Caffe Cocina "The Good, the bad, and the ugly" Caffe Cocina is surprisingly busy, perhaps due the the Finn Hill Road drive through? I have very mixed feelings about this local Poulsbo, and soon to be Silverdale, establishment. The good: Caffe Cocina's food is arguably the best reason to visit one of their cafes. In particular, the chicken chorizo breakfast burritos are really delicious! The drink selection is extensive with some innovative twists on lattes and other coffee and tea based drinks. Unfortunately, I really judge a coffee shop on its ability to brew a really flavorful cup of black coffee - I will come back to that later in the review. The bad - The Finn Hill road location has mediocre to bad customer service depending on the day and the shift. Unless you are a charismatic individual under the age of 30, you are likely to be received with no shortage of attitude and general disdain...as if it is your pleasure to be ignored for as long as possible and then to have your order taken with the type of apathy that I would normally approach a Monday morning work conference call where you know you are going to have to listen to that one coworker that seems enamored with their ability to ask questions on points already sufficiently covered...I digress. The downtown location has much friendlier service, so head there if you do not require drive through services. The ugly - The coffee and coffee beans, probably tolerable if you are having an espresso-based drink, but I would shy away from the drip coffee and the beans for brewing coffee at home. The coffee is frankly over roasted, too oily, and decidedly one note for most of the beans that I have tried. I have sampled dark, medium, light roasts and single origins and have not tried anything worth recommending. Should this have been a 3 or a 4 star review? That depends on the location you are visiting and what you are visiting for. If you simply focus on the downtown location, I would by default increase this to a (4) star review due to the excellent customer service and the fact that they offer a pour over (unfortunately, the coffee is still mediocre). If you are visiting the Finn Hill location for anything other than the food, I stand by my (3) star review which is frankly generous given my experience most visits. read more

For those that like fresh roasted coffee and well roasted coffee this is the place for you. In all of Kitsap this roaster stands above the rest. Small batch and roasted well never burnt. This location specifically is my favorite. (They have 1 downtown Poulsbo and another opening in Silverdale) It's the OG and everything about it whispers cozy coffee shop. A perfect place for a quiet date or a place to do some office work or meet with a friend. Even the outdoor seating is cozy. It's not a huge place so it's kind of forced into being cozy but they have used the space well. Even have a drive through. Though fair warning as this is the best coffee around that drive through line leaks onto the main rd and you may be better off just going inside. They also have such unique specials for espresso based drinks. I have never been led wrong by their flavor combos. The also sell single origin ethiopa coffee and canned cold brew, 2 things I am always on the hunt for. read more

I used to be a daily morning regular of the Finn Hill location (as in, about 2 years ago), but gosh, the staff has really gone downhill since returning to the area. In the last month or two, I've gone to the Finn Hill location maybe 5 times and each time, the ladies at the window are very unfriendly and seem so annoyed. The baristas that used to be there almost every single day in 2022, I want to say their names are Jenne and Nyomi?, were AMAZING. They got to know me, knew my favorite order when I pulled up, and were always sooo sweet! I'll continue to go to Caffe Cocina because I love their drinks and food but I really miss the other two baristas. read more

Caffè Cocina has one of the best cold brews I've ever had. It feels like a hidden gem with a drive-thru that makes it super convenient, and inside the café has a cozy, welcoming vibe with a community feel. The only downside was being charged $1 for a cup of ice water, which was a little off-putting. Still, the coffee is excellent and I'd definitely come back. read more

Hubby and I went to Caffe Cocina in Poulsbo for breakfast today. Both got a coffee and the chicken chorizo hash burrito. They have a good size menu for breakfast and lunch options. The burrito was delicious! Full of egg, potato and meat and it did not disappoint. It was a good size and we left full. The coffee was OK. It was not gross, but wasn't as bold in flavor that we like and that's just our preference. The place is really cozy and the staff was super friendly. Parking is limited and can be a little tricky, but there is also a drive-through. We like that they did their own coffee roasting on site! Caffe Cocina has the potential to be the place to go in Poulsbo for a good start to your day with a coffee and a great breakfast item, which it normally is. However every place of business in the customer service industry has its off days and this was one of those days. I made an order for two drinks and 3 items from their breakfast menu to go. Per the usual process there, and many other similar establishments, I paid for my services and tipped before I ever received the services I paid and tipped for. 40 minutes later and multiple customers later following me in line, an employee noticed a had been waiting for a few minutes and kindly asked if I needed anything. I explained what I was still waiting for and 10 minutes later (almost and hour after placing my order) I was back to going on with my day only to figure out the items I received were not what I ordered. To be clear, the one star post is not because I had to wait. The issue I have as a paying customer is I was required to pay and tip for a service that I had not yet received that ended up not being a service worthy of the tip, and when that was made obvious to the employees, they had an opportunity to try to make it right but chose not to and went on with collecting their money and tip from the next customer. read more

