Philadelphia Insurance had processed our zero deductible claim with Safelite and a glitch on SafeLite's end showed a balance due at the time of my appointment. Apathy on the woman's part made it quite easy to leave and go to Glass America for service.

I went to so many places who did a quick look, gave me an estimate with the caveat that it could be more. One place said they would order me a new bumper (not needed, my bumper was 100% not in need of replacement, no dents, no scratches, nothing.) I went ALL over WNY. I then stopped at this place, they said, we can fix it in an hour, charged me the most reasonable price (Much less than the $900 one place was going to charge me to replace the bumper!!) and the people there are funny (a great skill and characteristic in my book) and were no nonsense. Our insurance company has repeatedly directed us to CarStar, meaning that they have had many good experiences also. Recent work on my spouse's Honda CRV was just excellent. CarStar's set up with Enterprise for rentals is excellent. Their communications wrt estimates and progress and completion of repairs are first class. BTW - We needed a review today of a strange small dent pattern nearby the recent repairs, was it there before the recent nearby repair or was it a new event? The CarStar records were just great, it was already there and not part of the recent repair claim. Within minutes we had a quote to deal with this old forgotten, minor event. Outstanding service, zero hassle, and professional follow-through…read more Wow. So, I go through windshields like kleenex. I've had 7 replaced over the last 10 years. GEICO, my insurance company, always sends me to their "preferred" partner (who I won't name here, but they're neither Safe nor Lite.) After years of frustrating service with "the other guys," I figured I would take a leap and try Glass America. What an incredible difference! The folks that answer the phone are super easy going and flexible. They took some information from me, scheduled an appointment, and boom, done. The morning of, I took my car in (they would have come right to my house, but it was pouring out), and boom, less than an hour later, the windshield is in. BUT... here's the important part. Glass America uses OEM and high quality equipment. The windshield they just put in was the exact same one that was in my car originally. The other place uses cheap replacement glass with different specs. Paul installed my windshield and was super friendly, professional, and fast. I can't say enough good things about this completely unassuming place or the service I received! If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Hands down, this was the easiest replacement I've ever had done.

Welp, I had an oopsie. I was parked at a business in a very tight spot. It was the last free spot,…read morebetween another car, a brick wall, a telephone pole, backing out directly into traffic. I had a bad feeling about it right away. And in the end, I was right--the telephone pole got me. :-( I grazed it while backing out, enough to do a noticeable ding. Nobody was hurt. I didn't damage any property of anyone else. Except for the bit of telephone pole lodged into my driver-side door. I shopped around online for a collision shop not far from home with decent reviews, and landed on Schmidt's. I liked how the majority of their reviews on Yelp and Google mentioned that they handle pretty much all of the insurance back-and-forth, plus do great work. I called them, and they could see my car right away, so off we went. After meeting with Schmidt's, we decided to leave my car there right then for them to do the work. The shop was clean. Everyone was very friendly. (One hrrrmmmppphhh, nobody was wearing a mask, but I was, and they stayed their distance.) I called my insurance agency to connect them with Schmidt's, and for the most part they communicated with each other, without me having to do much at all. It took about four or five days for the insurance to finalize the approvals, and another four days or so for Schmidt's to do the work. The nature of the work is a lot of applying, then drying, then doing that again, so I knew it would take a while. But when I picked up my car, the work was impeccable! No signs that my driver-side door was ever up-close-and-personal with a telephone pole. The paint was all blended just right to match the rest of the driver-side of the car, and my pinstripe was reapplied nicely, too. I have had horrendous luck with most automobile shops, still not having a good, reliable, trustworthy go-to mechanic. But when it comes to collision, if I ever need work like this again (and I sure hope I don't!), Schmidt's is definitely my go-to collision shop.
