I like the warmth cozy ambience in this shop. I like the way they set up their lounge. The ladies who work here seems to know everyone around here. I'm new to this area and I'm guessing she notice my hesitations. She is really lovely and accommodate me well. Iced blended mocha was good (got it with coconut milk), Vanilla Chai Latte with plain soy milk was ridiculously good (makes Starbucks' version taste like dirty dish water). Prices are comparable to Starbucks, but with FAR more variety of flavor add-ins, and a uniquely diverse non-dairy selection (plain soy, vanilla soy, rice, coconut, hemp, almond...). I am not a coffee connoisseur. The review that says their coffee is burnt might be right. All I know is I liked it. FOOD: Full sandwich with a bag of chips only $5.50. Huge bagel with cream cheese, $2.75. Massive Costco-sized muffins, $2. Several flavors of oatmeal. Shiny candies. DRINKS: Massive tea selection (there were like 8 flavors of Chai alone). Italian sodas, smoothies, full coffee menu. The barista was friendly, sweet, helpful, and patient, which is a huge plus for me because I don't drink coffee often, so me at a coffee counter sounds very much like a tourist in a foreign restaurant whose language they don't know. She was also cool about the coupon I brought in. Variety of seating, including a table for 5 in the back, and a little gift/merch book shelf. Bookshelf by the bathrooms lets you borrow and loan books to other patrons, which the nerd in me loved. The atmosphere was pleasant and warm, without being pretentious (I'm looking at YOU, Starbucks). Location is just off the main road enough to feel peaceful, but still be easy to get to. As home roaster, when I see my 3 choices of bulk beans- dark Viennese, medium Viennese or light Viennese, the operative word is Viennese here which essentially a dark nearly burnt roast. Some folks (my daughter) love this. I don't. A true medium roast lets you taste the bean "not the burn". To be fair, the shop is immaculate, the barista brilliant, and lots of space for great little conversations. My advice, get the tea (unless you like the burn). read more

This has been one of the best coffee shops we've found on the Kitsap Peninsula. We had grown spoiled by the small batch coffee roasters in Portland and along the Oregon North Coast, and when we moved to Silverdale, we had a really hard time finding our "coffee home". Austin Chase in Silverdale has consistently good coffee and the baristas Linda and Tonya are super friendly and great at what they do. Overall pretty marginal coffee shop. The roast is extremely dark, which is not necessarily bad but not to my taste. The finished product is not awful but iffy, the building is laking in atmosphere and I'm sorry but I don't like my cappuccino served in a mug. All said and done Austin Chase Coffee is just okay. I used to come here now and then because aside from Starbucks there aren't many sit down coffee shops in town, I love coffee but I've never liked the coffee here. It always tastes like they burn my shots- or maybe it's just a burnt toast to begin with, but I've always love the Italian quiche, so over they years I've come in for the quiche and to have seating within a cafe. However the last few times I've gotten it over the span of the pst year it's always had a burnt crust in addition they started to charge a fee for customers paying with card. There are so many amazing coffee stands in the areas, It's a shame Austin Chase doesn't have better coffee and consistency because sit down cafes are great for meeting with friends or getting work done! read more

Let me start by saying I love Austin Chase Coffee! Better than any Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Tully's... Whatever. So when my husband and I found a minute to ourselves to have a coffee while the kids were in school we came here. I had got coffee here a handful of times before (there is no drive up). This experience jaded me. First our coffee was boiling hot. I am no over exaggerating when I say that we sat in the shop for 15 min, then went to Costco and walked around, got back into the car and our drinks were finally cooled enough to drink. It's obvious they just heated the milk out of habit (this also burns the sugar molecules in the milk and often adds a bitter flavor to the coffee. That may be a forgivable offense cause their coffee is hands down better than most. But what granted the rating of 1 star was the behavior of the women behind the counter. One was chatting with regulars and the other was taking drink orders and making them. After sitting down to wait for our drinks (at a table in the back away from everyone) we started to hear their conversation. They must have been talking loud to make up for the sound of the screaming milk steamer (FYI it makes that noise when either the milk is too hot, or there is not enough air moving through the wand). But even after we got our scalding drinks we heard their conversation loudly. And to our dismay it was littered with f bombs and every other kind of foul language. I'm an adult, I hear them all the time, but I don't expect to hear them coming from staff and that loudly in front of customers. The kicker was that my husband and I as we were talking about leaving because we were so uncomfortable one of the women behind the counter dropped the G..D.... louder than anything and then everyone started laughing.
