I would give neg 10 stars if I could...the worst experience of my entire life. Ram R. Vasudevan's…read morepractice ran my insurance and reassured me they accept it. Several months, several tests, 2 MRI's, and 3 nerve stimulation tests later, VASUDEVAN insisted we do a further nerve test. His office, after ALL TESTS, tells me at the end of the day, they don't accept my insurance after all. Better yet, Vasudevan concludes it may be just stress.... Now... I have no problem paying my co-pay because my insurance was covering most of it and I know i still had a deductible to meet. I really needed that care, but it was a fucking joke. I'm still to this day in even more pain. His front desk lied straight to my face, they constantly have furious other patients as I've seen many time in the front office with my own eyes and ears. the front desk ignored my calls several weeks in a row as I was out of work during this fisco because I couldn't even turn my head left or right. No matter how many voicemails I left. I needed paperwork to state I was in his care to show my employer why l've been in care. This whole practice made it nothing but stressful to where I was crying everyday wondering when/if ever will they call me back? I needed this man's signature and shame on him and this whole practice so ignoring a patient in need. Now I hammer myself with lidocaine patches to numb the pain and l'm miserable every damn day. This whole practice is a joke. DO NOT even bother.

I was referred to Dr. V from my pain specialist and from the moment I met him, I felt at ease. He took the time to understand my story, my condition, and after ordering new MRI and X-ray images, he recommended a minimally-invasive TLIF procedure. My discs had severely degenerated over time and a fusion was necessary to decompress the spine and give space to the nerves. Leading up to surgery Dr. V walked me through the whole process and made sure I understood exactly what to expect. After the procedure was over, he was in constant communication and made sure I was recovering properly. I saw Dr. V again for the 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month check-ups and he again made sure I was informed and healing the right way. If you have back pain, you need to go see Dr. V. He will get to the root of the issue and only recommend surgery if it's absolutely necessary for relief. I wish I would have seen him years ago.

Dr. Vasudevan is a master healer in my book and I would strongly recommend him to anyone with spine…read moreinjuries or pain. I suffered from multiple disc herniation due to a collision with a semi truck in early 2018; and had been in pain for nearly 9 months leading up to the surgery. The pain would not go away even after months of physical therapy and chiropractor visits. I was hesitant to get the surgery at first as anyone would be, but after meeting Dr. V I gained confidence because he clearly demonstrates care for his patients. I was also amazed at how well Dr. V's set up was. I felt clearly advised and the process was very smooth; and the hospital setting of which he does his work is also amazing and the people are great. I was out of the hospital quickly and since have had great results during the healing process.

Unfortunately I had a really poor experience here, and I'd like to share so that future patients…read moreknow what they're getting themselves into. I wish that I could have had this information prior.. I was referred here regarding pain from an auto accident. I was aware of the hefty cost ($1000 for an initial consultation visit), but was willing to pay for this doctor's expertise and opinion in reviewing my injuries. I arrived early for my appointment, and was taken back to the room in a reasonable amount of time. After the nurse took my vitals, she informed me that Dr. V would be in to see me "in a few minutes." Well, the minutes ticked by with no sign of Dr. V. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the nurse came back in & said Dr. V would just be "a few more minutes." I wound up being back in the room for a full hour PAST my appointment time when Dr. V finally bothered to come in, at which point the wait time was not acknowledged. We reviewed my history briefly, and he said really to formulate his opinion, I would need to go back and get two more MRIs so that he could see the full spine (I had already gotten one MRI). That was pretty frustrating, because I had specifically called prior to my appointment to confirm with his staff that they had everything that they would need for Dr. V to provide an opinion. I offered to go back and get additional MRIs done if that was going to be needed, and even requested they check with the on-site nurse at the time, to see if they would be helpful. After holding, I was reassured that just the one MRI was enough and I should come into the appointment to see Dr. V. Okay, so now I've paid $1000 out of pocket, just for him to tell me to go get two more MRIs. Cool. So I went and got the MRIs, & went back for a follow-up visit (which is an additional $600). Again, I arrived right on time and was taken back reasonably. Again, the nurse did her job and left me to wait for Dr. V, who would be in in "just a few minutes." This time, I was waiting for over 40 minutes in the room before Dr. V came in. The thing about Dr. V ~ he does not have good bedside manner. He'll make small talk with you, but he's not looking at you nor listening, rather, pulling up your file, making notes, etc. In the first 5 minutes of my time with Dr. V, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket to check it three times. At the third occurrence, I asked him if I was interrupting anything, to which he replied no, that the hospital keeps calling him and he doesn't know why. Again, no acknowledgement of my wait time nor the lack of consideration in checking his phone when I was paying handsomely for his time. Well, he reviewed those MRIs and ultimately said that there's nothing he can do for me as far as treatment goes, and referred me to Pain Management. On my way out, I spoke with the office manager, and outlined my concerns. I was very gracious and understanding, but shared that I do not think my time was respected. I have a life - a job, a family - to plan around in order to make these appointments work. Not only was I not seen at the promised appointment time, but left in a room to wait for multiple hours over the course of just two visits. I courteously asked for a credit to my bill as consideration for MY time. I was given a lot of empathy, "I get what you're saying & I agree," and she offered to share the feedback with Dr. V and call me back. Of course, she did not call me back, so when I reached her back she again gave some apologies and acknowledgement, and said that she reviewed with Dr. V and they had decided that they were unable to credit my account balance. So, I cannot control what's on the MRI, but he has the audacity to charge me THOUSANDS of dollars for less than one hour of his time, yet refuses to acknowledge that MY time is worth anything at all. In summary, this establishment: * Does not value their patient's time * Supports a doctor who checks his phone while in the room w/ a patient * had a crappy blood pressure cuff that they literally asked me to hold in place so it wouldn't fall off Patients BEWARE

