I have mixed feelings as I write this review because the 1st time we visited and did the mine escape room we really enjoyed our guide in the room and the whole experience was great but this time it was a bit of a disappointment as I found the room (Blitzkrheg German bunker room) to be lackluster and the guide to be somewhat rude and condescending. You go to these places to enjoy, laugh and have a good time with your group not feel like you're being treated poorly by the guy in the room. Overall we enjoyed our time and escaped the room but I don't think this will be my first choice for our next escape adventure. I want to add that front desk staff was wonderfully inviting with great customer service. read more

5 Star reviews are rare for me, but the Avalanche Escape Rooms definitely deserve one! Booking was super easy and instructions easy to follow. We showed up about 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment and received a warm greeting by the receptionist. The lobby space was well maintained and clean. Instructions were very clear and they gave us a locker with key to store our belongings. The escape room was very well decorated and exceptionally clean. Our host played his part well and our group had a great time! The puzzles were very challenging and involved some cool tech stuff. We had a great time--pricing was reasonable for a fun family-focused adventure. Highly recommend! read more

My first escape room! We did the "It's Mine" room with 4 people total including myself. The staff member with us was an awesome professor and helped us right at the end because we were so close! What a blast!! Grab a group of friends and get ready for some fun! Six of us did the "It's Mine" escape room and definitely enjoyed it. We had a mix of experienced, some experienced and newbies. First off, if you're a first timer, they will go over what to do in the room. We had a "professor" in the room who gave us the hints. It was challenging enough so it made it exciting when we solved a puzzle/riddle. They are in the process of opening another room which we are super excited about. My family and I recently did our second Escape Room "It's Mine Part 1" at Avalanche Escape Rooms. We had a GREAT time! We had people with us from ages 12 to 76 and everyone had a super fun time. The escape room was high tech, clean and the "professor" (staff that was in the room with us) was the perfect mixture of subtle and helpful. (Yes, we won the game.) I like the stream-lined on-line scheduling and payment. We will definitely be back to play the second part of the game. Highly recommend. read more

A group of co-workers and I have been planning this outing for some time after hearing how fun these games were from others who tried it. Avalanche Escape Rooms is located off the corner of Tudor and Minnesota going towards Spenard in a two-story gray non-descript building. There were about six of us booked at 7PM for Blitzkrieg, a WWII-era game about a powerful relic that was hidden by a scientist and has to be recovered before the Nazis get ahold of it. The game was held in two adjoining bunker-style rooms complete with replicas of machine guns stacked neatly in rows like an armory, wooden crates with hand grenades, an old-fashioned radio playing traditional German songs, a tactical map of the greater area of Germany, stacks of sandbags in one corner of a room, and a number of electrical switches on the wall with dim underground lights. To add to the tension, the main overhead lights are shut off leaving the entire group in darkness locked inside with flashlights and a bomb detonator-style timer displays the hour limit counting down before the entire bunker self-destructs at zero seconds. One of the employees stays with the group as a character in the game. He will offer clues if we all come to a dead end meanwhile scrambling all over the place to beat the clock. The game was a lot of fun but it may be a little too cramped for large groups of people in this scenario especially for those who are claustrophobic. It was hard to get into certain corners when two of us were already searching that area. A walkthrough of the game with the solutions is provided for those who don't win and a group photo is taken with everyone dressed up in army helmets and military gear. This was a fun-filled hour of searching for clues and solving puzzles in a fully interactive setting. read more

They were very accommodating to the seven 14 year olds I brought in, even though they were loud at times while waiting the employees weren't rude about it at all.. highly recommend especially if you have older children and they're looking to do something fun with there friends. read more

I accidentally booked our escape room on the wrong date. I admit it was my mistake. We showed up on the date I was thinking I booked our escape room for and the young man at the front desk said we would have to repay $200 for it all again if we wanted to do it. I explained that I'd made a mistake and if we could just go in now. The room was open and no one else had booked it for that time. He said no. He asked "the person above him" and he also said no. I looked on the website and it says they dont offer refunds. I wasn't asking for a refund, I was simply asking if we could do the escape room if already paid for. They told us no. Didn't offer a discount or anything. I would have gladly paid if they were a bit more understanding but I certainly wasn't going to pay an additional $200. No where on their site said anything about it. As a business owner, I would have let the customer do the escape room as no one was using it anyhow and we had already paid. I myself run a business that is based on appointments. I send a reminder a few days ahead and I also give them a courtesy call or email if they don't show up. I'm very disappointed with Avalanche Escape Room. I admit it was my fault, but they did nothing to make the situation better. We instantly booked at a competing escape room and had a great time. The teenager was more concerned about the Taco Bell he just had door dashed than taking care of his customers. I will never recommend Avalanche. read more

What a great experience! We had our 11 & 12 year olds combined birthday party here. The Party room is big and spacious, we were able to accommodate 16 people comfortably. The entire place is very clean and welcoming. The staff and owner of the place were all very kind, helpful and friendly. We played "The Cure" which was pretty good, though a bit unusual in that it all took place in a single room, and there was a live employee in the room with us at all times that would give us hints if we asked (we didn't!) and would occasionally nudge us away from spending too much time on a dead end. The puzzles were pretty neat, but I felt like there was too much emphasis on finding hidden objects throughout the room. Solving puzzles is fun, playing "where's Waldo" with random pieces of plastic is not. The combined parallel/linear nature of the puzzles was pretty well thought out. At first you could work on a couple of different puzzles at the same time, but near the end you had to converge on a linear path. read more

