I took my boots in to get conditioned, new heels and soles. The boots on the right are ostrich, custom-made, and over ten years old. The skin was starting to split on both boots on the outside by my little toe. They stitched them up, and you can barely see the stitching. I am very happy with how they turned out. The other boots are Chisos #2, and they also came out looking great. I have another pair of black crocodile skin boots that they are working on, and I can't wait to see the results. The person who made my boots has retired, and I am very happy to find a new place to take my boots to get repaired and taken care of.

The silver pin/clasp on the top is what was replaced

I took my leather purse there, a bit tongue in cheek because I didn't know whey to expect, and was truly impressed by the quality and speed of work. I had broken the clasp because... me and was tired of walking around with an open purse so I finally decided to give the Austin Shoe Hospital a try. It's right down the street from where I live and I figured they couldn't ruin the purse anymore that I had - I tried gluing the clasp together and that only held until the next time I tried to open it lol. Anyhoo, the guy behind the counter was courteous, service was only a few days and my purse is as good as new. To be transparent, it cost me $25 which is high but if you put it in the perspective of buying the clasp, paying the repair person for their time and skill and saving an item from the landfills because of a little clasp, I think it was totally worth it. I would go here again and definitely recommend them.

Took a month for them to put a big piece of shiny black leather, with glue seeping out the edges, instead of simply restitching torn seam

On a nightmare return flight with several canceled flights, the airlines tore a corner seam of my new Lipault lightweight nylon suitcase. I used to design and hand-stitched high-end handbags, so I knew the Lipault nylon fabric suitcase seam could be easily repaired from the inside seam of an easily accessed corner seam. When I dropped it off at the Burnet location, they said they would just glue a patch on it. This was a beautiful new and pricey French-made suitcase (purple nylon), so I told them I wanted it stitched, and showed them the seam in the fabric, where it came apart, and how it Acould be easily accessed from the interior. He said it would be $65 and done in 2 weeks, and not to call, they would text when it was ready. We heard nothing at 2 weeks. After 3 weeks, we needed the case, as we planned to travel. We called and gave them the ticket number to ask when it would be done. They claimed they could not find it. Then when we again called, they claimed it was "sent away" to be fixed, and they didn't know when it would be done. They gave no reasonable explanation of exactly where the bag was. After contacting them another time with no new information, we found and contacted the owner of the shops. Supposedly, he contacted them on our behalf, and when we again called, they miraculously knew where the suitcase was, and assured us it would be fixed by the end of the following weeks (they will have had it a month!). When, at 4 weeks, again we received no promised email or text by the end of the following week, we again emailed the owner, explaining that again, no word and no suitcase. And again, miraculously, we heard from the shop later in the day that the suitcase was ready to pick up. We went to get it late in the day (it is quite a distance from where we live), and a large dark-haired man gave us the case, but was very brusque, and downright rude when we expressed dismay that someone had sloppily first glued then stitched a shiny BLACK piece of leather to the corner of my purple nylon suitcase; and the glue ran out past the patch and still smelled (as though someone rushed to do a crappy job at the last minute). The large dark-haired man became very belligerent and said IF WE WANTED IT TO LOOK RIGHT WE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A NEW SUITCASE!! They then said we had asked, not stitched, that it be glued, and we said no, we had showed them how easy it was to just do a tiny sewn seam repair from the inside. They asked for the $70+ charge for this sloppy and ugly repair. We said it was awful, and considering they lost it for a month, it should have had a better repair. They said we could leave it there yet again, and they could send it to the owner! They were clearly irritated that we contacted the owner. We refused to leave it with them yet again, and paid over $70, then took the awful-looking suitcase home. They are incompetent, rude, sloppy with people's goods left in their care. They do awful work and overcharge for anything. We will never, ever go back there, and will recommend friends avoid them, as well.

Heel done but somehow a brand new pair of shoes barely worn and the sole is coming off.

Excellent service. It's so hard to find a good cobbler these days. We have used the BeeCave location for years!

Had a stuck zipper on some luggage that just wouldn't budge-- some fabric was stubbornly wedged in.

However, my brother commented on how weird it looked. So, I decided to take them to the shoe hospital because according to my brother they were in bad shape. According to the repairman, the shoe repair services would take a few days. In my mind, I had a target price of no more than $10. However, it turned out to be more. Since I will have symmetrical shoes, I think it will be worth it. Yesterday, I dropped the flip flops off for repair. The process was quick and easy. I got the flip flops back the today. The flip flops are twins again. Historically (over the last 20+ years), I have had my shoes repaired only at the Austin Shoe hospital as they do great work.

I picked up the suitcase without examining it closely and when I got home I realized the zipper pull was still missing. I took it back across town and the older man working this time told me that it wasn't part of the repair and that I would have to pay an additional $30 (on top of the $125 already paid) to have this tiny piece of hardware replaced. Worse, he didn't let me finish one sentence in the entire conversation. He interrupted me repeatedly, told me my experience was not what happened, and tried to mansplain to me that Tumi would not have repaired the suitcase (which they would have--we took it there first, but it would have taken longer). He was extremely rude, there was not one moment that he treated me with anything but disdain and disrespect, and I will never return to this location.
