Seems like they are busier on Monday's but they were giving lavender towels to help you feel comfortable while you wait, which was a really thoughtful! I would definitely listen to the other reviews--my experience here was not good. I came in for a sore throat and mentioned that I had two ear infections in the past couple of weeks and had already been taking cefdinir 300 mg, just to give background information. After examining my ears, the doctor said there was no ear infection, but then still proceeded as if I had one and suggested treatment for it. That was confusing and made it feel like he wasn't really listening to what I was saying. I also had a very hard time understanding the doctor, as he was mumbling throughout the visit, which made communication even more difficult. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, but overall I did not feel heard or clearly guided in my care. I left feeling unsure about my diagnosis and treatment plan. If you're anywhere near Yucca Valley, I would recommend Eisenhower Urgent Care in Palm Springs instead; they are much more attentive and take the time to listen. read more

When I got there there wasn't a provider available for over an hour. When I got brought in by the LVN I proceeded to tell her what I was allergic to, and that I was breastfeeding. After the Dr came in he told me that he'd prescribe me what I was allergic to. After notifying him, even though it was written by the LVN in the paper right in front of him, he then proceeded to prescribe me with something else he stated he wasn't sure was breastfeeding safe. Then he proceeded to walk out stating I could ask my OB/GYN and or to look it up. I couldn't read his handwriting, and now have thankfully gotten an appointment set with my Dr the next day. I can't believe my insurance is going to pay that Dr for that sad excuse of a visit. read more

My experience aligns with other reviewers here. The doctor might really consider going into retirement. It was very hard for me to understand what he was saying and nothing about his manner brought confidence or care. The wait time was very long. And the doctor told me twice to not share my HIV status with his staff (it is a relevant piece of information for my situation), I got deeply angry and left. One would hope that trained medical professionals would understand how specific infections are spread and not support ongoing ignorance about a specific infectious disease. Does the Dr. ever work? My son broke his hand in July, went to urgent care... Front desk says we have no provider on duty right now, maybe by 5 or 6 pm, so went to the ER. Today, I went for a minor issue, again, no provider on duty until 5. Must be nice to only work 2 hours a day. read more

