    2 hour wait
    Mike G.

How anybody could run a car rental business like this is unknown to me. The weight is currently two hours for a car pick up. Look at my photos and look at this line. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid Avis at all costs.

Representative at the desk was on FaceTime at 6am and proceeded to waste 1.5HRS of my time claiming she couldn't help us. Come to find out she just didn't want to do her job and was turning people away she shouldn't be. Unacceptable and ridiculous, if you can't clock in at 6am don't clock in at 6am. How do you get a line backed up like this at this hour? Everyone in this line deserves compensation.

DO NOT USE AVIS PERIOD!!!! On February 26, 2025, I reserved a full-size, four-door truck a week in advance to ensure availability for my vacation. However, when I arrived on the morning of Friday, March 7, 2025, to pick up the vehicle, I was informed that none were available. The representative spent 45 to 50 minutes trying to locate one, and when she did, it was a plain white Dodge without step ramps. This made entering the vehicle difficult, especially for my nine-year-old daughter. Before leaving the parking lot, multiple warning sensors appeared, including an oil change notification, a brake light warning, and a windshield wiper fluid alert. Upon inspection, I found that the third brake light on the cab was not working. Additionally, the truck was dirty and in need of a wash, but since it was the only option, I had no choice but to take it. A Toyota Tacoma was offered as an alternative, but it was not a full-size truck and would have been uncomfortable for a 13-hour drive. As a Preferred Customer, I expected a far better experience. Despite reserving a week in advance, my family and I spent nearly two hours securing a suitable vehicle. This delay and the poor condition of the truck made me feel as though I had let my family down. No one wants to disappoint their child, and unfortunately, our week-long vacation to Atlanta started on a terrible note due to this rental experience. To make matters worse, I paid $1,191.33 for a vehicle that was not only poorly maintained but also missing a front license plate and had an expired rear plate (November 2024). Additionally, the fuel tank was not full at pickup, and when I reported this, I was simply told to take a picture and inform the attendant upon return. Even after returning the vehicle a day early before 12 noon, I was still charged for the extra day. I also couldn't help but notice that every other full-size, four-door truck in your lot had step bars, making me question why I wasn't given the same level of service. Resolution Request: Given the multiple issues with my rental--lack of availability despite a prior reservation, vehicle maintenance concerns, safety violations, and incorrect billing--I request a partial refund to compensate for the inconvenience and additional charges. I also ask that my Preferred Customer status be considered in resolving this issue to restore my confidence in Avis. Avis response a $124.61 refund based on subtracting the $37 for one day and $86 more dollars. When I informed them that was unacceptable, should be at least $595.00, I promptly received a response saying sorry we have already credited you $124.61 and there is nothing else we can do. However, we have sent you a free upgrade voucher. Based on my experience and the other reviews posted Avis should close down and leave the rental car business alone. Obviously they don't care about providing customer service or resolving issues they create. I wouldn't use this company again if it was the only company in town. Eric Wilkins

So she told me to go back into returns. Go stand in line and talk to someone to get the contract. After I got into the returns area, I got the text to check the car out with the system. Which has happened at other locations, but other places could email me the contract. Inefficient. If I didn't have to use budget sometimes for work, I would not.

As soon as I landed in Charlotte, I immediately called the Hertz IAH location. I was told to file an online lost-and-found report, which I completed right away. From that point on, the customer service was nonexistent. Over the next several days, I attempted to call the IAH location approximately 25 times. Every time I selected the option to speak with someone, the call disconnected. I also contacted Hertz through online chat and was told that only the airport location could help me--but there was no way to actually reach anyone there. For more than three weeks, I received absolutely no communication. Then, on July 1, I received a generic email from a no-reply address with no contact information simply stating that my items had not been found. I understand that people sometimes leave items behind and that not every lost item is recovered. However, I find it very difficult to believe that a wallet left in the front passenger seat of a vehicle was never discovered during the normal cleaning and preparation of that car for its next rental. Hertz knew exactly who rented and returned the vehicle, yet there was no meaningful communication, no investigation that was shared with me, and no way to speak with anyone at the local office. Whether my wallet was overlooked, mishandled, or never properly processed through the lost-and-found system, the result is the same: an unacceptable lack of integrity and accountability, and horrible customer service. After this experience, I have lost confidence in Hertz and will take my business elsewhere.

She welcomed me with a smile and even went out of her way to greet my daughter and niece. We had a great conversation, and she took the time to explain the different insurance options in a way that made sense. We also discussed possible upgrade options, although we decided to stay with our original selection, a BMW X3. The checkout process was smooth and easy. Emma showed us where our car was located and even gave us breakfast recommendations. The keys were already in the car and ready to go. The gentleman at the gate was also very nice and made the final step of the process simple. I made my reservation and booking through the app, and so far, the rental experience has been a great success. Overall, this was an excellent and stress-free experience!

The agent stated that if I did not purchase this option, I would incur toll charges of approximately $15 each time I passed through a toll. Before agreeing to this charge, I clearly explained my travel plans in detail and showed the agent my GPS route. My travel consisted only of driving from the airport to my hotel in Katy, very limited local driving near the hotel (with most destinations within walking distance), and returning to the airport on Sunday. Despite reviewing my route, the agent strongly insisted that I purchase the toll package and warned that I would pay significantly more without it. Based on this representation, I agreed. In reality, I only passed through two tolls, each clearly posted at $1.50 for two-axle vehicles. Even accounting for the return trip, the total toll cost would be approximately $6.00 (four tolls total). This amount is far less than the $38.31 charged and confirms that the information provided to me was inaccurate and misleading. I am also concerned that this interaction reflects sales pressure to purchase unnecessary add-on services rather than transparent customer guidance. After researching this issue on the Better Business Bureau website, Yelp, Google Reviews, and your company's own customer reviews, I found numerous complaints describing the same experience customers being pressured into purchasing toll packages and other add-ons that were not needed. This appears to be an ongoing and recurring issue rather than an isolated incident. Very disappointed
