I'm so disappointed!! I was so pleased when we had a new brunch spot open in Blackheath and was so keen to visit. Well I probably wouldn't recommend it or bother returning myself, to be honest. Firstly, even though there were loads of staff working, I really struggled get someone's attention to order my food, nobody approached me, so in the end I got out of my seat and visited the counter to ask if someone could take my order. There is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant, I liked the decor and lots of customers had brought their dogs in, so you could "dog watch" while waiting for your meal. I ordered the Super Breakfast; multigrain bread, scrambled egg, natto avocado & sunflower seeds (£8.50). I couldn't believe it when my meal came out, it was tiny!! It was on a small side plate sized serving plate and was one slice of toast with scrambled egg and a small dollop of avocado. I thought I was ordering a meal, especially given the price, but it was more like a starter or side dish. As I got my food, a server walked past with eggs Benedict, definitely go for those if you visit! As least you get 2 crumpets! I really couldn't believe that for the Super breakfast, you get one slice of toast. Don't get me wrong, I am well versed in nice restaurants where you get a teeny portion for a large ticket but I really wasn't expecting it here given it was more like a local breakfast spot. Hopefully this isn't the way Blackheath is heading or I'll be pushed out of my own area. I don't mind paying for decent food, but I didn't actually enjoy the meal. There wasn't much flavour to the food and the avocado was way too creamy for my taste. I also though the apple juice was overpriced at £4.20 as well. After my meal I asked for the bill and went to the bathroom while I was waiting. (It still hasn't appeared when I got back). I appreciate the restaurant can't be responsible for how customers leave their toilets, but the toilet was disgusting and it was the nail in the coffin for my overall experience! I doubt very much I will bother going back to the Avocado Garden. read more
