Beautiful grounds, very friendly people, fun activities all season. There are 4 cute cabins for rent, tentsites with grill and picnic tables, RV sites.modern well kept community kitchen, a large pool, hot tub, sauna, kiddie pool. Pickle ball and petanque, very welcoming!! Once you check it out, you will want to come back. When we visited we immediately decided to apply for membership. It is member owned and managed, everyone volunteers to make it a welcoming environment. Oh and on Saturdays there is a lunch grill for 5.00! read more

This nudist resort, approximately 28 miles due north of Minneapolis MN, was my first introduction to organized social nudism, in 1970. I enjoyed it so much, that I became a life member of the parent organization, the then-called American Sunbathing Association, which is now known as the American Association for Nude Recreation, which has their own website, here: http://www.aanr.com The #1 thing you will notice when you visit is the friendliness of the members, and how they do everything they can, to make your experience truly memorable and enjoyable. We had our first visit 8/1/2022 and loved it. You have to be nude for your tour. Makes for a quick introduction to social nudism. Needless to say we fell in love with the place. Nice laid back get naked resort. We didn't get a mile down the road after our first visit and already made plans for another visit. Went back Labor Day weekend. Lots of people, nice people. Been there a dozen times. Great place, nice people, and you GET to be naked. Our first time was the best. We rented cabin #3 in August of 2007. The people who were there with us, were fun, fun, fun! We spent a far too short mini-vacation at Avatan...and on our first stay found it to be one of the best and most friendly we have ever visited. Wonderful CLEAN facilities...sparkling clean, maintained immaculately. Great introduction tour by staff and volunteers. Great advance background check (no creepers here). Great CLEAN and well-equipped rental cabins available. Wonderful pool, hot tub, sauna, community kitchen, and friendly members who invite you to join them at Pickleball, Pétanque and similar popular resort activities. Great RV sites and tent campsites available. Community kitchen (well-equipped and spotless). The only disappointing thing is that our travel schedule did not let us stay for another couple of weeks...we only had a few days. Highly recommend. read more

This is one of those places that are nice to you before you are a member... but after they have your money watch your butt! Mean and ruthless people. Never have a a nice thing to say about you and never willing to be of any kind of help. If you have a question for them wait three to six days for a response and be ready for an extra charge. read more

We just returned from our first visit to Avatan and we WILL be going back! Everyone was extraordinarily friendly and welcoming (someone even left a plate of homemade cookies on our picnic table while we were on a walk!). The grounds & common facilities (especially the pools & hot tub area) were very nicely maintained. We were surprised by the "neighborhood" feeling - most of the sites are set up as seasonal residences. Three cute cabins and a limited number of RV or camping sites are available for short term rentals. Our visit was during the week and we enjoyed having the pool area almost to ourselves; we heard that weekends are considerably more active so will go back to try that as well. Great emphasis was put on cleanliness in the pool area and appropriate behavior throughout. The residents we met take great pride in maintaining their homes and the grounds. Just one thing struck us as odd - unlike other naturist facilities where clothing is optional, pool rules state that "swimsuits and the people who wear them" are not welcomed in the pools. We personally prefer to skinny dip, but that rule could make it difficult for people easing into naturism. Everywhere other than in the pools is clothing optional. We had a great time and look forward to returning soon! read more

Stayed at this camp Memorial Day weekend and had a great time. They had planned activities like bingo and water volley ball. On Memorial Day a tribute to those that served and are on active duty. We found this to be a place with welcoming people and a well kept family camp ground. read more
