water swimming, so I was pleased to have an area dedicated to swimming. Ok, I wish we could swim in the whole lake, but I'll take what I can get. (They were calling for a possible tornado and we left early in order to get to the park before the bad wether.) We got there an hour early before check in and our cabin wasn't ready. Fine! We drove around and explored the park. There were booked pavilions with kids birthdays and a couple of graduations. We saw one park ranger with a tactical vest on and couldnt figure out why. We've NEVER seen rangers with those types of vests on especially since he was only walking around checking in with the kids birthday parties and graduations. Seemed totally excessive for the tactile gear. We came back 15 minutes before check in to the office thinking they would give us the key since the horrible weather started and they still told us to come back at 3. It was a torrential downpour and calling for a tornado we were forced to wait in our car for the 15 minutes. Went back in at 3 and they finally gave us our keys. We stayed at a cabin and the bathrooms definitely need a HUGE remodel. Once the rain stopped the ranger in the tacticle gear made it a point to come by our cabin and creep around. We thought that was weird. We stayed 4 nights and every single night the cabin beside our played very loud church music. It started at 6pm and went on until about 10 pm. Every. Single. Night. The whole cabin colony heard it. Quiet hours were to start at 9 pm. No one from the park office ever told them to stop playing their church music. We had no peace and were forced to listen to it for our entire trip every night we were at our cabin. We will not be back to this park. There are plenty of other state parks that are WAY more welcoming than this one.
