Luxury this is not. The day we moved into Avenel, we were all excited for a new place & quickly that excitement was gone. Once we got the keys we noticed how disgusting the apartment was. I went to the office immediately to tell them nobody cleaned for move in. We were told that the cleaning lady had Covid & they forgot to get somebody in there. So we spent 3 hours degreasing the kitchen, cleaning stuff off the walls, and scrubbing down the bathrooms. Within the first 48 hours we found out the dishwasher & dryer were broken. It took 3 weeks to get those replaced. This is how we started our rental experience. And every other experience over the past 4 years has very much been consistent with this. When you're renting a two bedroom loft for $2500 a month I expected to have a higher level of service & maintenance. I was an idiot for thinking this. At no point in these 4 years of living here has anyone from the office called me back. Yes you read that correctly. You need to leave a message & then call them back yourself until they answer. Be prepared to always have to follow up with them. The apartments look good aesthetically with a fresh coat of paint and new carpet when you're doing a walk-through, but when you're living in the space, you see all of the age & problems. In the middle of January pipe burst damaging the sprinkler system. After the fire department came at 3 AM. Everybody was told to leave their apartment because it wasn't safe to stay in the building. It took 4 days to get repaired, leaving us displaced & being told to just open a claim with our renter's insurance. Immediately passing the buck out of responsibility from Avenel to the renter. Because now your renters rates are gonna go up due to an open claim and you have to pay your deductible. Avenel said they would reimburse us the first night of the hotel. They said absolutely nothing about getting a rent refund for the days we were displaced. After looking into it, legally in the state of Pennsylvania an apartment cannot charge rent if the fire marshal is telling you to vacate the building. We later came to find out this happened to 3 other buildings in the complex. It is now 4 months later and we still have not received my reimbursement. Our money is being held hostage. I have over 25 emails I have sent about where my money is and no one has responded with a payment date or any real information. The clubhouse flooded over a year ago. They spent thousands of dollars to repair it but the amenities that we pay for have been unusable. The gym was closed, when it was open, the equipment was broken. Yet they spent money on a fancy new coffee machine for the lobby. Instead of repairing the amenities because it makes the older residence happy. Or they could have made a point to paying back the residences for what they're legally responsible to do. It's real disrespectful & a slap in the face. Bottom line Avenel handles everything terribly and should not use the term luxury. You're paying them tens of thousands of dollars every year to live in a rundown building with office staff that doesn't give a damn about you. With all the new apartment complexes popping up in the area, go rent there, and stay away from here. It's not worth the money & headache. I'm sure they will respond to this review with the canned response to reach out to them, when they won't even return my calls. The irony. read more

Lipstick on a pig. Renter beware. At the time of this posting, DO NOT move into the 3000 building. Leaks everywhere, impacting 3 floors. I'm told the roof will be replaced sometime this year. Allegedly unrelated to the roof, the whole building has been evacuated 2 times at the most inconvenient times due to pipes connected to the fire sprinkler system bursting. Yes, it's cold, but really this is years of neglect. First time the building was evacuated, we were out for almost about 5/6 nights. 2nd time they let us stay but didn't "recommend" it...you know ...for legal/insurance reasons to cover their asses. They have yet to address any compensation other than saying they would pay hotel bills....but of course must by filed through insurance. It's a mess right now. Guy above me has lived here for 8 years and said this is the worst it's ever been. Go somewhere else. I get the feeling this complex will turn towards low income renters. It's heading in that direction. They really should give renters from the 3000 building the option to end their lease immediately. I'd get out of here in a heartbeat. Outside things look nice, inside is a different story. Dealing with the front office and management is a struggle. They don't write anything down, don't send out meeting makers, and everything appears to be communicated by word of mouth. "oh come back tomorrow and the manager will be here". I show up and they "forgot" she was off that day. So frustrating to deal with incompetent people. Doesn't appear to be any accountability and getting a hold of key decision makers is atrocious. As for inside the apt, it's average....I'm here temporarily so I don't get hung up on most of the little things. I will say, it took forever for maintenance to come out last summer. The issues I did raise when I moved in took months to address. Apparently maintenance marked them as complete, and never addressed them. The maintenance guys are great when they show up; however, this place has gone through years of neglect so I assume the maintenance personnel are overwhelmed and have a crappy budget to properly address maintenance issues. Replaced my refrigerator but was told they would get me an ice maker, months later when they returned to install the ice maker, they dug into the faux wood floor while moving the refrigerator. Another time they replaced my kitchen faucet and garbage disposal, I came home and all stuff under my sink was all over the place. They never cleaned up after themselves! Come into my place and make a mess, CLEAN UP! Just a few stories to share so you can see what kind of place this is. HVAC issues is whole story to itself and not enough space on here to go into that. read more

Do not consider moving into the Avenel at Montgomery Sq There is mold and the air conditioning never works. The management is below average and the maintenance is a mess!! The Apartment Complex is falling down and needs a complete overhaul. read more

James is a most hospitable, helpful, and kind person who truly helped make Avenel home to us. The maintenance staff is friendly, prompt, and highly capable. Overall, we are so happy we chose to live at Avenel, and excitedly recommend this wonderful apartment complex to anyone who wants safe, clean living and a place to call home. read more

