We have been a long time customer of Firestone, but no more. My wife's 2008 Kia Sorrento was looked…read moreat for repair for an overheated engine. We brought it to this location since it was only a block from where the event occurred. Firestone did an evaluation of the car and in so doing told us that it would take @$4,000. To fix it. We told them not to repair the car. They had dismantled the car , which made it no longer viable to start. They charged us $469. We told them we were having it towed to another repair shop and then the other repair shop could not put the car back together because specific bolts and components were not present when they received the car. So now the car is not repairable and potentially only goods for sale for parts. We knew that the car might not be affordable for us to repair, but we were able to drive the car the short distance to this particular Firestone.. Firestone ruined the potential salvage price by going ahead and dismantling the car and not putting it back together, or at least returning the necessary components to do so. The car was old but with the original driver. I think an inexperienced team evaluated th car and looked on it as junk or wanted to sabotage the opportunity to give a better estimate for repair. Seems like most of the local shops charge as much as the dealers! Some old friends had moved to Tallahassee and recommended this shop to us so I had my son take his sister's car then because it needed the valve cover gaskets changed and he was unable to do it. A Plus Dealer Alternative was able to get it done faster and at a better price than several other shops and did a great job! They even fixed another minor problem they found while working it with no additional charge. I was very happy not to have to pay expensive dealer prices for relatively routine work. I highly recommend Auto Xperts at the Monroe St. location. We had used them in the past for…read moremaintenance issues with good fast results, so we took our older car in for a miss that it had and they found and corrected the wiring issue quickly. They also did a thorough job on inspection, informing us of anything that looked like it might need in the future which we appreciated. As not so good luck would have it that same day that very future thing happened. We rolled down the power window and it wouldn't go back up and alas this was after hours on a Friday. We have a protection plan on the car but it didn't warrant using it the first visit because of the deductible would zero it out. So we go back on Monday. However, this was a new problem and would unfortunately be a new deductible and the protection plan we had wasn't wanting to cover the visual inspection that was done. Long story short Jason heroically stepped up to help us and called the place on our behalf and let's just say it definitely helped out!!! When I informed them of the issue, they gave me a quote on the spot and when they called, it was only to tell me that my vehicle was ready and the cost was the exact amount they quoted. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant and the young man, perhaps one of the mechanics, who took my payment was nice as well. I was treated like I mattered. The only drawback, if you can even call it that, is that their weekday hours of operation are 10:00 to 5:00 and they are closed on Saturdays. So, may not use them again due to their business hours, which don't always line up with those of us who work full time/8:00 to 5:00 jobs.