If you love pumpkin spice latte, don't go to Starbucks go to this wonderful place. I had a spice chai tea latte with the pumpkin spice and it was absolutely heavenly. There's no strange aftertaste. There is no sweetened condensed milk in the pumpkin spice mixture and as an extra delight, I had their mixed berry scone. There are no words to explain how I felt with the first bite of that scone. I immediately wanted to order a dozen and eat them all in the parking lot. This is definitely the place to go for autumn delights and anytime of year. I wish I could give 10 stars read more

I've been to this place 3 times and 3 separate times they've messed up my order. I shouldn't have returned after the first time since they used regular milk in my latte instead of soy. It seems like that wouldn't be a big deal except I'm lactose intolerant and whole milk gives me incredibly painful cramps that last the rest of the day. The second and third times they mislabeled the drinks and I once again consumed dairy which made me hurt again. I never really bother to leave reviews but seriously avoid this place. I'd hate to have been someone with a more serious dairy allergy and deal with a pretty awful mistake like that. read more

OMG! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I was just looking for a quick meal after my MRI that wasn't typical fast food. I wasn't feeling great and really needed something yummy but not time consuming, and I didn't want to get out of the car. I accidentally found Caffe Cocina (Finn Hill Rd location), and we decided to try it out. We went through the drive-through. The owner(?) walked outside to our car window while we were waiting, to take our order personally. She was patient and friendly. The food was AMAZING! We got a couple of espresso milk shakes (YUMMMMM!). The BLETA (bacon, lettuce, egg, tomato, avocado) sandwich on multigrain wheat. So, so good. My DIL got the bacon, chicken, ranch wrap (also comes in a salad), which she said was delicious and well balanced. And then there was the pastry! I felt I deserved it after my MRI ordeal. I asked for an apple turnover, but this was no apple turnover I've ever had. It was slightly warmed croissant bread with what looked like hand-made apple pie filling, not too sweet or goopy or cinnamon-y. Just perfection. And on top of all that, the prices weren't outrageous. This is my second visit...I came back because I really enjoyed my first experience. The ladies behind the counter today were unfriendly and dismissive, seeming very bothered to have to do their job. I placed my order for a breakfast sandwich and coffee....$20 is a bit steep. She asked for my name, which she did not elect to use when announcing that my coffee was up, though I recognized my drink order. Nearly 15 minutes later, I got up to see if my sandwich was ready and found it had been sitting on the bar for some time, likely because they did not use my name to call it out. I noticed that it had been made with the incorrect bread and advised them of this. The employee then replied with "well, that was what was on the ticket" as if the mistake was not theirs...which I assure you, it was, as this bread was a type that I would never have ordered. No apology, nothing. She flatly stated..."I'll get it re-made." The second sandwich came out quickly and was delicious...just like last time. Stopped by here today for coffee and ordered a half wrap. The girl working the register was young and clearly could not have cared less about her job. My mom ordered after me and got her food immediately when we sat and mine never came. I went inside twice and finally asked about it and the same girl who checked me out asked what the name on the order was, I said that she never asked me but told her the order. She wrote it down and walked the ticket back to the kitchen and then came out and completely ignored me again, I asked if it had ever got put in and she said "it got put in but it got missed" and nothing else, not a sorry or a care in the world. It looked promising at first since their coffee is roasted on site. They've become so slow getting through the drive through line, I have no idea what the change has been. There have been several instances when they've taken twenty minutes to get through two cars. Ordered a French vanilla cappuccino and it did not taste like one at all. Also tried the new item, honey mint coffee something? It was ok - tasted like a peppermint patty in coffee form. Pretty lengthy wait time for two coffees and one person in front. Just wasn't impressed with the quality of coffee, or the coffee menu. Couldn't ask for anything more from this charming little roadside kitchen I've driven by probably a thousand times without stopping. Quaint and tidy little indoor dining area with a few seats extra at the bar, this place has an eclectic mix of things with which to stuff the face and it all looks and smells amazing! Great little hidden coffee shop right off one of the main roads in Poulsbo! Coffee, food, service, and prices are all great. Offers a variety of breakfast and Brunch entrées as well as coffees and smoothies. This place does offer the convenience of a drive thu so customers do not have to get out of their vehicle to order however ordering inside is an option (minus indoor dining due to COVID restrictions). One day, when COVID indoor dining restrictions are removed, Caffe Cocina has an comfortable indoor ambiance for lounging, work, study etc. Note- Caffe Cocina does have outdoor seating areas for when the PWN does have those rare sunny days. Parking lot is a bit cramped but let's be honest, you aren't here for the parking you're here for the amazing food and drinks. Highly recommend! read more
