He insisted to heat them up. tried heating the croissant first, cremated it...set off the fire alarm, had to open doors and windows to ventilate the smoke in november when paris was freezing. Then couldn't heat up the apple tart so it was stone cold. and didn't have any more croissants IN PARIS?? When making the coffees, didn't heat up or froth the milk so instead he just poured cold milk into two coffees in 2 quantities and made them stone cold. This is a tiny little place across the way from Notre Dame. It is so close, they likely felt the heat from the flames as it burned. We went out of our wat to eat at local places rather than tourist places this trip. This is clearly a local favorite as we were the only "tourists" in the room. And having said that, the people running the place treated us like family. We had a lovely conversation over coffee and Quiche. At one point this well dresses older local came in and was really emphatically chatting with the man and woman running the place. It was a prolonged conversation. He was animated and in a good way, clearly conveying a story of some sort with people with whom he had a relationship. When he left the lady said he was a local and a famous writer. The lady running the front of the restaurant was amazingly gracious. She even coached me on my incredibly poor French language skills with her really excellent English skills. This is a warm, inviting albeit it tiny location that is worth the trip. The food was great. The location was great. The people watching was great. The staff was amazing. What a truly lovely place. Very good for taking away a brunch or lunch staffed by a single family with multiple generations. Art and photography is also for sale, while adding to the intensity of the interior as well. Very good gluten free and wheat free options, as the owner himself is gluten free. Lots of fun for a quick bite, and its undiscovered status makes it a favorite breakfast spot for this trip. This was the first place we ate in Paris and we will probably return several times during our trip! The owners are very friendly and welcoming and spoke (from what we heard) English and Spanish, in addition to French of course. They are artists and have their art and photos displayed on the walls. The food was DELICIOUS!! We had organic scrambled eggs with a side salad and the Da Vinci tartine with two cups of tea. Aux Arts Etc is a great breakfast spot! They open early (not a lot of places around here are) and serve food other than the typical French breakfast of ham cheese and bread. I needed real breakfast food! The eggs Benedict here was SO good. Got the one with bacon. It was incredible. The sauces were perfect and the flavor combination, sweet and savory, SO delicious!! Service was great. Food was great. Ambiance perfect. Patrons friendly. The fresh made deserts looked so enticing, sadly I was too full to try them. I ordered grapefruit juice, they actually squeezed me grapefruits!! It was so delicious! I will defiantly be back to eat here next time I'm in Paris. Great location, close to Notre Dame. How did this place get so many good reviews? The food is over priced. I asked for water and was brought and charged for the mineral water. Another table next to us was brought the tap water in the carafe and some bread. They spoke French we did not. I would have given this place 5 stars as the location is good but that's what you are paying for is location. Rule of thumb, don't go to places next to heavily traffic tourist attractions. read more

It's located directly in front of Norte Dame, you can see if directly from the window seat. Amazing ambiance and very Artistic. I preferred this option, even if slightly more expensive than the Subway just a few shops up. Came with free wifi (yay!) and an excellent view of Notre Dame cathedral. It's a small floor and your chair is likely to hit the chair of the person sitting behind you so very close quarters with other diners / tables, but the high ceilings make it feel spacious and the owner has put tables very strategically. Very quick and pleasant service and even though it feels Parisian with all the quirky art on the walls, majority of accents were of tourists (heard kiwi and American). Wasn't fantastic, wasn't terrible. Popped in there on a Saturday morning for lunch. Based on previous reviews, I was expecting something cheaper and better than what it was. I paid around 9 euro for an espresso and literally half a baguette with jam. Maybe I'm being cheap, I don't know -- I'm just saying, it wasn't mind-blowing for what it was. The other reviews were right about it being a cool space but a tight fit. It's very clean. Toilets were easily accessible and well-kept. Just don't go there if you're looking for personal space. I can't speak to the quality of the other food, I may have missed the whole point of this joint. But what I ordered wasn't worth it. read more

Yelp/ my Wife guide my gastronomic adventures abroad and so they did the morning we found Aux Arts Etc. I wasn't exaggerating when breakfast ended and I told my waitress I had just eaten my best meal EVER, dinner, lunch, breakfast, EVER! Venue: Everything in Paris is elevated in charm. Aux Arts is a tiny cafe where you sit across from the chef as he prepares your meal behind a bar. Beatriz Ronzero doubles as hostess, server, and in-house visual artist- her still life's of the city adorn the walls. Virtually all-window seating faces a row of trees framing your view of The Seine and Notre Dame across the street. The coffee was an eye-opener and my ju l'orange fresh-squeezed by a machine. The chalkboard listed three specials and I chose "the Michelangelo" a Riff on eggs Benedict (pictured) I am not a critic, a cook, or even a foodie. I do watch Food Channel and pay attention to the terms celebrity chefs use to describe great cooking, or the things missing in those who get eliminated, chopped, sent packing. But I digest. Why was Aux Art's "Michelangelo" genius? Visually beautiful. The two-year-old in a cane stroller next to me stared it down and then had a bad toddler day. I would have cried too if the GUY NEXT TO ME got that and I DIDN'T. The drizzle on the plate was so much more than visually appealing. My egg yolk mixed into it to form a sauce that had everything in it-sweet, salt, savory, umami, ...whatever else hits all edges of your tongue with "oh, wow!" The greens hovering over my dish seemed odd on Eggs Benedict until I ate them: We had spent the week in France eating cheese on baguettes, cheese alone, baguettes alone, not to mention cheese in crepes. I was about to fondue myself in. Between the crunch of the basement muffin and topping sprouts sandwiching the gooey middle, I simultaneously got a wonderfully contrasting texture for my mouth, as well as a surprising fresh element that satisfied my inner vegan. I did not eat the flower, and in deference to the youngster watching my every move, I DID NOT lick the plate, but did scour remaining sauce with the accompanying baguette. Loved this place. We went here one morning for breakfast while we were in Paris and we were delighted. First off just the presentation of the food was beautiful. Secondly the food tasted as good as it looked and it even had edible flowers which was pretty cool. The owners were super nice and friendly. They spoke English and Spanish. The menu is somewhat limited but it's seems they just specialize well at what they do. The prices were pretty comparable to most of the places we went to. This place is absolutely amazing! Small and cozy so it gives a very comfortable family feel when you walk in. The owners are artists (one a photographer and the other a painter) and originally opened this spot as an art gallery. They both happen to love the art of food - and believe me, they have it down - so they added it to their repertoire! The eggs benedict are a must. They even made a special dish for my daughter. We were actually early but the co-owner let us come in and sit while he finished prepping. We had a variety of coffees and teas, all incredible. Then we were recommended their egg Benedict options which we tried and all enjoyed. The portions were so generous my mom couldn't finish hers! I had the Quiche Lorraine and it was the best I ever had! The owners (a married couple) were chatty and gave us some great insight into life in France. The location is also amazing.
