Credit unions are supposed to have better customer service than banks. That's the appeal, right? That's the selling point. I've never been able to get anyone on the phone at this location so I have to drive 10+ minutes to get there to ask any question about my account. The drive through is NEVER open. When I deposited a large check recently I was told that it was a 7 day hold (and the pending transaction showed 7 days) but then it took 13. When I complained online and the manager called me, he only wanted to argue with me about why 13 days was right (despite the contrary expectations that Avadian created through its communications), interrupt me, and talk over me. Seriously, who does that? I'm still on the fence about whether I'll stay with Avadian but I'll likely avoid this branch in the future. read more

Do not get an auto loan from them! They will not tell me my payoff amount for my auto loan because I have not been into a branch. The nearest branch to me is a couple hours away! Why should I have to drive that far just to get my loan information? They act like I'm some random guy trying to payoff someone's auto loan. Believe me, I don't have that kind of money. Why would anyone try to payoff someone else's loan? And if someone wanted to payoff my loan for me, please let them! I answered all of their security questions and they sent me a verification pin eia email. What's the verification pin for if it doesn't verify anything? Confiscated my credit card and will not give me access to online banking which is inconvenient to come in during normal business hours, including Saturday. I had a case of fraud and they locked me down and I had no money for months--And while I was trying to buy a house. This occurred in April and as of Almost November now it is not all resolved. Very difficult to deal with. No attendants working drive thru. Now there is a computer there and they will make you chat with a person over the internet. It's absurd. If you get a loan here, they do not send you a paper bill. So now you have to physically go to the location and go inside to make a payment. Will never do business here again, unfortunately. I love this CU! They are not my actual CU but since they participate in the credit union co-op program, I'm able to go there for transactions! Since they are so close to my job, I come here all too often. This location is also open on Saturdays, unlike my CU. This is VERY CONVENIENT! Avadian used to be great---a Mayberry-esque credit union where the employees were happy to see you. Over the past 7 years, and particularly during Covid, the culture drastically changed. The employees became snippy and even adversarial. I sat in line for the drive-through window on a Saturday for 35 minutes and the minute I reached the window they simply closed it. I tried going to the door to explain, but they refused to answer. They stopped taking phone calls at the branch--even when you needed to speak to a specific person at that branch. Hold times were so long that once I got in my car and reached the bank before someone answered the call. They are no longer friendly and efficient and are certainly not glad to see you. They no longer have the same culture. read more

I've been with Avadian for somewhere around 20 years. They started as AL Telco. Service is horrible. The lobbies at all branches close whenever they feel like it. It's very difficult to complete a transaction in person. My accounts have been denied while traveling. Accounts have been hacked several times, and debit cards don't always work. The customer service is slow, and transactions in person aren't always done right. I don't know how they've gotten so bad. I would never recommend Avadian to anyone. read more

I love a credit union over a regular bank always You are like a person not an account number Today I went in get help because I somehow managed to lock my out of account via phone and my computer I first walked up to the teller for help. He very nice and got another young man to take me through it. But this young man didn't just tell how to fix my problems He actually fixed my problems for me He was extremely patient Very friendly we even had a Alabama vs Auburn debate. I had a problem with avadian credit Union about a year ago they threatened to close my account down they took money out of my account I had somebody that owed me money that was sending me money that was supposed to give me money a person I had worked for and they said that the money was no good and it was a wire transfer it was several thousand dollars and avadian credit Union acted like I was rubbing the place they had a supervisor of avadian and somebody at the main office treating me like I was walking in there with a gun and robbing the place that is how they treated me read more

Stay away from this credit union December 17th 2022 It's sad that I owed $9 to this credit union when my account stopped working.. I even ask for help..no response, and months later I saw I owed $9. It's hard for me to give a bank 5 star's. but if anyone deserves it these guys do! The branch is very clean and spacious when you go inside. Staff is very friendly and get to know the customers after they have come in a couple times. They are good at getting through large volumes of customers without making you feel rushed. Drive through consists of three lanes as well as one dedicated to a drive through ATM. Same as the inside they are quick to process transactions and are attentive to your needs. This was a quality credit union when it was Alabama Telco. Since rebranding things have gone down hill sharply. They will sneak fees in to your account. I have caught two "insufficient funds" fees this month alone despite not going in to the negative. They will fully gaslight you when you point it out. When you request a call from a branch manager, it is fully ignored. Former staff have admitted that they've seen this first hand and the it being the reason they left. This used to be a great local Credit Union--cheerful, customer-oriented, efficient. No more. They have made a slow dive south over the past 4-5 years. If you are willing to get in your car and drive to the Credit Union you can get help. If you need to accomplish anything over the phone or through Customer Service, good luck with that. I have been transferred 8 times--yes, 8 times to simply make a payment on my Equity Line of Credit. The staff is not well-trained, they are not customer-centric. Having worked in the credit union sector for several years in the past, I am familiar with how things are ran. This particular branch is very clean, inside and out, well-placed, and comfortable to walk in to. The location is convenient, being near the Riverchase Galleria mall and various eateries.