The complex is pretty nice and staff is generally friendly, however I would not recommend anyone live here based on the incompetent management. After I moved in, there was an oversight and 1 light was not working - not a big deal, however this took over 1 month and me asking 5 times to finally replace it. After I moved out, same thing getting my deposit refund - going on almost 2 months and now I've hired an attorney and will be suing. Unbelievable. read more

I love living here. Spacious, clean and staff is responsive. The landscaping is just beautiful as well. No complaints except the loud neighbors upstairs but thats not the office's fault and the loud garage below my room. The builders really should have insulated it to reduce sound in the apartments boarding it. Regardless, I don't plan to leave anytime soon read more

Avenel at Montgomery Square - Just beautiful... feel like I'm entering a gorgeous park everytime I come home. - Apartments Near Me - North Wales, Pennsylvania

I want to start off by saying the Avenel office and maintenance staff have been excellent, they were always able to follow up on any requests with urgency and displayed care and professionalism. Ginny, John and Susan were who I primarily dealt with and I can say they were very friendly and easy to work with. Additionally, the maintenance staff has been phenomenal in terms of punctuality and fixing the issue the right way, and a friendly crew of guys. These apartments are very spacious and more on the modern side, the pool and common areas are a nice touch and the availability of garages (which was the deal maker for me) is also great. Where I feel Avenel falls short has less to do with the office staff, amenities or layout and more to do with two things: abhorrent (read: cheap) build quality and a handful of tremendously rude and downright disgraceful neighbors. These buildings look nice from the outside, but they're peak pre-recession cheap construction and once you settle in, it shows. Noise is always something that comes with apartment living, but I feel some of the noises here are outside of what someone would reasonably expect. Combine this with some of the rude clowns that live there, and its not a nice experience. Children stomping and jumping above you, parents who let their kids roam freely to scream and yell in breezeways outside your door and just a general free-for-all attitude that some of these people have. Keep in mind the office staff does respond to complaints and they do follow up, but there is only so much they can do. Perhaps better vetting of tenants or implementing a monetary fine for repeat violations would go a long way. Additionally, while I absolutely loved having my garage, it was incredible just how many of the awful people who live here feel entitled to park in my garage driveway and block me in "just for a second" or for several hours. I'm not talking about 5-minute delivery drivers or Amazon vans; I'm talking about lazy residents who think it's a drop-off zone. Attached garages go for an additional $150 per month, and for that cost on top of the high rents in the area, you shouldn't have to fight with these people who repeatedly park where they shouldn't. They do have a tiny sign in the middle of the garages informing that they are reserved (as if the geniuses who leave their cars there couldn't have already deduced that they're private access), and the office informed me that Sentinel Real Estate does not think additional signage would be warranted. Well, hard disagree on that but if you do have an attached garage, be prepared for rude people to block you in often. That said, there are also a lot of nice people here too...especially some of the older residents in the main building. Overall, I would recommend it if you can get a top floor apartment and a detached garage. read more

I have lived at Avenel Apartments for almost 10 years. I love it here (obviously)! The office staff is great - they do everything they can to make your experience of living at Avenel exceptional. The maintenance team is great also - they respond quickly whether it is day or night, friendly and works hard to get your problems solved quickly. I have looked elsewhere and nothing I found matches what I get at Avenel. Keep up the great work! read more

The Avenel is by far one of the best places to live in Montgomery county. The photos on here are extremely old, it's completely renovated. When you first pull into the Avenel you are greeted by the beautifully landscaped pathway leading all the way to the club house. Complemented by the 2 toned 3 stories buildings. The clubhouse gives you a home/ luxury hotel feel. The gym is clean and well kept. The pool is beautifully designed, enclosed by gates and some shrubs to give you some privacy. There is a place to grill, private garages you can rent and a spacious business center. Our leasing consultant was sue. She is super friendly and caring. Sue truly made relocating an exciting smooth process from start to finish. From touring us, to staying a little later after work to make sure our applications went through to move in day. She made this a great experience over all. You can really tell all the hard work and devotion that goes into the Avenel. Being a young female you have to be cautious were you reside and the Avenel is by far the safest and cleanest complex I have visited. read more

I lived in Avenel at Montgomery Apartments for over 4 years. The rent was high (I paid around $2,000 per month) but it was the best place to live in the area. This was so, until the new owner and new management came in around 2014. All service went south. The people at the office made you know that they were the owners and you were living in their property, although you are paying one of the highest rent in the area. The problem started in October 2014. "MICE" and lots of it. I lived on the 3rd floor. I made the complaint to the management office and their response was that "the MICE problems are not emergency" and that I have to wait to their once a week routine exterminator day, which is every Wednesday. My problem started on Thursday, so they wanted me to wait until next Wednesday to have an exterminator in my apartment. I laid out the mice traps. I caught more than 12 mice in less than 10 days. Every time I caught a mouse, I would take it down to the managing office and send photos to the owners. Their answer always for the entire week was "Exterminator will be here on Wednesday". I had many arguments with the owner's office and was able to terminate my lease early. I cannot recommend this apartment to anyone. Please see photos. read more
