Came to finish the other side of my tattoo since my initial artist would not be available to finish the job before I needed to fly home. - Right away I appreciated the initiative Burke (my artist) had when I entered their shop. He went out of his way to take on my unknowns and worked with me to make what I wanted happen within the constraints. The previous shop I had tried (that took walk-ins) gave some excuse to me why they wouldn't do it. It was 2pm. - The shop itself is one of the most tenured in Austin, and is decorated to reflect that. I think they said they'd been there at least 27 years which is crazy to me coming in to get this done on my 24th birthday, meaning they've been tattooing longer than I've been alive. - The process that they used to draw was considerably more painful than previous shops I've been to, but I'd prefer someone using tools they're comfortable and familiar with rather than inexperience. - Only complaint I have is only taking cash, I had thought of that but used most of the cash i had on the previous artist from the day before. (They have an ATM inside, but does not accept tap.) - Overall the final result was exactly what I wanted given the constraints of the limited remaining real estate space on my arm. I was very impressed by how Burke developed creative ways to get me what I wanted while still keeping the overall design fluid. Definitely shows the 25 yrs of experience. Even if there's slight imperfections, that's what makes tattoos unique to you. It's not supposed to be copy/paste, as long as you're happy with it and it represents what you want it to, it's a job well done. I would definitely recommend their shop! read more

DO NOT go to this place if you want a perfect tattoo. My tattoo came out asymmetrical and not fully outlined as seen in the picture. When I went back to the shop, tattoo artist Burke told me that all tattoos have an aspect of "human error" and that you can't expect any tattoo to be perfect. What says a lot about a business is their integrity. People who get pierced don't think enough about how a pierce shop will provide aftercare or respond to their mistakes. Those say a lot. Manager worked with me to create a solution plan. I can't reverse the damage to my nose, but speaking w/ her helped me move forward. The amount of effort True Blue put into righting their wrong hoop sizing speaks more than the actual mistake at this point. I came here a month ago to get my second lobes pierced and had a wonderful experience during/after the piercing. I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon and it was a quick and painless process - well, as painless as it can be for piercing! Sarah, my piercer, walked me through what she was doing each step of the way which made me feel included in the process. She was very kind, friendly, and informative! Unfortunately, about two weeks later, my ear swallowed my new piercing which I didn't know was even possible! I woke up, looked in the mirror, and the stud was no longer visible but I could feel it inside my ear. Obviously, I freaked out and called True Blue. They scheduled me for an emergency appointment that same day. I've forgotten the name of the woman who helped me that day (she was amazing and I wish I knew her name!) was empathetic to my situation and fixed the problem right away. She was gentle and helped keep me calm throughout the process. We ended up changing it to a larger stud. It has been a month since that incident and I'm happy to report that ears are almost fully healed and I haven't had a problem since! I will be back for any piercing/tattoo needs. Myself and 3 of my friends were walk ins on Friday afternoon. We got to the shop around 1pm and all requested small tattoos. I personally had Chris and I thought he was great. I got a little anxious because I had to wait so long and it's been awhile since I've gotten a tattoo and he made me feel really comfortable during the whole thing. My friend who had Jose also loved him. He was super friendly and made her feel really relaxed during the process. They have lots of flash sheets to choose from and are also totally cool with you emailing a photo or idea so they can draw something up for you. The artists warned me multiple times that it was going to be incredibly painful, but it was a tattoo I've wanted for years. Walk in snake bite on a Saturday night. Joe was finishing up a piercing when I got there. They have the forms you need to fill out all online, so you can get started while you wait. When he became available, Joe was very attentive and helpful both in picking out new tunnels for my ears and getting all ready to have my lip stuck. I get very nervous when doing peircings (I won't yell or grab the piercer, but I get all worked up and light headed). Joe was so understanding, walked me through every step as calm and helpful as if it where my first peircing. After both bits of jewelry were in, Joe noticed I was not feeling great and talked me through breathing, relaxing, and getting some water and sugar in me so I would be ok. My friend and I came there for tattoos and piercings. My friend got a cartilage piercing on her left ear. Jason was very helpful and very patient. He thoroughly went through the Piercing process and the caretaking process. My friend asked like 1 million questions and he answered every single one without getting mad and was extremely knowledgeable. I received a tattoo from Scott. I showed him a picture of what I wanted. He explained to me that it was hard to do it exact to the picture due to how small I wanted it but offered to redraw it.
