I would never want their jobs but they do it and for an affordable rate. There are a 1000 reasons to not be your child's ONLY driving teacher. Yes you schedule only a few lessons at a time but every week is different anyway and I have NEVER not had at least 2 lessons available after our LATE school release in a week available for driving as well as the second hour for observing. Imagine entrusting a 2-ton weapon to a child whose brain is not fully developed ... would you really want to rely on passing on your own bad driving skills to a kid who is going to be talking on a cell phone and using i-tunes while they drive no matter how many times you say "Mwuaaa Whaa Mwuah Mwaa"? We like knowing that our kids learned to drive from someone else. Sure, we took them out initially and showed them the basics, but sooner or later... usually sooner, some disagreement would ensue. One kid getting driving lessons entailed so many messed up schedules, lost paperwork, missing certifications - every interaction required repeated calls and often in person visits. Everyone is pleasant but no one seems to be able to do their job. Definitely don't recommend and in spite of the convenience of the location we won't be using them again. read more

This school took our money but now our daughter cannot complete the course because she's too short to drive their cars and they refuse to make any accommodation for her disability. According to ADA regulations, Driving Schools are required to make these accommodations. We are just getting the runaround. read more

I called in January to schedule driving lessons for my adult son and was told to call back in March to get him set up to start lesson in May when he will be home from college. Now they claim there are no instructors because of COVID?! COVID is diminishing. What is wrong with this place? Some extremely rude lady actually hung up on me?! I have to agree with other reviewers....the classroom portion is beneficial. Their school pickup is very convenient and they prepare the student well to apply for the driving permit. Had I done more research I WOULD NOT purchase the instructor lead driving practice. After getting his permit, I tried to schedule the first session and was told that the first available time would be 4 weeks out. I then asked if I could schedule all 7 sessions, just to get them on the calendar and was told no. Their stated process is that once a student is on the rotation, they will call me after he has driven to schedule his next drive time (which will be 3-4 weeks out from the scheduling time). I naively assumed that, having been a week past his first driving session, it would be safe to call them to schedule the next session. I was informed that no, they will have to call me NEXT WEEK to schedule his next session, since it's only been a week since his last session. At this rate, it will take him almost a full year to accomplish the 7 sessions I paid for. I will be investigating my options for completing the instructor lead portion elsewhere or applying for a full license without them. my advice is to avoid Austin Driving School for instructor-lead driving. read more

Great location, they will pick students up at Westlake High School for driving lessons and the driving lessons themselves are going well. The instructor has been very patient and informative with my son. However, and it a VERY BIG however, trying to schedule driving lessons so your student can get behind the wheel to actually learn how to drive is absolutely HORRIBLE. One is required to call in, or show up at the office, during one specific time during the week (right now it's 3 pm on Wednesday) to sign up for a very limited number of slots. If you can't get there, or get through on the phone, at that time you lose any opportunity for driving lessons for the next week. They will only schedule one week out. I just spent 25 minutes hitting redial on my phone, finally got through to find there was no one on the other end of the phone. I submitted to about 4 more minutes of listening to people talking, the secretary taking appointments from people in the office, and finally yelled over and over for about 60 seconds "Can anyone hear me??" until someone picked up. She informed that she could hear me yelling the entire time. Really? Well, how about acknowledging my call??? Crazy awful system and it needs to be fixed! read more

We are having a horrible experience with Austin driving school in Garland, tx location. We enrolled our family member in June 2015 thinking that to finish her driver ad in few months before she apply for college. They are worst when it comes to giving appointment for drive time . We have been calling every Wednesday and Friday to schedule a appointment . They have been telling us that they do not have any appointment available . I am not sure if they are over booking their students or they are not organized about scheduling their students. I never had that problem when I attended other driver's class in Richardson ,TX. They are not helpful when u tell them about your concern. I even called their main office in Austin, TX. They are not helpful at all. They are keep telling u to call Wednesday & Friday . I am beyond frustrated about their service & their organization skill. I would highly recommend all the parents out there to look for other driving classes except Austin driving school . Their main office is not concern at all about when your kid will get appointment and will get done with driving class at all. This might apply to all the location . Horrible overall !!! read more

