First off, I proudly disclose that I was a founder and am a board member of the Autism Academy of Learning. My son just graduated from the school after 11 wonderful years. It's a world of difference from attending most of the Toledo area traditional public schools, as the school and its services are designed around the individual needs of the students. The school's philosophies and policies put the students first, maintain their dignity, treat them with compassion and respect and provide the services needed to help each child reach his/her potential. Most classrooms have six students to four staff. We offer speech and OT, a Snoezelen Multisensory Room, two gross motor sensory rooms, gymnasium, computer lab with smartboard, life skills room and vocational programming both onsite and in the community at places such as Goodwill Industries and the Holiday Inn French Quarter. In response to the review by a former employee, the overwhelming majority of the school's students have a diagnosis of autism. However, as a public school, the AAL cannot deny admission to students who do not have the diagnosis. The programming and services are specifically designed for those with autism. i love this school and what it is about the students are exceptional i made new friends and learned many new learning strategies! i taught at this school for many years my experiences were excellent we had fun whi,e we learned . i gain much trust fromthe students and learned many educational things. the students have many opportunities to learn and i was a job coach as well i went with students tothe holiday inn and french quarters, i went to the goodwill and many trips to other job facilities i loved working with our kids and seeingthem learn gave me happiness inside. the kids enjoyed working and going out working. i have reffered several kids to this school. i love the board members and founders they are great people and parents as well. keep up the good work and educating the students. read more