Dr. Kuhns looked at the X-rays from August and compared them to the ones in November and realized that there was something terribly wrong with the changes in the images. Almost immediately he scheduled major back surgery, going in from both the front and back in a six hour surgery. A bacterial infection was the cause of the rapid deterioration of two discs in my spine. I had several different doctors try to treat me with steroid shots, radiofrequency ablation, and a spinal stimulator. The pain just kept getting worse until I finally was referred to Dr. Kuhns for evaluation. The rest is history, as I can finally walk without major pain, and getting better by the day. I would recommend him and his very capable staff for any problem that you might have. Don't waste your time with anyone else. Gary K.

When you make an appointment with him you do not actually see him. You see one of his PAs. I expected to see him on my consultation visit to explain the surgery he was going to perform, not his PA. The day of the surgery he came by when I was in the waiting area before going into the OR, and he stopped by to introduce himself, and said we would be going into surgery in a few minutes, and then walked away with no explanation of what he would be doing. When I scheduled the follow up appointment I specifically told the receptionist I wanted to see the doctor. She informed me that I could not make the appointment to see the doctor, but that he would be in the clinic that day, and I could ask the PA to ask him to come into the exam room. What kind of doctor does this? I had the same surgery done over 20 years ago, on a different disc, with much better results. So, I guess I am also questioning his skills as a surgeon. My advice to anyone considering back surgery is to find another surgeon.

Dr STOKES WOULD NOT SEE ME IN HIS OFFICE. THERE WAS NO INTAKE, THERE WAS NO 'BEDSIDE MANNER'. THE WOMAN WHO CALLED ME BACK SPENT 10 MINUTES TELLING ME WHY HE DID NOT SEE ANY POINT IN MEETING WITH ME. I'VE BEEN ON 80MG OF Hydrocodone since 2000. In January, my primary care said he wanted to turn me over to a 'spine specialist'. First I saw a Dr. Church at Capitol Pain Institute, who was a dream. We were titrating down to 60mg... Dr Church was compassionate, caring and he LISTENED and researched my condition. After that, the OWNER of CPI, a dr Shockett said he fired Dr Church, slashed what Dr. Church has as my current medications by half, and did nothing whatever to HELP me. Did not recommend surgery, did not suggest therapy. HE TOLD ME HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW IF I WAS REALLY IN PAIN. I AM in pain, but I'm more concerned with continuing to live, and be able to WALK. What impressed us about Dr. Stokes and his staff: (1) He didn't rush to suggest surgery, he wants to gather more information (including more testing) and get a very complete picture before recommending a treatment plan. Some other surgeons just recommended fusion surgery without looking as deep. (2) He pulled up a 3D spine model on his large iPad and showed us the anatomy of all the parts and what's causing the pain. I can't overemphasize how helpful this was to our understanding. It's a far cry from a static illustration, or even a handheld model. (3) He spent a lot of time with us and we never felt rushed. (4) His P.A., Katie, similarly spent a lot of time with us, wanting to know everything about T's problems and health history in order to get a full picture. The only problem was that we'd returned some of the new patient paperwork by emailing back a PDF (that they haven't yet put on the web), to the LVN, and the LVN emailed back that he got it and entered it, but when we arrived at our appointment, staff insisted repeatedly that it wasn't in the system...until they eventually found it.

I came to her practice last summer, 5 years post surgery with yet another herniated L5-S1 disc (same one as before) at the ripe old age of 35. Not only did she diagnosis the current problem, but really dug into my lifestyle and worked to figure out the why as to what could have caused a re-herniation again so soon. Then she developed a thoughtful plan of what actions she would recommend taking to prevent it from happening again in the future. She uses a fabulous combination of eastern and western medicine, integrating Chinese herbs/medicine, acupuncture, meditation, diet and lifestyle. My back is healed up, I'm down 20 pounds, and I've learned what to look for in terms of stressors and diet/inflammation factors and what a lasting impact they can have on your body. Additionally, she is at the fore-front of cutting edge technology with her stem cell research. Most people (rightfully so) are terrified of surgery, especially when its on your spine/nerves. I never felt anything but trust and safety when I was in Marcella's care. Obviously, I hope I never have to have surgery again, but if I did, I'd find a way to fly to Austin for her to be my surgeon again and again.

Following this, it was nearly impossible to get a prescription filled by him to the point that in the last two months, my prescriptions were filled by other doctor's (despite significant efforts including calls, online messages in the portal, and online messages on the Victory Medical Klarna messenger ranging from 10 days up to day of). The staff was also deeply unhelpful, letting me know that in order to get my prescription refilled, I should use the online portal, but if I sent in my prescription request earlier than 5 business days, then it would be ignored. If I sent in later than 5 business days, it was also likely to be ignored. And when I did send it in 5 business days, it was still ignored. I have left several online messages, following up each day, in an attempt to just get a response, and in the past few months I have received none. And god forbid you have multiple prescriptions, because Dr. Pekar will maybe fill one prescription and completely ignore the others. They also look to charge your insurance as much as possible.
