Terrible service. Waited more than an hour to get picked up at the terminal. When we arrived and I complained, I was refused a car by this person.

Avis Budget UK is a horrible company to deal with. After about 30 years as a Preferred customer, I will NEVER use them again. Apparently, I over-parked at an automated lot, and was fined 100 pounds. Avis mailed me a letter from Budapest that arrived 33 days after the offence; there was a 21 day appeal process opportunity! For this 'service', they charged me 30 pounds. 45 days later, they had the nerve to charge me ANOTHER 60 pounds. That is over US$140 administration fee!! And I cannot do anything about it--- except make it public, and never use them again. Oh, wait! I just received ANOTHER 30 pound charge letter yesterday!!

Excellent exceeded my expectations! Easy to find from Terminal 5 at LHR - follow the signs from luggage collection to their desk and to their parking lot (level 4). I had a reservation (non prepaid) thru AARP / Expedia and they actually had my reservation ready! NOTE: Budget car rental is the same as Avis at London Heathrow airport. Just follow the signs that says "Avis / Budget Car Rental" I thought they would do the typical rental car experience of saying they lost my reservation and I would have to pay thru the nose routine. NOPE - not at this car rental location. They were the lowest cost before we headed out so I was doubtful at first. When I arrived at the counter in the parking lot (flight ran late and their counter service inside the terminal was closed but a very easy to follow sign was posted showing how to get to the parking lot. See sign photo I posted.... Up the elevator and voila - we were there in a few minutes. Counter rep was friendly, found our reservation and had us booked in the promised Ford AUTOMATIC transmission car ready to go with keys. But when we went to find it, was nowhere to be found. The rep apologized and then said, how about this beautiful blue Mercedes A180 CDI at the same price ? I said, sure of course that would be nice. So at the same rate as the Ford Fiesta, we got a Mercedes A180 CDI diesel. What a nice upgrade because they could not located the Ford. See the photos of the Mercedes we got at 25GBP per day ($37). We chose the fuel prepaid option because we didn't want to have to locate a petrol station before returning it at the busy Heathrow location so we got a deal at 50GBP to pay ahead of time for the fuel. All we had to do was return it empty which was perfect. When we did return it a week later, the fuel gauge was at 1/8 tank! Return of the car was easy - just follow the signs at the airport "Avis / Budget Car Return". The car was perfect - very economical but powerful diesel engine kept up with the high speeds on the British motorways (similar to freeways, but some areas have no speed limits)... Diesel is the way to go in Europe due to the cost of fuel @ $7USD per gallon ! It was interesting to compare, the Mercedes diesel was not very peppy at low speeds - it took awhile to spool up while my BMW diesel in the US is super quick to take off. Maybe the Mercedes lacks a turbo charger because the rear emblem says "CDI" instead of the common TDI in the US ? My BMW diesel has twin power turbos which might explain the difference ? Definitely rent here again when flying into LHR.

They needed to upgrade me, which I did not want or ask for. My original booking was for 182.82 GBP. The agent reworked my booking at an increased fee of 969.83 GBP. It was late and I was at the airport with two children my wife along with all our bags so I was forced to sign. The business tactics are setup to defraud. Picking up went fine; but they subtly rush you through the check out process so that you don't feel the need to take video of every inch of the car before you drive away--BE SURE TO DO THIS! When I returned the car, suddenly they tell me it's damaged and charge me over a thousand dollars for repairs. I fight them on it but they just send me to collections. I sadly realize that getting ripped off by a lower amount is better than getting ripped off by a higher amount and so I negotiate a lesser fee and begrudgingly pay it. But they don't remove the collections notices and so I STILL get them to this day (it's been three months). Oh, and the collections notices are in German, which I don't read. Bottom line: rent from ANYONE else and spend 20 mins to take a full, slow-walk video of the entire inside and outside of the car both when you pick it up AND when you drop it off. Protect yourself from this awful company! I hope this helps somebody.

