They try to blame you for previous damage. Make sure you take great pictures and a video. Which is difficult given that the cars are parked in a very dark spot. Yet controlled with professional quality control lights. Ridiculous.
When I picked up the car, I was told that it had two areas that had been slightly damaged. These two areas were marked on the contract. Thankfully, I also took a video and photos of the car before driving off with it. The parking lot was dark and truly a joke, considering that you drive through factory quality-check lights and return the car in a very bright, professional-quality parking area. Upon return, the Avis person told me that the car had only one issue and that I scratched the front right rim. I showed him the photos and video of it being scratched before. And responded Do you have insurance that will cover this!!!!!!! Wait, what? So Avis wanted to use my private insurance to pay for damage that was there before. He clearly saw in my face that this was not going to happen, and I made clear that this is fraud. I have been in the automotive sector for many years, and what you are doing with the lights is incredibly fraudulent. Trying to cover up issues when customers are picking up the car and then trying to blame them for something they didn't do. Fortunately, we had a quality control light with us, which is why the photos were clear. But this was a no-no-no experience. If I had time, I would be taking legal action against you for trying to commit insurance fraud.
