He knew how to get timed tickets for the Colosseum with out waiting in a long line. He also helped us find a restaurant that could accommodate gluten free for a member of our party. He picked us up at the port at the agreed upon time and got us back to the ship with plenty of time to spare before the all aboard. His van was very clean and comfortable. We were picked up in a clean huge Mercedes passenger van. Domenico was pleasant to talk to but I had a sense he was more of a reserved person. He did answer questions and make suggestions though when asked. This was charged at a flat rate. Our second scheduled day Rolando was able to make it. This was a day in Rome where we wanted him to essentially chauffeur us through various religious sites. We gave him a list and depending on time he figured out the best way to see what we could. He would literally drop us off in front of any site and wait for us. This was pretty helpful as some of the churches were a bit far from where we were staying in Rome and we would have been zigzagging on public transportation in sweltering June heat. The comfortable air conditioned MBZ minivan was so much easier. Rolando suggested an awesome lunch at La Carbonara (see review). This day was charged at an hourly rate. Our third day was a last minute addition. He had a cancellation so we decided to have Rolando bring us to the Umbria region where there were medieval towns. This included stopping at Assisi, Civita, and Orvieto. These were magnificent to visit. Again Rolando suggested an awesome place to eat in Assisi. This was charged at a flat rate. Rolando takes pride in his vehicles keeping them clean. He stocks them with water for you and the vehicle is WIFI equipped. Rolando is very personable. He gave unsolicited information about places we were passing by so we had not just a driver but a tour guide. I totally recommend him!

She answered all of my questions quickly and completely, and tailored our experience to what we wanted to see and do. My daughter and I booked a pick up from the cruise port of Civitavecchia and tour of Rome. Andrea was there to pick us up promptly and it felt like we had just reconnected with an old friend. He was very knowedgeable and personable. We were able to see all of the main attractions we wanted to see, and he utilized our time well, avoiding traffic. Andrea made reservations for us to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant where we sampled local food and wine. We were also able to go shopping for souvenirs and learn about the history of the area. We ot back to our cruise exhausted but happy from all we had seen and experienced. The following day, Andrea met us at the Naples port and we headed to Pompeii. He had arranged a private guided tour of Pompeii for us, which we thouroughly enjoyed. We then headed to Sorrento for lunch and shopping. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely utilize their services again when we are able to return to Italy!

The Airport is one of the oldest in the world it opened in 1916 and served as Rome's main and only airport up until FCO opened in 1961, nowadays it is a hub for budget airline, Ryanair who run the majority of flights from the airport, alongside a small number of military and Wizz Air flights. It's pretty easy to get to the airport from the city centre - you can either take the coach from outside the airport or use a combination of bus and train, the latter option is by far the cheapest and most comfortable option. It's around 12 kilometres from Rome's city centre. Due to being such a small Airport, I was able to get through security in a matter of minutes, which I greatly appreciated, there isn't much at the Airport after security, there's a small number of unbranded Cafes and a small duty-free. There is a McDonald's which opened in 2024, but I wouldn't advise ordering from here if you've already been through security, as they actually bring the food through security themselves from their kitchen right by the check-in desks, so it does take a while and you're not guaranteed to get your food for some time - bad if you're in a hurry for flights. It certainly isn't the most glamorous airport, nor is it a great welcome to Rome, one of the world's most beautiful cities, but it gets the job done, it's no more difficult to get to than Fiumicino and I would not begrudge using the Airport again, but I would arrive much later as it isn't a place you want to spend much time. 3*

So if your taking the termini station subway look for the exit sign. You won't see the termini station exit under termini it will be listed under exit/ baggage claim . Follow the baggage claim all the way to the end and you will find the Termini station. For my first time here I was able to navigate the airport smoothly although the whole time I didn't see the train exit sign until I got into baggage claim. From coming out the gates and redirecting it can be a really funny feeling if not stressful but I found as long as one has the internet one is never afraid . Got to the airport to pick it up and they insist that the person listed as the driver MUST be the person who's credit card they charge. This would not have been an issue but we were having an issue using our credit cards in Italy and only had two people who's cards were working. They refused to charge another card and told us that instead of paying 900 euro like it said online we had to pay 1800 euro to change the name of the DRIVER so they could charge their card. RIDICULOUS. Then, on our drive to Venice only four hours later we got a flat tire on a vehicle that had less than 25,000 miles on it. We called and they asked so many useless questions that by the time they offered to call a tow truck we had already located the spare tire and changed it ourselves by google translating the manual. We later called and tried to speak to a supervisor about how ridiculous this all was and try to resolve the cost issue and they hung UP on us! We will never be using Avis again, WORST experience we have ever had.

Details: despite my very good knowledge of how the car rental industry operates, I kept being told they could not rent me a car if I did not buy their insurances... why? Because I did not have an international drivers licence (LOL x10...nice try!). They even said it's the ''law'' and offered me to go rent with the other car rental desks within the same space, knowing very well the other 3 or 4 desks would give me the same BS and that I would have to come back (the other desks were even worse crooks like Gold Car etc so I didn't even bother). What did I do? I crossed the sidewalk (across the parking) and went to Sixt. Saved lots of money and wasn't harassed for 1 second about the ''law'' . I ended up saving 180euros as I did not have to buy their useless insurance! Note: the look on the Sicily by Car's employee faces were absolutely priceless when they realized I officially cancelled and had gone to Sixt...(as it wasn't within the same office).

Upon picking the car up in Rome, it was filthy and had tons of damage. I made sure to take numerous photos at pick up, to document, and insisted on having an employee in some of the photos as we did the inspection. I then had to ensure that all of the damage had been recorded properly on the inspection slip they give you... as I had anticipated, they failed to write down much of it. My response was to make the inspection employee hand write all of the damage in the very tiny description panel, sign it and print his name! I suspect this is a business as usual ploy to get you at the end for damages that you didn't do. When I dropped the car off in Sicily, the representative was very rude.. he then attempted to charge me for existing damage, ignoring the notes on the inspection document, and then got even more upset and rude when I proceeded to show him the photos of the vehicle from the Rome pickup. As he closed my invoice out, I was told this was my final bill, I owed nothing more and was fully paid. So I thought! 6 month later, Sicily by Car attempted to recharge my card for an additional $65! I have not received an email from them explaining why this new billing occurred six (6) month later, but it's obviously a very devious and crooked approach to catch customers down the line for unfounded charges, making it very difficult to contest. THIS IS THEFT, make no mistake about it. As Italy is such an infamously corrupt country, I doubt Italian law makers will do anything to reprimand this company. I have registered a complaint, but very much doubt this will go anywhere, until there is a critical mass of customers making the same complaint. Personally, I will never use this company again, and I hope that customer migration and a subsequent negative economical impact will force then to change... or die on the vine. I prefer the latter ;)
