MTD Shelby Operations - axle covers with ribs on the inside, affecting the fit to my 2010 Troy-Bilt mower.

MTD SKU# 037049918348 Grasscatcher Assy…read more I have spent most of all day trying to install the subject grasscatcher on my Troy Built lawn mower TB280ES, 21" self propel mower. I got the catcher assembled, read your installations on how to attach the catcher to my mower, and after 3 hours I gave up and I guess, unless you can help, I will return the item back to Lowes this weekend. I really like the product design, but iot is no use to me if i can not attach the item to my mower. Daniel Wilson dardan7182@gmail.com

I have a troy-bilt walk behind self propelled mower I bought from HD back in 2010. Love it…read more However, one of the teeth on the front cover, for height adjustment cracked and broke off. So, I ordered a new front cover from SBD/MTD website. $30. Arrived in less than a week. So far, so good. Yesterday, I disassembled the existing front cover and ATTEMPTED to install the new cover. Only problem is - the new cover has ribs on the inside of the half-circle on either side that is to fit snugly over the axel on either side. After multiple attempts and a little swearing, I gave up. Put the old one one, and used a zip tie to hold the height adjustment where it needs to be so I don't scalp my grass too low. I called the number on their website, got to talk to a nice guy in South Africa who had no info to share on the subject. Dead end. I looked up the main office in Shelby, OH, spoke with a very nice woman there who was told by someone there to call the Corporate office. Dead end again. Three tries to the corporate office, constant busy (I think I can guess why by this point!). Dead end. I then called a local authorized dealer who shared my opinion that the part does not/will not fit as is, and the only option to take my dremel and remove the ribs from the inside of each half circle. Its disappointing to try to reach out to a business to get some assistance and have nothing to show for the effort. If the part will still not fit after my dremel work, sadly I will have to buy a new mower - and it will NOT be a MTD/SBD product. Now if someone from SBD-MTD would be kind enough to reach out to me - you have my PO # L0843880P1, I would appreciate it - but I am not holding my breath.

Purchased a Husqvarna zero turn there a couple years ago. I sent it in for service and told the guy…read moreI spoke with it needed a deck belt. He quoted me $50 for the belt and 1/4 hour to install it. Later I get a call from the mechanic saying that was incorrect and both the belt and labor was more than I was quoted. Lastly he said it needed new blades and that one of them was bent. When I went in to pick up the mower I told him I wanted to see the blades. Neither he nor I could see any bent blade and at that point it was obvious they were just interested in selling me new blades instead of sharpening the old ones. Needless to say I will find somewhere more reputable to take my mower in the future.

He called the dealership & verified which aftermarket parts they use, they answered with Napa. So he then called Napa (in Marengo). The guy quoted us $440 for all parts needed, but they weren't in stock. It would only take a day to get them, but we called the Sunbury location anyways. The associate was super helpful & quoted us $330 for everything! He said the items we needed weren't in stock but were on a truck & would be there by 1:00. We arrived at 2:00 to pick everything up & the associate had everything in a box waiting for us, including everything my husband would need to do an oil change on his truck. He was in & out in a few minutes & the associate even helped carry the parts to the car. Great prices & awesome service, we found our new go-to parts store!