After travelling all night on a plane, we did not bother to look at the small print on the little form that I initialized. Why would we? It should have been as quoted. This is classic bait and switch which I never encountered when travelling in the states. Buyer beware! P.S. The line was out the door and some customers inside were extremely unhappy that the car they had booked several months before was unavailable, while an unfortunate young employee tried to explain why. I was seen by Shazia, a professional member of the team, who advised me that the car I had booked wasn't available but a different one was being prepared. She told me I needed to sign the condition sheet inside the office (i.e. confirming that the car was in perfect condition) but could take photos and videos outside. I returned the car on the specified day, but was shocked to see my account charged £595 without any warning or communication. I endured 5 weeks of fruitless back and forth emails, the first 3 of which involved continuous exchanges in which an extremely unhelpful member of staff, Sam, repeatedly asked what my rental agreement number was (in the email chain following on from my invoice!). I eventually received an email with photos documenting the alleged damage no less than 4 weeks after the charge, which I was able to show through my photos and videos was present on the vehicle when it was provided to me. Only at this point did the company accept responsibility. The above approach shows a system in which customers cannot view the car before signing off on the condition sheet, and so any previous damage or markings are automatically charged for, leaving the customer to continuously chase for answers and with the company taking no responsibility for evidencing the original condition. This is worsened by repeated requests for information already provided (e.g. rental agreement number) and a complaints email address which receives no response/acknowledgement.

When we arrived, the agent offered us a "free upgrade" to a larger vehicle with GPS (which was useful), but the paperwork showed a £30/day upgrade fee. Even after asking repeatedly, they couldn't give a straight explanation--just vague, confusing answers while still insisting it was "free." They also pressured us into cancelling the insurance we had already purchased through Rentalcars.com and pushed us into buying their insurance at triple the cost. They managed to cancel and refund our original insurance instantly with one click, but told us our £100 deposit would take up to 30 days to return after the car was brought back. We were told the deposit would be refunded no matter what condition the car was in. It's now past 30 days, and we still haven't received it. We're currently disputing the refund with Rentalcars.com. While part of the extra charges (like adding an additional driver) were expected, most of the overage came from the supposed "free" upgrade and the inflated insurance. Our final bill ended up over £1,000 more than what we booked. Overall, the experience felt manipulative, misleading, and highly unprofessional. I strongly recommend choosing a different rental company.

Easirent told him l should wait by the green change machine in the pick up area. He kindly walked me to this, helping me with my luggage. I waited 40 mins ......hot and frustrated. Eventually I received a smaller class vehicle and a manual transmission having booked ( and paid in advance) for an automatic transmission! After checking the vehicle thoroughly and photographing all the many defects, off I went. I stayed in Bristol overnight and headed off to Exeter next morning. Once on the road it was clear that the air conditioning wasn't working! I decided to go into the Exeter branch and see if they could do something about the defective air conditioning - driving with the windows open on the motorway was no fun! What a totally different experience Exeter was. The lovely lady greeted me with 'Morning my lover' - very Devon! I felt comfortable from the get go. No question re changing vehicles - I even got the automatic transmission that I'd originally booked. I handed her a large shopping bag of the rubbish I had collected from the unclean Bristol car! She was embarrassed. She apologised for the poor customer service of her Bristol colleagues and agreed that the walk was not acceptable. I would never rent from the again - certainly not in Bristol and from the other reviews I've read, it's not worth taking the risk, even if they're cheaper. Green motion provided an incorrect departure time for the bus. Additionally, they use nomenclature bus, although it is actually a shuttle and leaves from the car/hotel shuttle area. Nobody in the airport has ever heard of this shuttle. It is a 45 minute ride to the car pickup point. There are about six stops before reaching your destination. Meaning, minimum of 2.5 hours until you reach the car rental desk from baggage claim. Same for return. It took us 3 hours. Drivers do not announce the stops. With luck you won't miss it. Buses are not air conditioned. 2.) Upon arrival at the desk, you will wait outside. There is only ONE person at the desk. They take a minimum of 20 minutes to hand the keys to a customer. We waited over an hour and 20 minutes to get the keys to our rental car. 3.) I declined insurance, which really upset the clerk. Showed copy of private insurance I had purchased which exceeded their minimum requirements. They responded by DOUBLING the mandatory deposit to over $3000 USD for a compact car. At heart, this company is an insurance scam. 4.) NO RESTROOMS. There are no restrooms at the car rental facility. Meaning, you need to hold it for a minimum of 4 hours from the time you depart from the airport. The hotel (Holiday Inn) is closed and now operates as a refugee center where access is prohibited by two guards with radios. I asked one if I should just piss on the trees. He nodded in affirmation. This feature never made it on Green Motion's website. 5.) Speaking of, this and many other locations are not listed on their website. Phone number plays a brief message before hanging up with no option to speak to a customer service rep. There is no customer service. Probably the worst business I've ever encountered. If there is a regulatory agency in the UK that oversees these businesses. Please, close their doors. They're hurting a lot of people.