It was clean and had a welcoming feel when you arrived. The employee in the room as the guide seed odd at first but was amazing by tge end to have. Our guide saw everything we didn't see eachdoing that played a part in solving the puzzle since we were focused on out little pieces. He did a recap at thw end of how we all solved the escape room which was awesome and added another level of uniqueness to the Avalanche Escape room experience! Can't wait to go again! 4 or more people really are needed for the rooms with the puzzles due to the time it takes which makes it worth the cost!! read more

We had a great experience at Avalanche. Our group of 6 did the Blitzkrieg room (and got out with 9m to spare!) this afternoon. Staff were friendly and provided a pleasant experience. The room was challenging, but well thought out. This was my first time doing an escape room and I really enjoyed the way that Avalanche does theirs. They will be changing out a couple of their rooms soon so make sure to go try them out before they switch them out. We will definitely be back to try out the other rooms! read more

What an amazing experience! We have done well over 25 rooms now and this place easily hits our top 5 rooms with The Cure room. The mechanics of the room, the puzzles, and the simplicity of the room all make for a great experience. This room is even safe for the kiddos! What?! This place has been opened for a bit, and I'm STILL the first person to review?! I've been out of country for a few months so I thought surely I wouldn't be the first to try and review this out of this crazy crew. Well now I have a mission for you: Dear Readers, + Find 6-8 friends + Head to http://avalancheescaperooms.com + Choose a room + Meet up and find the clues to get yourself out! I've been bugging friends to do a room with me since they started popping up around the Lower 48. I finally got to do one a month ago down in Texas ... AND I LOVED IT. So with five other friends, we had to try their new room, 'The Cure.' I pulled up to their Minnesota location, which honestly I could have passed a ton of times since they didn't have signage except for their door. (Thank you, GPS!) Without giving away too much, you start by reading your mission, then get escorted to the back where they have lockers and a coach rack for use. You get a mini safety brief, then places in your room to play. It's there that you look around for clues, patterns, codes, you never know what you're exactly looking for, as each room and mission are different. However, that's the joy of these games. Staff was amazing, and super fun. At the end they do a full walk through in case you weren't able to 'escape.' To this date no one has solved 'The Cure.' Well actually ... we did BUT we ran out of time, BY A FREAKIN SECOND. We were making the last turn to the safe when it locked us out. Trust me, we're all still sour at the person that was calling out the code. It's okay though, it was so much fun! Now it's your turn! Try it for yourself! read more

This is the only escape room I've done where they have a live person in the room with you, acting out a role that is part of the game. Great use of tech and interesting puzzles. Unfortunately this escape room was not as much fun as we were hoping. The owner was nice enough. But when we went to the escape room we never really felt like we had a chance to solve anything on our own because of the person inside the escape room. I appreciate the idea of someone being in the room during the puzzle but it felt like there's very little room to move. and if we made an error we were corrected immediately and didn't get a chance to figure it for ourselves... which is the point of an escape room. I've done multiple escape rooms and unfortunately this is my least favorite so far. I think if people had the opportunity to find things on their own a little more and only get hints when they ask for it, it would be a lot more enjoyable. Overall it was clean & pretty well put together. but if you're the type of person to talk through the riddles or you like to do things a little more on your own, this place isn't for you read more

Took my teen daughter and her friends for her birthday. Staff gives you backstory to read based on the room you've picked as part of the prep for your challenge. Kids had a blast! Didn't quite solve their task, but immediately said they wanted to come back again to try a different room. If you can get a group of teens excited and engaged to the point where they want to return, you're doing something right! read more

This was a fun filled adventure for the family. We ended up having the room to ourselves so performed the escape with 4 people and Sergeant Wells (aka Chris) who was wonderful! I recommend this escape room for others - the puzzles were fun and not overly challenging but not super simple either. This was only the third time through an Escape Room for our family so we can't speak for how significantly different, challenging, or overly simplistic this might be in comparison to other rooms, however we all quite thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought the setup, clues etc were nicely done! I had a great experience the first time I came a couple of months ago. My girlfriend and I decided to come back (didn't reserve a room) at 9:15pm because we saw they had a room for 8 available at 9:30 and we wanted to challenge ourselves. The girl who was working finished explaining a different room to another group at 9:30. She asked if we had a reservation and I said no but I saw you had a room available at 9:30 and we wanted to try that one out. Her response, "we don't normally do rooms for 2 and we actually wanted to close early". I told her I know they do rooms for 2 because during the previous experience the gentlemen said they had a couple who travels the world completing escape rooms complete a room by themselves. Her response again, "well yea we do rooms for 2 but we as a group decided we want to leave early tonight." I give her props for being straight up and saying we don't want you guys to do the room because we wanted to call it an early night. You were better off lying and coming up with a better excuse. Super fun different and exciting. Went with a group of 7 to the largest room and it was a challenge but we solved our puzzle! Great way to test your teamwork skills under pressure. The story and decorations were great and the staff was very nice! I would go back to try the other room and they will be changing it up every so often! So fun! read more

We played the "Blitzkrieg" room as a staff team-building activity. It was the first time for most of our group to do an escape room and we all had a blast! It feels like you're in a movie--the realistic ambience of the room and trying to solve the mystery with a historic storyline made you feel like a secret agent. It was a great experience that would work well for a date night, family outing or corporate team-building. I can't wait to go back and try the other room! read more
