We like yo go off the beaten path and renting a jeep for the day was the perfect way to do it. This company understands that most people don't have a vehicle and will go out of their way to pick you up and bring you to the store and drive you back to your hotel after, making it very convenient. The process of renting was quick and easy. There are rules as to how far you can go (key largo if I remember correctly) and they will give you a quick tutorial and once over of the car. They have a map of hot spots and things to do on each key. It was very easy to follow. The ONLY sad thing is that they are all automatics. I get it, but think of us manual lovers lol. We had so much fun but learned one very valuable lesson. Your sunscreen means nothing here. No matter how often you apply it. I ended up stopping to get a long sleeved shirt to cover my crispy skin. The day of our car reservation we were expected to arrive 4pm ish , hours before the 6pm closer. However, storms that day in Key West delayed many flights - taking off and landing ( May 20- 2024). Once we took off, we were still expecting to arrive before the closer time, but when flights landed, we were then stuck waiting to deplane (told the airport only had two ground crew working and another plane was broken down and blocking a slot) Finally after getting off the plane, rushing to the rental counter, everyone who rented with BUDGET was SOL - SH*T- OUT-of - LUCK ! ***I get it, I rented and had seen 6pm, but knew we had hours before then to arrive. I also stupidly thought that when making the reservations, when the Budget website has you key in your airline and flight #, that means they care and will be monitoring should you be late, they'll know and be there for you. Hahahaha joke is on me! To further educate those deciding on who to rent a car with at Key West Airport note this: ***Hertz & Enterprise website's says they both close at 5pm & 6pm, BUT they HAD folks at their counters at 7pm. ***Alamo stays open till 10pm and that's who we ultimately rented from that evening. (We then cancelled our budget reservation). Key West is a tiny airport, it's smaller than Augusta GA. The folks working the car rental counters can see right there where people are coming off their flights. The delays are on the board. The intention of this one star review is: *1st) - Help WARN OTHERS, looking to rent a car at KW airport, and you decide on Budget, KNOW IF YOU ARE DELAYED and arrive after 6pm, you take your chances on being left stranded until the next morning when they open! That is what budget told me when I called their main # - all they could do was tell us to come back in morning! I explained we need to be in the car prior to when they open up bc we have somewhere to go in the morning, that's why we are renting a car for this day, not tomorrow!! They said that's all they could do for us, was tell us to come back to that counter in the morning. I told them Hertz and Enterprise folks were there still and Alamo, WHY couldn't their folks stay? They said Budget closes at 6pm. Ok Got it, loud and clear - so this is why I share this experience bc I hated to see how others looked when they had no Budget car too. *2) I hope the management for Budget Key West counter reads this review and realizes that when it's so stormy, and flights are delayed, make a better business decisions for your customers - pay your folks a few extra dollars to stay a bit over - even an hour or two, you would have had dedicated Budget customers forever - Instead you have a NEVER AGAIN BUDGET CUSTOMER for Key West and possibly all other Budget locations. After standing around, especially after a long flight and wanting to get to our destination, I asked if there was another car, and she did give us a car, but not the type we asked for. She then said since we gave verbal authorization on the car we didn't originally ordered but took, they wouldn't charge us extra. Why should I order a specific car, 2 weeks in advance, give you the time/day when we are arriving to stand there without updates only to get another type of vehicle. Time is money, and we should be compensated for twiddling our thumbs until I spoke up.

We weren't just sightseeing we were inhabiting the island. Drifting through traffic at that slow, salty Key West pace, catching the breeze, waving at strangers, stopping at random corners, parks, and stretches of shade like a bunch of grown men pretending we didn't have responsibilities waiting back home. And then... the nonsense. I didn't know scooters could do wheelies turns out they can. Didn't know golf carts could drift turns out they absolutely will if you find even a whisper of wet pavement (and somehow, we always did). We probably broke every unwritten rule: music too loud, turns too wide, laughter echoing down streets like we owned the place. We've had some shady experiences in the past when renting ATV's and other scenarios where we rented a vehicle, but our experience with Sunshine Scooters was nothing like that at all. Nancy is the master planner and had already figured out everything we needed to do before arrival. She previously called the store several times before pickup to see what our scooter would cost, if we could park our car here while renting the scooter (which we could), to receive the lowdown on where we could park, and the basic rules of the road. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by one gentleman behind the counter than handed off to Brandon. Brandon was a superstar - friendly, great smile, respectful, provided a map and circled several locations we had on our to-do list, and gave us all the other information we needed to survive a week on a scooter driving around in the Keys. Good job Brandon! They have helmets available at no additional charge and there are restrooms for customers as well. The restrooms are surprisingly in great shape and very clean, I did not expect this from a scooter rental store. The rental cost us a little over $200 for 6 days. I believe it is normally more than that but we were able to get a military discount, so be sure to let staff know if you are former military. One scooter fits two people and it's a 50 CC, so max speed is around 45 when you're going downhill. You can get around to just about anywhere in Key West on this thing and parking for scooters is free unless noted otherwise. If you are in a car or golf cart you're looking at spending $5-$10 an HOUR to park anywhere in this city, so scooters and bicycles are the way to go if you want to park for free. You will be required to sign some paperwork like any other rental place, but the one cool thing about renting the scooter is that the insurance coverage only cost $10 the entire time your rent it. The only stipulation is that if you do have an accident and there is visible damage to the vehicle be sure to get a police report filled out otherwise you will not be covered. The scooter gets roughly 100 miles to the gallon, I know because I used to have a 50 CC just like this one. If you do get low on gas the shop will fill it up for free. They also offer a pickup service if you are unable to bring the scooter back. Additionally, they have a key drop area out front where you can drop the scooter and key off after normal business hours if you need to head out of the Keys unexpectedly. All-in-all, riding around on this scooter made our vacation so much more enjoyable. We were free to drive anywhere we wanted and had access to free parking everywhere. If you are here on vacation, I highly recommend getting you a scooter from Sunshine Scooters.

Michael at Enterprise was a super friendly rep that made vehicle turn in a breeze when I returned a vehicle that we initially rented from Miami International AirPort.....and it was FAAAR MORE convenient for a drop off or pick up from Enterprise at Key West. While I don't regret the scenic drive from Miami to Key West with my family, the almost personalized service at Key West Enterprise was the best rental experience in my life of 46 years old. We rented a 6-person golf cart for 3 days and also opted for the backpack cooler (that came with a lock so no one could steal it while leaving it on the cart). They delivered the golf cart to our condo and walked us through the rules, laws, and tips for parking. We had a blast driving around the island and the golf cart was in great condition. The only thing I wish they offered with the rental is a golf cart phone holder. Would have been nice to be able to have my phone up higher while looking at Waze for directions to places. You can buy a magnetic one on Amazon for $17 and I HIGHLY recommend doing that. The cart came with a killer sound system that you can connect to via Bluetooth on your phone. Also had fun color changing lights underneath for night driving. We ended up changing our pick up location for the cart on our last day and they had no issue with us changing that. They communicated with the us regularly via text and even offered up tips for places to eat, beaches to visit, etc. 5-stars for this company! Will use again next time we visit!

I was requesting to extend my rental and after several condescending comments and short comments she said it's was done ands attempted to end the call. I asked if any additional fees or increased rates would occur and again another condescending response. After she hung up, I received a notification of change but it was the same date as before. I called and spoke to another representative (Ashley) and inquired about a change and she a stated there were no changes done to the account. Had I keep the vehicle without checking and calling back, I would have been liable for not returning the vehicle. Ashley was very helpful but the previous representative should be reprimanded or fired for unethical behavior, to include poor customer service skills. How's doling the training other there.
