I had a great experience with Alex at Value Auto Repair. I originally reached out through Yelp, and he was responsive and answered all of my questions. His pricing was significantly better than what the dealership quoted me, but what really stood out wasn't just the price--it was his honesty. I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to see him, several appeared to be repeat customers, and there was an obvious level of trust between them. After my own experience, I completely understand why. Alex also has a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Most importantly, the humming noise is completely gone, and my car drives perfectly again. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable mechanic who charges fair prices and genuinely cares about his customers, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alex and Value Auto Repair. I know I'll definitely be back.

I was in a car accident two months ago. This shop came recommended by someone I thought I could…read moretrust. Louie seems very professional and provides great customer service. He also works on classic cars, so my hopes are high in him doing a good job. However it's been a month since he's had my car and I'm starting to get nervous since the crash did not require mechanical labor. It was a cosmetic job. I will update my review when I get my car back. Update#1: Two weeks after I posted my first review Louie confirmed my car was ready for pick up. Immediately, you can tell that no frame work was done on the car despite having had a front end accident which usually expands the frame. There were huge gaps between the bumper, hood, and fenders. I told him I would not be taking the car and expected him to fix the frame. The purpose of having insurance is so that any frame damage is repaired. I also received a $6000+ invoice from the insurance with an itemized list of all the the work Louie did NOT do! He claimed to have completely replaced the hood, the headlights, the radiator, and all sorts of things that he did not do. This was so disappointing and discouraging. He made an already stressful situation worse but since he agreed to fix the frame I was going to give him another chance. Update #2: Two weeks after the above incident my car was ready for pick up again. I could see that there were attempts to fix the frame because the gaps between the hood, bumper, and fenders were not as large as before but still noticeable in some areas, like the left headlight still had a gap between the bumper and the headlight. Tired of this shops carelessness, I was scared that if I left it longer, they would screw me over more, so I just took my car. Update#3: I've had my car for a month now and I noticed the bumper wasn't sticking well to the car. Not falling off but not secure and snug, so I took it to an autobody shop to get it looked at and they showed me all the places my bumper had glue! And explained to me that the person who installed it didn't even screw it on right. They want me to replace the entire bumper, again! I'm going to get another opinion elsewhere but Louies really screwed my once beautiful car. I hope all the money he claimed on my insurance was worth it. Lesson learned, though! Louies was an out of network body shop and I will never do that to myself again.

Learn how to upsell…read more Look - I'm standing up for the consumer. The price of gas has doubled. It's logical that people may try to fill their tank paying with a $100 bill. My tank is 13 gallons. This place was charging $6.26 for the lowest level octane. $6.29 (my tank was about empty) X 13 gallon tank = $81.77 At that price - "no change for $100, or can't break that" goes out the window. Just suggest that I spend the entire hundred. I even asked to buy a Red Bull. If you don't have that much change - fine. Just upsell, use your mouth, and say, "Buy such and such to round it out." That's it! I was not going to do the gas station attendant's job. If this individual is so gone that they can't upsell and (dare I say it) be a gas station attendant - maybe they should be working at Legoland California. Be a gas station attendant. Actually care about your job. I can tell that the people working here keep their jobs out of nepotism. Taco Bell will suggest that you just spend the whole bill, a gas station charging an arm and a leg for gas won't upsell and the gas station attendant is too lazy to suggest that you round out the bill - hilarious. - Had to make an edit, because I am disgusted by the bad service. I couldn't use my debit card, it was an emergency so I went here. Instead of a transaction taking place, I could have just spent the whole $100, the gas station attendant acted like the only thing they could do was let me down completely and have me drive off with an empty tank!

Higher viscosity leads to higher pressures which lead to seals leaking and failing. I'm really surprised you haven't researched this. How about the leaking oil filter a day after install? How about the scratches from resting my tires on the paint of my car? Lazy and inconsiderate. Pulled from the article that copied and pasted "Engine Design Changes: Newer Toyota engines are designed with tighter tolerances and specific lubrication needs that necessitate these thinner oils, such as OW-16 or OW-8." I thought I got screwed buying a used car from an older guy who seemed legit. I paid $2,300 in…read morecash, got a clean title, and was told all it needed was a CV axle. I figured I could handle that since I was tight on cash, and the repair wouldn't go over $500. After a quick test drive around the block--where I did hear some clicking, but it didn't sound too bad--I decided to buy it. On my 20-mile drive home, that clicking sound started raising doubts. It didn't seem like just a CV axle issue anymore, though I couldn't quite figure out what it was. The engine and transmission were running great, so I thought it had to be something simple, right? I took it to a highly-rated local shop, and they diagnosed the problem as the front differential or transmission (it's an AWD vehicle). Unfortunately, they said they don't work on transmissions. Well, FML. Next, I took it to a well-recommended transmission shop. After a few days, they confirmed the same issue and gave me a rough estimate of $1,900 to $2,500 for a used replacement. No rebuilt or new parts were available. FMLx2. I then brought it to my go-to guy, who's great at swapping parts and doing some diagnostics. He said he could handle the repair for $1,200, including sourcing a used part. But after two weeks of searching, he had no luck. FMLx3. At this point, I did my own research and decided if I could stay under $2,500, the repair would be worth it based on the car's value. I posted a project on Yelp to solicit bids from local shops. That's when Memo from AAMCO reached out. I was hesitant at first, but AAMCO has been around forever, and Memo seemed legit. I figured they'd either be the most expensive or the most reasonable since they specialize in transmissions. I checked reviews on Google and Yelp, and they looked good, so I decided to give Memo a shot. I dropped by to talk to him, and he was great--super communicative and really listened to my situation. I left the car with him, and the next day, I got a call. Of course, the repair exceeded my $2,500 budget. Same diagnosis: front differential/transmission replacement with a used unit. The estimate was $2,800, but they'd thoroughly inspect the replacement to ensure it was good. So close, but still over budget. I told him I'd call back. I was ready to schedule the car for auction and cut my losses, but something in my gut told me the car was worth saving. I called Memo back and asked if he could do it for $2,700. After some discussion, he agreed to work with me. Two days later, the car was ready. Memo had a surprise for me--the replacement transmission came with a new mount, and they managed to bring the total cost just under $2,600, nearly at my budget. THAT is honesty and integrity. I've been driving the car, and it feels exactly how a 20-year-old car in great shape should. No more clicking noises, and it's running beautifully. Since AAMCO handles other types of repairs, Memo and his team have officially become my go-to shop. I highly recommend seeing Memo at AAMCO if you need reliable, trustworthy service.