I'm an adult driver, and just got my first DL today after four classes (had some practice time in between). Cheryl was very helpful, and she knew what would be tested, and was very professional. My daughter called Austin Driving School at (512) 280-4499, trying to schedule driving lesson with them. She was told to come to the actual office location for the schedule. First of all, it should be so inconvenient that we could not schedule either online or even directly over the phone, that we were told to go to the physical location. Second, the phone number on the website (512) 280-4499 is the main number for all locations. The person who picked up our call should have given us the office number so we can call the office directly to save our trip, time, and traffic. What if we drive all the way there, then figure out no available schedule. We will be willing to remove this comment (for good) as Austin Driving School responds they will certainly improve. read more

I am 18 and I took my drivers Ed day class here and my in car driving through Austin driving school and it was a very good experience. They helped me schedule my test and even my driver Cheryl drove me to pflugerville to take the driving test and practice before hand. I would definitely recommend my driving instructor Cheryl, she was very nice and helpful and fun to talk to in the car. I passed the test first try, and definitely couldn't have done it Without her. I would never recommend Austin Driving School. I had the unfortunate experience of signing my younger sister up at the Burnet location. It took them nearly 2 full months to schedule the first practice drive. During that wait we called every week, and never received satisfactory call backs or information. Finally I called the central office and was on the phone for 26 minutes to get clear information. The office was unapologetic and inflexible, said that I was only being difficult because they weren't doing "exactly what I asked" and that it's all because "you misunderstood"... . No stars for customer service. Unfortunately it would cost more to transfer to a different school so we're stuck here for now. read more

The experience I have had with this school so far has been varying from disappointment to shocking. I called to schedule 4 in-car riving lesson for an adult (myself) and Michelle, who sounded very lovely on the phone, offered me 4 lessons within the time frame that I requested. I was happy to take that offer and she took my deposit and sent me a confirmation email as well. Before my first day of lesson, Michelle rang and confirmed once more the time the instructor would show up. Sadly, no one did show up. After 30mins waiting in the sun, I rang them and no one at that office knew what was going on. Finally, I got a call back from Michelle and she said she forgot to put me on the schedule (yeah, that was after I had confirmed with her twice). I was offered an extra lesson to replace that missed first day and I was OK with that. Michelle then told me the second lesson would definitely take place and she would call me the day before to double-confirm. Great! Sadly, she never did. When I lost my my patience and called their office, I was told that the instructor was in an accident and had to cancel the second lesson. Ok, that was unfortunate and when Michelle offered me yet another lesson to replace the missed one, I agreed. Nonetheless, Michelle promised the third and fourth lessons on the schedule would definitely happen. She then told me she would call me the following day to confirm. Sadly, she never did. When I rang the office for the third time, I was informed by Michelle that the extra lessons couldn't happen because 'no one offered her help' and the instructor I was supposed to be with might not come back at all. I have been trying to be a polite and understanding customer from the very beginning despite all gaffes. However, the last phone call really pushed me over the edge. It's unfortunate that an accident happened to the instructor but I was disgusted that I had to be the one to contact them and find out what was going on every single time. Good customer service would contact customers as soon as there is news which affects customers' appointments. Good customer service would not promise services before knowing for sure if someone would be available to provide that service. I am now waiting for Michelle to call me back 'as she promised once again' to confirm if there are going to be any lessons for me at all. I have no idea how good their instructors are but their customer service is definitely worth a zero or even negative had that been possible on this site. read more

This office appears massively disorganized and if you should need information or help over the phone good luck. My child lost their original class completion certificate which is required to obtain the temporary permit. When I called the listed number I got another office and after explaining what I needed was told I would need to call the specific office. When I got in touch there I was told I had to come in, pay $10 and order the certificate. Then they will call their main office and order the certificate which would be done "as soon as she has time". There is no ordering over the phone. You must come in and order. I was told they would call me when it came in. No one did. When I called after 3 weeks to check back there was a lot of "can you spell your name" over and over and finally, I was told I could come back in and pick it up. Forget about any mailing. They must be the only driving in school in town to have people put up with their lack of customer service. I can hardly wait to try to schedule the 14 hours of required driving instruction. When did driving instruction become so cumbersome? It's almost as bad as going to the post office to mail a package. read more
