The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a very nice breakfast buffet. It's a big buffet with lots of delicious choices, so be prepared to put on a couple of pounds. It starts to get crowded at 8:30am so if you are looking for a quiet breakfast try for 7:00 am for best results. There is a fitness club on the 7th floor. It is clean, has a decent variety of machines and a spa with a sauna and treatment rooms. They have a recumbent bike. Also enjoy the outdoor balcony for a relaxing place to enjoy a view of Vienna. The rooms are spacious and the staff are super friendly. The gym is pretty small and basic. During my stay it they were renovating some floors so I'm sure it'll look even more amazing for the next visit. The rooms actually remind me a lot like a Las Vegas hotel room. Therefore, you would expect that when there is a convention in town, the hotel would be prepared to accommodate it. You would be wrong. The restaurants and bar were consistently understaffed. One night, I waited a total of two hours for a cheeseburger and a beer. Seriously, it took an hour an 15 minutes to get the beer! 2. The hotel is not flexible with reservation changes, even when given advance notice. When we checked in, we noted that our check-out date was incorrect; we would be checking out a day early. This was three days in advance of our check-out, but the hotel still made us pay for the extra night. Other colleagues I was traveling with had similar errors in their reservation that the hotel would not accommodate. 3. The buffet breakfast was overcrowded, under supplied, and it was regularly difficult to get a simple cup of coffee. 4. The hotel earns its star for its concierge. Every interaction with the concierge was positive. Every interaction with every other staff person was disappointing, frustrating, and/or disrespectful. It was as if they did not even car. If you're going to Vienna for a conference at the International Center, do yourself a favor. Stay downtown, learn how to use the subway system (which is very easy to use and quite reliable), and enjoy your stay. Like the bed took up most of the room and only one person could walk past the end of the bed at once - but then there was more room past the bed. No big deal. There did seem to be plenty of room to put our stuff around. We had two giant suitcases that fit underneath a counter just fine. The view was amazing. In Vienna it was warm. We were warm. We were always - warm. WARM! Outside it was HOT. Everything about Vienna and the beverages were warm to us. The room while not WARM was not cool. The windows would not open. So we struggled to cool off back at the room. I do not blame the hotel. I am from Ohio, USA. It is very seldom hot here and we always have a breeze and don't even regularly see sunshine. The bartender with a awesome beard is very friendly, helpful and makes some great drinks. Two of my favorite things about the room was their rain shower head and their cool bendable pillows. I picked this location because I was departing from the Westbahnhof train station the following morning and I wanted to only be a short walk away. Plus, I got a killer deal via hipmunk dot com. Location: It's not in the city center but it's a 5 minute walk to the Westbahnhof station (see map). 5 stops on the U3 (underground) to Stephansplatz which is the main touristy area with the unfinished church. 5 stops on the U6/U4 to Kettenbrückengasse which is where you'll find the Naschmarkt which is A MUST. It's a spectacular open air market full of killer food/treats! 7 stops to catch the CAT which takes you to the Vienna International Airport Food: There's a bar downstairs that stops serving food after a certain hour but you can always order room service. Also! There are food stands directly across the street (and to your right) that never close, that's right twenty fo' seven! They're not phenomenal but they do the trick if the bars/restaurants nearby have already closed. Room: Clean, spacious, large tub. The only thing strange about this room is that their beds are two twin beds pushed together. It reminded me of something from the set of I Love Lucy but the beds were comfortable and the curtains did a good job of keeping the light out in the morning so I can't complain. Amenities: If you plan on going to the spa (which I definitely did!), you can call the front desk and they'll bring you a robe. The spa is on a specific floor and you need to use your keycard to unlock the door (it took me way too long to figure that out). The spa has a large jacuzzi, sauna, work out area, a massage therapist you can book, and some weird vibrating machine that you can sit on.. When I locked my key in the room, they gave me another one without showing identification. I stay in about 25 hotels per year. This was the worst room I have had in several years.
