If you're in a rush for something important, it's best not to try and slip in here first; even if…read morethe place is free of other customers. I've never been to a post office where it has taken so long to get a simple money order. After 15 minutes of standing at the counter watching the franchisee tapping away at her computer processing my request; I politely asked how much longer it was going to take, (holding my 10kg baby was getting a tad painful by that stage). For my impatience I then received an equally polite lecture on the intricacies and difficulty of putting a money order through the system. Sure, the franchisee is nice enough and she probably is trying her best, but I don't have the time, (nor the energy to hold my beautiful bundle) to wait 20 minutes for a money order - particularly when I was the only customer! Maybe my patience is all being used on my children, but I'd prefer to drive the extra five minutes to the Glenroy Post Office. You might have to wait in a queue for five minutes but even with the drive time added to the wait time, you'll still be ten minutes up and not seething by the time you're creasing up that money order.

They do get quite busy, I think it's because those from Broady and Oak Park know it will be less stressful to drive the extra couple of kms to Glenroy. Morning before lunch, and mid afternoon (long enough after lunch but before the masses exit work for the day) are the best times to go to avoid the crowds. But even when it is busy the staff are so capable you're wait in the queue is likely to be minimal.

I hate that my parcels are directed here if I happen not to be home to accept a delivery. It means I have to pick it up from this post office which in most cases takes around 20-30 mins. Avoid at all costs in my opinion.

There's a fairly wide selection of magazines and your more general comics, along with your usual newspapers. It also sells metcards. At the newsagency end of the shop there is a slight charge for eftpos, but not at the post office end. It's among the quieter of post offices, so there's usually not much of a line and the staff are very efficient. There aren't as many gift-y types items on the shelves as there are at some other post offices, but it's got the basics of stationary covered.

Not ordered stacks, but rambling mounds. I'm sure the health and safety inspectors would have a field day. Despite this, they've not yet misplaced or lost any of the packages I've sent or received. Something about their system just works. And the staff are extremely helpful. I came in on a Saturday to check for a parcel I was desperately waiting for, and although it was yet to arrive the older chap who works behind the counter offered to let me come in before opening on the Monday morning to check again. That's pretty good customer service in my book. They've got all your standard AusPost goods, plus extended services like passport interviews, so I say skip the shiny clean post office on Lygon and head to this one instead.