I went in here and literally waited Two hours to be seen, a girl took my blood pressure and a urine sample because I told her that I believed I had infection possibly a UTI not sure I leave my urine sample and the doctor walks in and asked me why I'm there. I tell him I think I might have an infection. Tell him my symptoms and he said OK I'll prescribe you a cream. Not even knowing what my infection is or testing my urine. I let him know. I left a urine sample. He goes to check and they had dumped out my sample without even testing it. He ultimately told me that it's not his specialty and not his problem and to see my primary Doctor Who referred me to the urgent care because they were booked for a few weeks to begin with. If I could give zero stars for this review, I certainly would. I had to go to urgent care for hives, I checked in and had a seat. What I can't live with is the lack of patient care that they provided at this clinic, the provider came in mumbling unintelligible words, never did a physical exam and never even touched me or provided any sort of health care. Given that I was s having an allergic reaction he should have at least listened to my lungs. What I didn't tell them is that I am a retired ED nurse, nobody asked me if I was having trouble breathing or if I had any tightness in my chest, this is an allergic reaction. I understand this is only in urgent care in the area, Yucca Valley, CA very rural, but it doesn't explain substandard health care. Find an alternative, they do not take care of you at this clinic, you're potentially taking your lives at risk. She was snappy at my client who struggles with severe mental health issues...(who was in zero ways being hard to manage or deal with) she was short and snappy and just damn rude. The person after me I overhear her going off on him because they couldn't find his insurance on file, the man stated he was here three weeks ago and she gets all huffy cutting him off stating that if "he doesn't pay $100 then she isn't going to let him be seen" Just a snappy rude lady. I only have 1 star because I can't leave zero. To start off the lady at the front desk allowed everyone to sit there after they signed in without calling them up to check them in. I signed in at 11:55 AM today to get a TB test for the Morongo Unified School District, and after I sat there until 12:30, waiting to be checked in, I went up to ask how long the wait would be and when I would be checked in. The receptionist looked at me & said Nicole? Then she counted the number of people ahead of me. It would be so much more effective if they would check people in quickly and let them know how long they would be waiting roughly. Not just keep them sitting for almost an hour without saying a thing. It would also be nice if since this was for the school district, there were a different process for people that just need to walk in and get a quick TB test done. I would have been really upset if I would have had to wait like that to have it read in 2 days. It was a horrible first experience and I am a Yucca Valley resident. In the past I worked at Annenberg Center for Health Sciences and Heart Institute of the Desert (total 10 years) so I consider my self qualified to give my judgment on medical facilities. And because I'm an octogenarian with a heart condition and age related ailments I have so my experiences with doctors and medical facilities. I was referred to this urgent care by the other urgent care facility next to Napa Auto Parts since my Humana Insurance is not connected to this facility. Upon arrival at Avalon Urgent care the small crowded waiting room was my first bad impression. The receptionists were helpful and nice to my wife who registered me and the nurse was super nice who asked me several times if I needed a wheelchair because I walked with a cane. The so called physician was something else, no name or MD on his grungy uniform and he did took the time to sit down and introduce himself. I got his name from this Yelp page. This is his entrance: knock knock, swung the door open and rudely barked "WHY ARE YOU HERE FOR ! " Why do we have to fill in the form when I registered and the premed questionnaire by the nurse? He could get all that info from that and know my name and addresses me accordingly. What a rude person (notice I did not mention doctor) and wonder which medical school he graduated from. When I ask if he could get me a cortisone shot for my terrible pain in my right hip his curt answer was" I don't give shots." This in contrast with Kaiser in Modesto and the Urgent Care facility in Apple Valley for my arthritis knee and shoulder complaints. I have to be honest though that the follow up on the result from the x rays they took was quick even though I wonder about the results. There must be a reason for my visit and the continuous stabbing pain. They did not even try to help with my terrible pain. Consequently I will be asking a second opinion at the imaging center in Palm Springs next week. I bet you that 'male medical person' at the Avalon Urgent Care doesn't even know what the Hippocratic Oath is. read more

First impression of this office is terrible. We arrived at 6:50pm and were turned away. Front desk receptionist said they were no longer taking patients, they were full, and close at 7:30. 2 people in the waiting room mind you, nothing crazy. I get that we arrived later in the evening but isn't this what an urgent care is for? I want to avoid crowding up the ER for someone with flu symptoms. I went to Avalon Urgent Care on Dec 4th to be treated for a cat bite. It wasn't too bad, I just needed antibiotics. I was seen by Dr Robert Evans. He did not say hello or introduce himself when he came into the room. He appeared to be disoriented. He was wearing a sweater pulled messily over his scrubs and his hair was unkempt. I told him I needed antibiotics. He asked if I had allergies and I said amoxicillin. He then took me over to the sink as he put on a single rubber glove, but only pulled it onto his hand halfway. He then took some gauze and clumsily wiped my hands with a mix of iodine + peroxide, told me the nurse would be back with my dressing and the prescription would be in the front office, and then he left. I got my prescription and took it to the pharmacy only to find out he had written me a prescription that I was allergic to despite my telling him my allergies. He had also written the prescription out to my middle name instead of my first name, causing confusion at the pharmacy. I had to go back to urgent care to get a new prescription. The nurses were apologetic and seemed annoyed with the doctor, so at least I didn't feel totally alone. Avoid Dr. Evans. This man did not seem fit to be working in general, let alone as a medical doctor. read more

