Came in here on a whim to get my septum peirced. The service was quick and the peircer was very friendly. However, the septum peircing itself hurt very badly which goes against everything I read on septums. I didn't think much of it at the time but now that over two months have passed, my septum still isnt fully healed. This peircing normally has a very short recovery time and is known for being super painless. I recently went to my regular pericer to have it checked out. Turns out my cartilage was periced instead of my septum which explains the pain and super slow healing. Wanted to take the time to give some serious shout-outs to the shop as a friend and I came during their October Halloween specials this past weekend. We felt very comfortable during our individual session and I am super appreciative of the work and mindfulness of cleanliness by the artists and staff during our time. There is clear signage as you walk into the shop with clear rules as to why only the person who is getting work done will be able to enter. You must wear a mask and if you do not have one there are free masks right as you walk in. The staff made sure to let us know, as soon as we walked in, to sanitize our hands immediately at the automatic hand sanitizer station. What made me feel comfortable about coming to Austin Tattoo Company during this time was their communication and appointment setting schedule for the month of October. You are required to put down a deposit ($10 for the October special) when you book your appointment online and required to sign / acknowledge the procedures the shop has in place for safety. Even the follow up email/appointment reminders were helpful prior to showing up as there are a few things to note here - cash is preferred, their cancellation requirement is 48 hours, etc. Even on their Instagram the shop was super clear on what protocols are in place for everyone's safety. After taking our names, ID, outlines of the tattoos, and getting our consent for the tattoo(s) we were sent off to our artists section/area to begin our session. The artist was in the process of cleaning the table and areas we were to sit which was fantastic. It is probably best to keep your small talk to a minimum as it will keep everyone safe here when doing so. Even the amount of people in the shop is controlled by the staff. Overall very happy with our experience here during this time. I know I will definitely be coming back, regardless if there is a special, as this was the safest I have ever felt in a tattoo business/parlor. Thank you, Austin Tattoo Company! read more

Wow! Just got my ears pierced by Kali here with a friend and I can't wait to recommend this place to everyone. My earlobes were originally done by the infamous Claire's piercing gun and by my own fault, I wore heavy earrings that almost ripped through my earlobe. I knew once this healed I needed a professional to get it done in the right spot. Kali was extremely kind and patient, taking the time to explain the available jewelry options best for our needs. It's currently $25 for one piercing, and $40 for two including stainless steel jewelry with upgrades available to other metals. She took her time, even using calipers to make sure the earring was equidistant from my face. The entire process was quick and (almost) painless and I couldn't be happier how symmetric they are! The shop is very clean, and they strictly adhere to COVID protocols with masks and allowing only one person back at a time. Went to Mike for a shoulder tattoo. Not only was it overpriced, but he was really heavy handed and my skin had a bad reaction to it. It's been over a year since I got it done and you can still see some of the inflammation and this tattoo looks way more pronounced than any of my other ones. read more

At first I would recommend this studio since I've gotten a tattoo there before but my second attempt to get tattoos with a friend was a disaster and I lost $20. Just stopped in here as I wanted to get a tattoo at the last minute. I called right around 12 and asked if they had availability and the answer was, "Yea, come on in!" I quickly headed out the door! The location was really easy to get to, easy to find and easy to park. And there is a 7-Eleven within walking distance to get cash! I walked in and was greeted by the shop owner, Keith Underwood. I emailed the picture of what I wanted to him from my phone and he easily printed it out and let me know that my artist was on his way to the shop after making some nice small talk. My artist, Phil LaRocca, came in shortly after, went over the design and size and quickly created a stencil. I got quoted a price and we made sure the positioning was right, made it a little bigger and then we got started! I was really impressed at how quickly Phil got into work and actually got right to work. I felt like a priority instead of just an afterthought, which I've felt at some other shops before. The whole experience was really great, Phil and the guys there are SUPER friendly and we all had a great time just chatting the whole time. A couple other customers came in and it was nice to see them treated just as nicely as I was. Phil completed my tattoo exactly how I wanted it and I cannot wait to head back in there to see him again. read more

Almost ripped off. I told them I was getting one done for the first time. It was 14 letters on the right sleeve. The lady at the counter said it was a 60 bucks minimum and would take 15 mins. Then she said it would cost 100 bucks. A tattoo artist walked in and concurred with her. I left to decide and come later. Later, I called them and they said their hourly rate was 150. Which means the tattoo would have cost me only 60 bucks. That's what they said on the phone too. Not going there again. Hope they don't treat their other customers like this. read more

They connected me via phone with an individual at their location that walked me through exactly what he would be able to do with my ideal tattoo location. After much talking and planning, we decided to move forward. I set up an appointment for a week out. When I showed up, the guy was not even at the shop. So they told me that he had an opening the next day. When I showed up for the second time, he in the middle of a sleeve appointment. He then proceeds to tell me that he did not remember any appointment with me AND that he would not do a finger tattoo DESPITE already talking on the phone with me about it. Wasted my time! So far I have spent about 11 hours w/ him working on a a black and gray piece/sleeve on my lower leg. The theme is Alice in Wonderland flower from the Golden Afternoon. It will soon be complete when we cap it off on the lower part of my thigh. Here's what you need to know about Chris: 1) Here's a biggie : DO NOT gey tattoed by Chris UNLESS you are prepared to get RELENTLESS COMPLIMENTS on/about your tattoo almost EVERYWHERE you go !! 2) Very creative, creates his own flash which is sick. He made my not so orginal idea/piece original. You can check it out on instagram if you don't believe me follow him @ ccotner83 3) Did my piece in black and gray spot on when 2 other artists told me it wouldn't "do the piece justice" unless it was in color ...that's bs ...it looks great !! I wanted black and gray or I wasn't going to do it...period. Besides, what if the colors didn't go with my outfit ...lol. No but really color is just not my thing. I could care less if my outfit matches...let alone if my tat goes with it...haha 4) He's laid back and authentic, yet professional . He's is ethical and has morals. 5) Not full of himself or cocky but he is confident. 6) Takes his time with placement and doesn't just slap it on and go. Placement is very important and he knows this. 7) Answers all my questions in a timely fashion. This is not my first tattoo but based on the fact I ask a million questions you would think it was. Mainly, I am neurotic about aftercare of my tattoos. Also, I work in a environment that can be somewhat risky for my for tats so... I worry for my tats and want to baby them. Chris is always available by email or phone to answer my questions no matter how typical or off the wall they are... and he does so in a kind and calming way. This is much appreciated.
