The only concern I had was the even with the do not disturb on our door our room was serviced every day which completely defeated the do not disturb sign.

The old town of Bari is right next to the port. A 15 minutes walk from the cruise ship terminal. No need to join any tours, and the city is also straightforward to navigate. The new town is across a street from the old town, which has a reputation for being a great shopping area. It has a lot of shops, including almost all the luxury brands in the area. The area also looks safer than some other cities in Europe. At least it was not very crowded when we arrived at the end of November.

No real directions accompanied the printed email from the company...so we had to find our bearings and no one spoke any English. We finally found a traffic guy who was able to guide us to the Cruise terminal (big blue building) which has the immigration/ticket retrial counter. All was smooth after that. The ferry was very clean and offered a bar and cafeteria for the 8 hours crossing.

Our Taxi Driver, Cristian Ranieri drives primarily in Bari Italy and vicinity…read more We decided late in the morning that we wanted to see the tiny conical, beehive-shaped huts called Trulli in Alberobello. He picked us up at our cruise ship terminal and drove some 65km to see them. He waited ninety minutes for us and then drove us back to Bari. With the help of our Viking representative, we negotiated a €140 fare and gave him a €30 Tip at the end of our journey. The Trulli huts at Alberobello's are considered the most extensive and best preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site (see photos). You will be amazed to see how the locals have converted these spaces into cafés, shops and stylish homes. Ohhh, and into tourist shops, too. LOL So how good was Cristian? At one point it started raining and I gave our one umbrella to my wife and companion. He then came back and found me with a huge golf umbrella, to walk me back to his VW Atlas cab. Nice! The next day we did a rickshaw tour and wine tasting, both were great! We missed out on the sea caves because of the weather. If we ever get the chance to come back we will definitely use this place again!

The room was clean and had a beautiful view of the sea. I took one star off because the room was a bit hot. The air never seem to completely cool. The glass…read morejuice beakers were chipped at the pouring edge, so you weren't sure if you're getting perhaps a bit of glass in your juice. Juice was thin Kool-Aid, at least that's what it taste like. The very thin sliced salami did not have the rind taken off so my wife almost choked on it. If you have breakfast here make sure you take the rind of the salami which is not edible! Our room was very small, no English-speaking channels, no German speaking, channels no French channels, Just hundred Italian channels. This is definitely not an international hotel. Room was very stuffy, and we tried adjusting the air-conditioning which went off every five minutes. After two hours of this called reception and they told me oh yeS, will turn the air conditioner on in your room for you from here. Thanks a lot. This hotel is definitely not worth the price.