I went there Monday morning because I had a really bad pain in my back, I was so shocked on how the receptionist responded to me, it was 90 degrees outside around 8-9:30 am the I asked the receptionist if I could get some water she yelled at me and told me "don't you see I'm busy" you can wait outside, I then proceeded to go outside it was around 10-11 I was greeted by a nurse or I don't know what her position was but she asked me if I was okay, I told her what happened she then brought me to the back took my vitals and brought me water. Awful place. I needed a DOT physical. This place does not take appointments. I get there and it's packed. I turned in all of my paperwork upon arrival as I brought it with me completed. Desk lady takes my license and says she'll give it back later...??? No room inside so I stand outside. 2 small benches both occupied. Heat blaring down... smokers at the door where they place a smoking receptacle... can't breathe. Stand for half an hour gasping for air in the blazing sun. Go inside and lady looks up and says "I haven't done anything with your paperwork yet." Okaaay, how long is the wait? She says "I have no idea" okaaay cause I don't want to wait three hours for a dot physical. She says "then you'll have to come back" okaaay well when is a slow time I can come back? I'm only rating this with 1 star because 0 is not an option in order to write a review. This place is hideous, I'm absolutely amazed that the government is allowing this place to be open and that no consequences have taken place with them. Where do I even start, okay let's start with how absolutely rude and demeaning the entire staff including the Doctor is there. I have 6-years clean and had joint custody with my daughter's father and we switched off weeks, well he started drinking again and crashed into a telephone pole and was air flighted to the hospital, and it was procedure for the hospital to report this and DCFS got involved due to their protocol and I volunteered to do a Urine Sample to prove that I am clean even though no allegations were made against me. The DCFS worker told me to go into Avalon Urgent Care and do a urine sample. I walked in and immediately the receptionist was absolutely rude and when she saw DCFS on the referral form she treated me horribly. I could hear her talking to the nurse about what a low-life mother I am and how could I choose drugs over my child, they weren't even trying to speak quietly amongst themselves. My Mom peaked her head in to see if I had been called back yet and I told her that I felt extremely uncomfortable and that they were calling me a bad Mom because my referral was from DCFS and my mom went up to them extremely upset saying that I have 6 years clean and I'm a program director at a treatment center, they told her they didn't care and to get out, I called the DCFS worker and asked if there was somewhere else I could go and she was extremely upset and called to speak with the head nurse/office manager who by the way was the one talking bad about me with the horrific receptionist. I was honestly scared they were going to mess with my urine sample or give me false-positive results. When the nurse called me back I figured I would explain my situation although I honestly shouldn't have to, I told her the situation and her exact words were "Yeah right, that's what all you junkie parents say" I finally said to her that who does she think she is, I never met an office full of staff that was this terrible and extremely unethical and I told her I wanted to speak with who is in charge and that I was filing a complaint and her exact words were " I'm the one who the complaints go to so good luck" at that point I went to find the Doctor hoping that at least the Doctor was decent enough to help me and he was just as bad. I work in health care and I never treat any of my patients the way they treated me. HONESTLY, I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN EVER GO IN THERE AGAIN. Avalon is in need of urgent care!!!! My visit was 2 days before New Year's Eve @ around 12-1pm Took my 4year old son because he had a high fever for a couple of days. It was busy that day. It took about 1 hour to be called in, but it's expected as it is an urgent care with no set appointments. A nurse yelled my sons name from the back of the office. I guessed that meant it was our turn to be seen. Usually the receiving nurse will open the door and call you to escort you to the room. Unprofessional! As I came into the room, i noticed the place run down and filthy. The nurse asked me a few questions and left, did not close the door, left it wide open. Waited another 5-10 minutes to see the Doctor. Yey!!! NOT !!!!! Doctor rushed into the room, No introduction of himself just said "tell me what's wrong" as he is grabbing a tool to check the ears. Literally 1 minute for the check up and write a prescription!!! Checked his ears. Checked his mouth. Checked his breathing. Wrote the prescription for an antibiotic and gave it to me. He did not tell me what was the diagnostic or why my son got prescribed with antibiotics. So unprofessional!!!! I assumed the antibiotic was for a throat infection, since my son was complaining about his ear and throat. I took the prescription to Walgreens and pharmacist gives me antibiotic PILLS as big as a prenatal pill!!!!! My son is 4 years old!!! There is NO way he is going to swallow a BIG PILL!!! Why would the Doctor prescribe a 4 year old with antibiotic pills. Unprofessional! Not paying attention! Rushing to just collect a paycheck and get us out! I had to call the Dr. office and request liquid for my sons antibiotic. Ridiculous!!! My son was not treated with care at this place!!!! I will not go back!!! read more
