I hired Ian to represent me in a case that was a little outside his general realm of practice, and…read moream very happy with the outcome. Although this particular type of lawsuit was new to Ian he handled it almost exactly as he said he would in our original consultation. I was sued by a debt collector, but not for a debt; they sued me for unlimited defamation (e.g. with potential damages exceeding $50,000) for a negative, and derogatory (but very true), review that I left on their Google My Business reviews page. So, just to be clear, they didn't sue me for the "debt" (which was a scam at its origins, and was originally for less than $100), but for the negative review where they were attempting to plunder some real money through a frivolous lawsuit. My original communication with Ian wasn't to inquire about his services, but to compliment him on a short handbook that he had put out on the internet about answering lawsuits. Ian responded to my compliment graciously, and a few subsequent communications ended up with my making the appropriate decision to hire him to handle my case. My original inclination was to handle it myself, which I'm very glad that I did not do. I've handled a few small cases here and there over the years pro se successfully, but there's no way I could have taken this one on myself. Everything went amazingly smooth; from agreeing on a very fair price to arriving at the dismissal of the case. This was a very pleasant surprise for me, as my past (relatively limited) interactions with attorneys over the course of about 20 years has been mostly less than satisfying, despite prevailing. I've suspected that honest, ethical, and proficient attorneys must exist somewhere out there, and I'm glad to say that I've found that in Ian.
